Don't get me wrong, I like this game, but I highly recommend the first game by far. i mean... the plot isn't as intriguing for one thing, but the thing that really got me was the chracters. It was very hard for me to actually fall in love with the chracters, while I was delighted by the oringals (Erk and Heath in pauticular! ^.^)

I mean sure, its worth buying, but you will get tired of it really quickly. (I know I have...)

great

This game is good, and the gameplay is interesting. When you had to choose
between Ephraim and Eirika,I chose Ephraim cause he is more strong.I liked
the game because you could control dragon riders and other classes never
before seen or used. The graphics are the same but oh well.I like alot that
its not like fire emblem that when a character ran out of weapons he or she
dissapeared,in this one when he or she rans out of weapons you only have to
buy weapons and dont worry about him or her dissapearing. The thing I kinda
dont like is that sometimes you encounter enemies that turned out to be
friends and you didnt knew it and that you dont know which character turns
he or she a good ally and sometimes you kill them before turning them to
your side and that well...is kinda bad.On the other side this is a good game
and you should go for it.Rent it if you think you'll pass it in one
day,which you wont,or buy it.

I enjoyed this game a lot!

To be honest, I was never a Fire Emblem fan. Infact, this was my first Fire Emblem game! I did enjoy it however. This game is all about strategy and combat. The graphics are exceptional, the game play is superb, and the quality is great. I would definately by another Fire Emblem game.

Great game for inexperienced gamers

I think this is a great game.Even for those with slow reflexes.I haven't bought the first one for two reasons:1 becase there were no images:2 because the other one wasn't as old. This is a good game for those who like stragety-based games like me.It's not too violent and it's not bloody. If you like this game then you'll probabaly like this game called runescape. You find it on runescape.com.Anyway,back to the game topic. There is a lot of different warriors. They can go from Pegasus Knights to Wyvern Knights. There's even a type of magic weilder that can summon warriors. But the warriors it summon's are really weak.BUT DO NOT THROW AWAY THE ISTRUCTION BOOKLET!It contains some useful information that you'd usally find in a guide. But if you get the guide, you can throw the booklet away.

The best game series ever to exist!!!

Basically, what we have here is the same game.
Seriously. Intelli Sys recycled like 60% of the content from FE1(7 in jpn)? The only "new" things here are what you'd already expect in a sequel anyway: a new plot and new character designs.

Why would anyone pay full price to play exactly the same game all over again? It boggles the mind. On the pc we have what are called "expansion packs". This "sequel" does nothing new what the previous game hasn't already done. And the previous one, which I've reviewed, wasn't that impressive either.

In short, go ahead and buy this if you liked the first one and want more of the same. If the previous Fire Emblem didn't do much for you however, don't expect anything different.

See for yourself.

I wanted to love this game so much. I wanted this game to be my new favorite game. I had such high hopes for this game.

And I gotta say, it was everything I asked for. It fixed most of the problems in FE7 (the first one - there are 9 Fire Emblem games), and it was the same FE I loved. But now I could level up my people without arena abuse, and the world map concept was good.

Fire Emblem: Rekka No Ken (once again, FE7, or the previous Fire Emblem) was my favorite game since it came out. I tried FE6 (the one with Roy in it), and I liked it too, even though it was in Japanese.

But why the low score? Well, the second I turned it on for the first time, I was so psyched. Opened it up, started the game (on the hard level, mind you) and played.

I tried. I really did try. I tried to love it, tried to make it fun. But bottom line, it wasn't appealing anymore. I had spent a max of 10 hours at a time on FE7, doing different strategies, leveling up my units (I had gotten 10 units to lv20/lv20), and having fun. FE6 probably would have been the same if I hadn't given up on it (the Japenese proved to be too annoying). But I found myself bored, frustrated, and mad with this FE. The first 3 chapters were okay. Chapter 4 was annoying, and Chapter 5 proved to be the most difficult chapter I had faced in a very very very long time. Chapter 5's difficulty was actually harder than the second-to-last chapter in FE7 (Chapter 30 in Eliwood's story).

Once I had gotten to the chance to choose which storyline to follow, the game had gotten worse. I copied my game to be able to play both Eirika and Ephraim's stories at the same time, and both first chapters outsmarted me. The units are the SAME level as you (every unit of mine was lv 10 - same with the enemy), and when you kill them, a few of my units gained a meager 10-20 experience points. Eirika's level is set so it would be almost impossible to get to both (getting one village is extremely difficult, with needing a fast, high-leveled pegasus and a lot of luck) villages.

It was ridiculous. I put the game down. Trust me, I have a lot of patience. I can play even the most frustrating of games for hours. Black and White would be a good example.

And I love tactical RPG's. I play chess. I'm a math dork. Tactical RPG's are one of my favorite types of games.

But it's not just the frustration. The game didn't interest me anymore. I know it is a great game, worthy of alot of praise. But it wasn't fun. And that's what video games are all about, neh?

Good but last game is better

The new Fire Emblem is okay but it is recycled from the original Fire Emblem. If you like Fire Emblem I recomend it.

This game was good. I just didn't like how most of the characters were guys. The only girls I could have on my team were Eirika, Vanessa, and Natasha. The characters are 6/10 but this game is challenging, which is good. The bad thing about this game is that most of the first 5 levels are tutorials and if one character dies, they never come back. This makes the game more frusterating because you need most of the character to unlock other characters in the game. I haven't played the first game but this game is okay. There is also way to much dialogue.
