Nice graphics terrible game play

I rented this game before deciding to buy. The game looks nice however the game play itself is horrible. I found the planes not very controllable. There is so much a game writer could do to make a game like this great, graphics are just eye candy. Dont waste your money on this one.

Worst Flight Sim game I have ever played

The only reason this even got to the shelves was because it came out early for the dreamcast. One year from now, this will be one of the forgotten games for the dreamcast...Awful.

You can almost smell the Top Gun-like themes in this aviation action game, but who cares? The ability to take to the skies and take down enemies with guns and missiles is always going to be the completion of a childhood dream for some, and what better way to realize it than on the Sega Dreamcast? The visuals are top-notch in this game, particularly in the dark nighttime levels where sneakiness comes into play. Gameplay's pretty simple, although it would've been nice if landing and taking off in the plane was included (oh, well, you can probably get enough of that in Aerowings). The lack of a two-player option hurts, but there's still enough intensity and missions here to take to the skies in style. Pop in your copy of "Danger Zone" on cassette and take off, eh?

awsome game but not the best...

afd is a pretty cool game, the graphics are awsome espeaseally at close range.
but as u play more the levels get much harder than they should be i am still stuck on the 4th mission!
ac2(ace combat 2)dosen't have better graphics (it's for ps1) but the levels are a little easier so i actually beat the game. but afd is still an awsome game if you are good at speed flying taking down planes in 5 hits instead of the usuall 3 (on some levels) then you should get this game.

This game is really cool. I never get tired of it. It is so realistic. Its fun to play it. ... you have to beat missions and you get money. The money is used to buy more planes. the most expensive one is about 6,000,000 you get about 65,000 or so for every mission. But the planes are very fun to use. this game is better than .... Much better.

Not the best Dreamcast game, but still a fun shooter!

If you are looking for an accurate flight simulator, then don't look here. However, if you want an enjoyable 3-D shooting game where you strap yourself into a cockpit and Go Downtown, look no further!

Air Combat, Dreamcast style

If you've played Air Combat on the PSX, you've played this. Same missions (more or less) but better graphics, more plane selection. Definitely one of the more mediocre Dreamcast games I've seen so far (I've played 10), as far as tapping into what the console is capable of. Still, a lot of fun, challenging, & a good game.

Use the "Expert" option on controls to get the most out of the game (barrell rolls, etc.) Also, the description for the controller was reversed (novice was expert ...) in my game booklet and I couldn't figure out how to re-assign the trigger buttons.

This game is fun, but leaves a lot to be desired as far as air combat simulation. One of the downsides is that your plane carries a ridiculous number of missiles. I also enjoy take off/landing scenarios is a flight simulation, and all game play takes place in the air with this game. The flying portion of the experience is very simplistic - speed up, slow down, turn, and fire are the only controls. Entertaining, and easy to play, but lacks the complexity to keep up your interest.
