Doom review~SNES

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 5 / 5

Doom on the super nintendo rocks! In some ways, its actually better than the pc version. For example,a rocket blast will not throw you around as in the pc game, but at the same time make getting the tower of mystery quite a bit more challenging. Some of the worst gore was removed, making the game more acceptable for younger players.Only 2 textiles were simplified when translating the game, the lava and the radioactive floor. The frame rate is better than most converted pc shooters, giving the game a more realistic feel and ambiance. All of the frightening lighting effects are still present,i.e. a blackout when you grab a key or weapon. The b.f.g.9000 still can take out several Barons, and the chainsaw is even rustier and meaner than ever, ready to tear through a room of demons like soggy kleenex. The game has no save feature, but instead starts at the level you died in with ALL OF YOUR WEAPONS.The game also has a multiplayer option for those of you with an X-band transmitter, which makes it even better. Overall, I loved the game, and would highly recomend it to anyone who likes first-person shooter games.

Fantastic -- from the sound effects to the music. Game play is smooth and the only down side is there is no 'save' feature. However, this only serves to make it more challenging. This game is a classic and still the best first person shooter of all times. DOOM is NOT dead!

DOOM Rocks the Super Nintendo!

"DOOM" for the Super Nintendo is an excellent port of the PC version. Of course, the SNES can't handle "DOOM" perfectly, so, some things were lost in the translation. Things that weren't lost consist of awesome and very creepy graphics (some even look better than on the Playstation version!), 23 of the original 27 levels, great instrumental remixes of the original PC music, cool weapons (nothing beats the BFG 9000), good gameplay and control, and constant action. What was lost consists of a few levels, one monster, all ceiling and floor textures, a few sound effects, some graphics, and a really good framerate. While things can get sluggish at times (and getting stuck on walls is a major pain), everything else is great. The music will creep you out, the monsters will make you run away in terror, and the weapons will make you come right back, blasting away. I, sometimes, actually prefer this version of "DOOM" over any other version! If you have a Super Nintendo and love shooting games, you *MUST* have this game. That's my two cents.

Dismal

One of the worst PC to console adaptations ever made.

I will list the flaws that this abomination contains.

1) Grainy and choppy graphics.

2) Seriously plauged by slow-down, the SNES graphics engine can hardly keep up with a big game like Doom. Console systems weren't desinged to have high memory PC games played on them.

3) Downroght Pi$$ Poor controls. You NEED a mouse to play this game, a D-Pad just will not cut it.

4) Not even the whole game.

5) Sound is uttley horrendus.

6) No Main Menu, just puts you right into thew game as you turn it on. Yep, thats right kids, no control or difficulty settings.

7) This must be (permanatly) set on the "Please Don't Hurt Me!" difficulty setting because it is just way to easy.

8) Why are you even trying to play this game on a Super Nintendo?

9) No recoil when you fire Rockets, like in the PC version.

10) Just avoid this version of the game.

11) Since it's Nintendo, it's also heavily censored. You need the blood and satanic refrences in this game to fully enjoy it.

12) No save feature, not even a password system. This means you have to beat the thing in one sitting.

One of the best Doom games ever!!!

Ultimate Doom experience

Oh man, this game is just great. The best sound out of any other Doom, and considering it is for the SNES,the graphics aren't bad either, but if you just got done playing Playstation 2 you will be suffering from a collosal eyesore. This game brings back the joy of releasing anger onto monsters with a Shotgun, hey, it's a guilty pleasure. Just get it!!!

It is just an okay version of doom.

First of all, Here are the PROS and CONS

PROS:
Good for the people who own a SNES, not PC.

CONS:
really bad graphics.
slower animation than PC.
you can't save the game.
It is shorter than the PC version of doom.

Overall: 0.9

This is a pretty good game, but not for SNES!
Get it on PC. That version is alot better.

It looks like Atari

This game has such bad graphics that it's not even fun. This is Super NES not Atari ( if you played the game you'd know ) I've read reviews that say " oh this game has good graphics " for Atari. I'm a big shooter fan and if this is it ( with I don't think it is ) for Super NES I'm going to be playing a lot of Mario World lately. I'm researching for other Super NES shooters that are out there.

not as good as the Jaguar version but still good

I think the Jaguar version is better...I guess it's the graphics that makes me like the Jag version better. The one area the SNES version does better than the Jag version is music...well actually the Jag version has NO in-game music whatsoever, but it makes it creepier. But for a 16-bit game, SNES Doom is great.
