Terrible Software - Boring and Repetitive

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 26 / 26

The Dora show is so creative, complex and entertaining that I was excited about the possibility of software! I bought this for my son when he was three and couldn't believe how disappointed we were. He lost interest very quickly. There were only about three activities to do and they were all similar and repetitive. For instance, when you complete a task like putting the Pirate Piggies in the right boats, you are rewarded by....getting to do it all over again! And then again! This was the first and only Nick software I've bought because I'm so afraid of getting burned again. My son loves the Freddi Fish and Putt-Putt software, which costs less anyway so that's what I'd recommend if you have preschoolers.

Spyware ridden software.

Forget about the quality of the game, the software installs browser toolbars, adware and spyware without your consent. Avoid it even if your child "really really really" wants it.

Preschool Computer Lab Teacher - OK for 3-5's

I have taught preschool computer lab for two years and have used this software this year as well as Dora's Backpack Adventure. My younger 3 year old students find the game a bit hard and need some assistance, but once they have the idea, they enjoy repeating the tasks over and over (which this game is definitely repetitive). My older 3 year old and 4-5 year old students will play this game for about 10 minutes and then want to move on to another game.

The one problem that I seem to have with this software is that students will easily find their way into the sticker album but then get stuck there. It takes some real effort to exit out of the sticker album because the exit button hides itself after a moment.

As a personally note, I have to listen to this software's soundtrack for 2.5 hours per day while working in the lab, and I truthfully get sick of hearing it. Other games have lots of varying music, but this one seems to play the seem music and catch phrases over and over and over and over and OVER! Luckily, since children seem to bore of this game in under 30 minutes, most home PC users won't have to put up with this problem for long.

Overall, your young Dora fan will probably enjoy this software for a short time each time you load it.

NOTE: I have successfully used this software on Windows 2000 Professional operating platform.

Lost City...Here We Come!!!

Our 2 year old LOVES this video game. I agree that there are some repetitive parts, but children this age need repetition. I like the number identification, patterns (for level two), and addition (for level 3). This is our second Dora video game and thus far, we haven't been disappointed!

As far as the spy ware goes....our child has our old computer, which is now hers, so we aren't affected by any of that.

I highly reccommend this CD for all preschoolers!

Not like the last!

If your child likes Backpack Adventures, this is a good advancement game. It takes a little longer to comprehend, hence the advancement purposes. My neice loves it, but sometimes she gets bored with the ongoing narratives from the characters. She's more interested in playing the game! Also, the games themselves are not the most creative or the best.

A friend told me about this game and my daugther loves it. We got it for her when she was 3 1/2 and it still is her favorite computer game (she is 4 now). I recommend it for kids who like Dora.

My 4yr old LOOVES it

She can't play it enough. :-) And her 2yr old brother sits and watches her play it. **THUMBS UP**

We have ZERO issues of Spyware of viruses. Perhaps that is an old issue they corrected or maybe the previous reviewers had defective discs!

Yes it is repetitive, which is EXACTLY what kids need at this age! Its not made to entertain YOU, its for your kid!
