I just bought this game about a week ago.Its the best game I have out of my 11 games for game boy advance. Before you buy a game boy game game any were, you should read reviews online,so thats what I did,if you read any bad ones dont listen. This game has excellent graphics a 4 out of 5 stars, the graphics are a little kidish, but there really good.Next is the music,I'd give the sound a 4 1/2,because it has some pretty good songs, but they get anoying when your battling.I would suggest buying this game,if you think it will be a bad or easy game, your wrong,it is a very challanging game'if you like a chalange'at first it was easy but then it got harder, some times you dont even feel like playing it.I hope this review was helpful to you.

Great game that requires thinking.

A military strategy game that plays on a grid like chess. The graphics, sound, story, logic... everything is great! Warning, this is not an action game, so if you want action look for something else. This game actually teaches people about military weapons, how to use them, and how to think like a field general. Good for training young soldiers. Overall this is one of the best game for GBA, a must have! Destroy!

This is the series that has taken the GBA platform by storm. And Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising does not disappoint. On the contrary, Nintendo has proven that lightning does strike twice.

I'll keep this brief : if you like war strategy games, there is not a better GBA example. Great game balance, tons of replay value, killer soundtrack. A must have game, in my book...

BOOM!

I really loved this game when I first started and would have given it five stars. The gameplay is pretty flawless and it is very easy to pick up yet difficult to master. The only quarrells I have with it are that the difficulty gets insanely high in the later levels. This means that there is only one way to win a level usually and if you make on small mistake the whole scenario comes crashing down on you. I guess I would say that the later levels don't offer enough of a free form gameplay experience.

Absolutely superb.

I picked this up on the recommendation of Tycho from Penny Arcade, and I've since been playing it nonstop for a week while my new Vice City and CnC Generals languish on my computer. There aren't many competitors on the GBA, but this game stacks up with the top rank of strategy titles on *any* platform. Colorful, well-drawn graphics, the large campaign and map assortment, and most importantly the intuitive, chesslike combat sytem combine to make this an entertaining and long-lived game. While I recommend it to "thinking" gamers absolutely without reservation, twitch gamers should note that ... AW2 is turn-based, not real-time, and so reflexes have no role in the gameplay. If you enjoy logic puzzles or wargames, they just don't come any better than this.

The Best Turn-Based Strategy Yet

This game is a must have for any person who enjoyed the first Advance Wars or who likes strategy games. The gameplay is the same as the old Advance Wars, you take your turn, the enemy takes theirs (no quick reflexes needed), but gets much more difficult. Unlike almost all other GBA games, this is a game which requires a ton of thinking and is probably going to be much too difficult for a little kid. With only one gamepak and GBA you can play with friends by passing around the system and each taking your turn (or you can link up). The only few areas where it is not as good as the previous Advance Wars are the graphics of the buildings and structures, the storyline, and some of the characters look much worse. However, some advantages over the old version are the larger amount of maps avaliable, the new terrain features (volcanoes, cannons, missles, etc), more Commanding Officers to play as, much better AI, and the new neotank. This game is one that has almost infinte replay value (if you have played the first Advance Wars a ton the game will lose some of its replay value), can be very frustrating, and is not for 6 year olds, despite its very kiddie graphics. I probably missed about 50 other good points but I hope this review was helpful to you.

I just love this game!

This game is the best game i ever purchased so far. There are so many levels and Characters to choose from. This game is truly fun. If you tried #1 and didn't like it, don't think you won't like #2 there are some things that are different. For instance Each CO has 2 powers instead of 1(except for sturm who doesn't need one), there is a new, stronger tank called a neotank, there are more obstacles(such as vocanoes, cannons, lasers, deathrays, and minicannons), there are new COs to choose from(you can finally choose Nell), and once you beat regular campaign mode you can choose to beat hard campagn mode.

Fantastic!

As a former soldier and a student of tactics, I was expecting to walk all over Advance Wars 2, given that it was my first GBA game. I had read previous reviews and decided to give the game a fair chance, and I'm glad I did. AW2 has been great -- the gameplay is smooth, consistent, and the A.I. for controlling your opponents is surprisingly capable. The gameplay is much more complex than I expected, and that complexity (unit costs and abilities change with whomever your CO is) gives a great battlefield experience. My only suggestion for an Advance Wars 3 would be the addition of units keyed to specific COs -- which would continue to add complexity to the game. I've only scratched the surface with it, thus far, and expect that I'll keep playing the game long after I've finished the campaign.

it gets better

The first advance wars was a really good game, and now theyve expanded it. It has everything the first game had and I love the new co's and the pipes and neo tanks rock. the only dissapointment was that there was only one new unit but nintendo wanted to play it safe and not ruin the game with new some new units that make the game less fun, which has happened alot before. I gave this game a 5 because it is an awesome game and u can play it for hours, you wont get bored of it very quickly even if u dont like strategy u should like this game.
