Mario Kart Clone, less than famous characters, new modes

This would be a great game, if Super Mario Kart Circuit did not exist. Why? Because the game Konami Krazy Racers is a clone of Super Mario Kart Circuit, only with different tracks, a few new modes and less than famous Konami characters. The weapons are less than stellar, as you run through a bell and get a random weapon of a bomb, snow crystals to freeze enemies behind you, a mole to dig a hole, a booster or three rockets to shoot ahead. The controls are even the same, A to accelerate, B to brake, L to use a weapon and R to jump. There are four circuits of four tracks in this game and three levels of difficulty. The tracks are nothing special, its more like an extension of Super Mario Kart, having courses on a beach, moon road (star road), and a cabbage patch (donut plains). The new modes are quite nice, with two mini games, like a game of chicken where you and 3 random racers race toward the end of the track then stop before falling off. Then there is also the "bomb track" mini game where you and three random opponents chase each other trying to destroy one another. Its quite tedious and boring. Another feature to this game is you can collect coins while racing to buy better vehicle parts, which is quite nice. There are cartoonish graphics (Konami is known for making dark graphics), some bad music, and to me personally buying this clone was an insult, because of how similar it is to Super Mario Kart Circuit.

First of all the only thing good about Konami is Castlevania. All other games stink and this one takes the cake. If you want a good racing game reach for F-zero or mario kart super circuit not this garbage

Sounds Great

Well, From what I heard it sounds like the perfect game for a fun and fictious racing game fan, no way am I putting Mario Kart or F- Zero down but Krazy Racers is out at launch and unlike Mario Kart Advance (Mario Kart advance comes out on August 27, 2001). F-zero is rather hard but not too hard for it to be too hard. I plan to get Krazy Racers out at launch.

When you video games with go-carts, you think Mario Kart. Now you have an alternative. Konami brings out their own kart racer full of characters from their own games. You probably haven't heard of all of the racers (not all have hit the USA) but Goemon the Ninja, Dracula from Castlevania, and some other unknown characters are available to you. You race in outer space, lava beds, and others to look for items, like hole diggers and missiles. Also, coins for getting better power ups. There are boosts and jumps on the 16 tracks, which are filled with obstacles. Your car has good steering and you can also hop so you'll be able to navigate through the courses. You get licenses after you complete each circuit. If you win a Time Attack trial and a one on one race, you unlock another circuit. You get messages in a email-box, which is on the WindowsOS style menu. The setup is neat, and so are the characters and backgrounds, making this a fun game. The tough tracks and AI will keep it challenging.

Much better than you would think

Back when the GBA had just come out and Mario Kart was not to be released for several months, Konami came to the rescue with Krazy Racers. Since this was a launch game, it satisfied my need for a kart racing game and it showed off what the GBA could do as opposed to the old GBC. Now, while most people would just dismiss this as another Mario Kart ripoff, this game was actually alot of fun. The game features Konami's famous cast of characters although there are a few that I'm sure most people in North America have never seen before. The multiplayer modes were a blast to play and there was actually a decent amount of little secrets to unlock. Overall, this game is one that you can enjoy if your a fan of Mario Kart and you can probably pick it up for cheap nowadays.

Konami's Krazy Racers....

Leave it to me to play one game of a certain type and I get all krazy(pun intended) and play a ton of games in that genre. After recently getting Crash Nitro Kart, I started to look for different types of kart racers for the Gameboy Advance and was quite surprised at what I found for the GBA alone. One such game was Konami's Krazy Racers. It was the first kart racer released for the system. It came to the rescue when Mario Kart Super Circuit was delayed after launch and, by all intents and purposes, is a pretty dadgummed good racer, even standing next to Mario Kart Super Circuit, Banjo-Pilot, Crash Nitro Kart and a host of others. They call it Krazy Racers because there is a krazy cast of characters to choose from(everyone from Goemon of Mystical Ninja, to Dracula from Castlevania and Moai from Gradius)that are all from Konami games of one sort or another. The graphics utilize the Mode 7-style 3D effects for the track layout and, overall, looks good on the GBA. It's a very tight, solid presentation by Konami. With eight racers, 16 tracks, and a ton of racing modes...it'll definitely keep you busy for awhile.

The bad thing is, like most kart racers, it apes too much from Mario Kart instead of creating it's own style for a racing game such as this. Even with its' wacky cast of Konami characters and tracks created with their games in mind, it feels too much like Mario Kart.

At any rate, I'm not going to knock it. After all, Mario Kart started the whole Kart racing genre. I came looking for other kart racers and found this one so it's bound to duplicate that style. All in all, Krazy Racers is a great game. I found it to be an enjoyable and addictive one as well. So, if you're looking for games of this sort, it'd do you good to pick this one up.

I think that this game is really cool. There are lots of awesome characters to choose from, great graphics, and many unexpected surprises. I think that this game is WAY better than Mario Kart Super Circuit because you can control your cart a lot easier, there are more items to use, and the characters are a lot more fun. One of the strongest points of this game is that there are lots of levels that you can choose from to play on and you can unlock new courses when you take tests to get new liscences. There are lots of courses that you can choose from, some are even in space, on ice, or in the sky. There's a bunch of cool things on the courses like jumps and pools of a purple liquid that turbo charge your cart. Another great thing about this game is that there are four hidden characters that you can unlock. This is one of the best video games thet I have ever played and I hope you enjoy playing it too.
