A Definite "All-Star"

I am a big baseball fan, and have been patiently waiting for this game to come out. I did a lot of research between this game and High Heat 2003 for the GBA. It was a tough decision, but I definitely feel I made the right choice. This is a great offering for the GBA. The game play is smooth and the sound and graphics are very crisp. The stadiums look astonishing considering the platform this game is on. The pitching-batting interface is well done also. This game has great depth as well. There are plenty of play modes and this game comes close to capturing all of the aspects of a major league baseball game. It was a couple of features shy of five stars though. Hopefully next year, Acclaim will add some other small features to round-out a great baseball game for the GBA (ie: hit batters, adjust batter's and pitcher's stances, sliding, and maybe even some cut-scenes). Overall though, this game is nicely done and will provide a lot of fun over a 162 game season. Although I looked at this game and High Heat 2003 before making my purchase, I feel Acclaim has made the better game this season, and would definitely recommend buying this game.

Wait until 2004...

I would recommend you not buy any of the GBA's Baseball games this year. I personally an going to wait until Sega releases a version of Baseball Advance with link cable support. All-Star Baseball is a decent Baseball game, however, to have any real fun with the game, you'd have to spend [more money] to get two copies (for multiplayer capabilities). That could be money well spent, if this were a better baseball game.

Not Quite up to snuff

The problem with this game is that it is too hard, and it is not realistic. It is extremely difficult to get a multi-base hit (99 % of the hits by the computer and user are singles), the AI is really dumb (the runners don't know when to advance properly), the computer pitcher absolutely never throws a ball, etc. It is challenging, but too much so. I found Baseball Advance to be a much more playable game. It has the right blend of difficulty and challenge without being ridiculous.

Good Graphics, Hard to score runs

This game has good graphics and sound, but is difficult to master. It's hard to score runs or control the base runners. I've played several games and have yet to score a run. Either I'm real bad or this game is real hard. I'm sure I'll get better with time, however if you don't have the patience or your too young you might feel you didn't get your money's worth. Overall it's a very well designed game and easy to use, I just wish it wasn't so hard to score. The CPU pitcher never throws balls, but the pitching is easy to control.

Weak

I was really looking forward to playing this game, but it left me wanting more. The graphics are great, but it's extremely difficult to hit the ball, which other reviewers have pointed out as well. Sure, it's good to have a challenge, but this is just too difficult. The pitching and fielding is easy to master, but hitting--which in a video game is 95% of the fun--is just too damn hard. Save your money.

For GBA, Baseball Advance beats both High Heat and All Star

Don"t believe the hype. This is just like High Heat 2003 for the GBA; one field, 30 background images. Baseball Advance has the 4 best fields (Fenway and Wrigley for classic, Safeco and Pac Bell for new) so you can hit off the green monster etc. High Heat is the king of PC baseball, but for the portable (wonder why the Pocket PC"s don"t have a version), it"s GBA Baseball Advance. You"ll even enjoy playing the whole season, makes the trip to the gym more fun, on the bike and stair stepper anyway :-)

Above Average BaseBall Game

Best Baseball Game for GBA to date. At first the season will seem very easy, but it will get much harder as it goes on.

Although it is the best baseball game for GBA, it still does not compare with old NES and SNES baseball games like Base Wars (the best robot baseball game ever), Baseball 2023(or something like it) and the first a second Griffey Games, which should all be remade into GBA games, they would be INSTANT CLASSICS.

Anyway, Allstar Baseball isn't a horrible game, but get a baseball game for the PS2, Game Cube and X-Box for [a little extra]

Excellent game, very realistic...

This game is so realistic, you feel like your actually inside the stadium.

Great Game!!!

This should be picked up right now!!! I know the baserunning is a bit bad, but that's basically all of the flops. At the beginning you might think it's imossible to hit , but you just have to get used to it. And the fielding feature is a very to use.

Not worth your money, unless you get it for $5

Graphics: The graphics are OK, except for one thing: Every player looks the same!(except for having different skin color)
The teams all have the same color, also.

Gameplay: Unless you put it on Hard (All-Star), the game is way to easy. If you tilt the batting target a certain way, you can get a hit 90% of the time. As for pitching, just pitch to a corner, and you'll get an out almost every time. Plus the baserunning is totally messed up.

Special Features: If you're getting this game for the special features in the console version, don't. There is no create-a-player, or Hall-of-Fame team. The only thing it has are trading cards, which serve no purpose.

BOTTOM LINE: Too easy, gets boring quickly, no good extras,
players and teams all look the same.
