Nintendo has really known how to make a great franchise work right on the money. Nevertheless, that has been true for the Mario Party franchise. Since its debut a few years ago, it has been one of the most surprising games you could ever imagine. Yet, it did have a few mishaps along the way. The game was released as a part of the e-reader card gameplay game for the lackluster e-reader. While the e-reader fizzled into oblivion, the Game Boy Advance is still shining. All that was left was to make a new kind of Mario Party that handheld goers would love. This is that chance.

Mario Party Advance for the Game Boy Advance really does fair quite well. The game has enough of the challenge, and the skill Mario Party has conjured from its days on the Nintendo 64, and the Nintendo Gamecube. The graphics and the theme stands out very well, with over 60 different exciting mini-games to unlock and challenge against other party-players. The music sounds a little more cutesy, but can be a little bothersome at times. The gameplay and control for each of the games is a bit more challenging on a D-pad, rather than the analog stick, but it really is very easy to pick up after a few games. For others, it also makes a great game for the Game Boy Player add-ons for the Nintendo Gamecube. The game is pretty dull for players who are just playing alone, but with others, it really is quite a party.

All in all, Mario Party Advance works very well for the Game Boy Advance, and shows a much needed improvement than before. This is a true must have for the Game Boy Advance player, who wants a little board mania of their own. If you've played it before, you'll love this Mario Party.

Not a party. Just a long quest.

This game is not exactly a party game. All you do is drive on a mushroom car around shroom city. You do like 50 quests and earn gadgets. The only characters playable is Mario(of course),Luigi,Peach, and Yoshi. But it is still a cool game. It even includes a Party Board for Multiplayers with only four characters playable. It's just an addition if you want to party, with four people. And you use your gameboy in a cool, yet weird way.And yes i almost forgot to tell you that it does have mini-games,and micro-games. Just buy it and you might like it. Just dont expect you can unlock new characters. And you get to put your information, and secrets. So if you and a friend battle in mini-games and beated you,he might get a chance to view your passport and secret! And yes there is a multi game(4-players)and it is a penguin race, which you dont control it, you just guess which one you think would win the race.....Very surprising!Yet there are a lot of missions and some are hard so it might get you busy if you want to complete the game. Enjoy getting those missing mini-games!

as kiddy as it gets, but there's quite a bit to it

I have played many of Nintendo's franchise games, and I have never seen a game so completely presented for kids as this game. I'm not a kid, but if I remember right, even a kid doesn't need a little twinkly star telling them 'This game's absolutely packed with fun.' For the first half hour the game just presents you with super-colorful image after sickening colorful image as you prepare your 'passport', a prerequisite to playing the game.

But after that, and after you get over the presentation so kiddy that it will make young kids sick, this is a nice game. Don't expect a party like earlier Mario Party games; this game is almost all for one player. Basically, its main mode has you driving around town running simple errands with limited gasoline, and to keep your car gassed up you have to win frequent mini-games. And most of the mini-games are pretty fun, especially if you learn them and try to set new records in the 'free play' mode.

You will meet many characters from past Mario games as you play. I know this is kiddy too but this I don't mind; I'm a Mario fan. I especially liked meeting the big round slime that was a boss in Yoshi's Island; the characters will bring back memories for a Mario fan as you explore town.

This game is enjoyable; not that enjoyable but enough to keep you coming back. That is if the childish presentation doesn't make you vomit.

Pretty bad game

I thought this game was horrible. Mini games are very hard and not fun, you need mushrooms to move around the board, run out and your dead.

It was a peaceful day in the Party place, when Bowser came and took all the mini games and E-Gadd's gadgets! OH NO! AND WHAT DO YOU DO? You play as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, or Peach, and they all start at different places on the board. You go to certain places and do quests for people that are to lazy to do them themselves. You run on mushrooms, and every new turn, you lose a mushroom. Lose them all, you are dead. You beat mini games to get mushrooms, and beat quests to get E-Gadd's gadgets. Sound fun? It's not.

Ratings:

Graphics: 5/10
They were okay, usually what you would expect on a GBA.

Sound: 2/10
I hated the bg music! It was really annoying. >>

Replay Value: 4/10
If your not already bored and returned the game, you can try to unlock every mini-game, like every MP.

Gameplay: 1/10
Worst MP game ever! The controls suck, the mini games are very hard, and you only have a certain amount of turns.

Overall: 2/10
Sucked, yet it's not as bad as Mario Party 7.

Rent, Pass, or Buy?: Pass, not even hardcore fans would like this game.

Not much of a party...

Don't get me wrong. This game is fairly easy to get into and goes quick. But calling it Mario Party is wrong. There's not much of a party as it's all single-player action.

The "game board" isn't like a board game as it is in the console versions of Mario Party. It's more like the town or land in Super Mario Brothers 3 or Super Mario World.

I really enjoyed going around the town and meeting the characters that live there and helping them with their errands. Although, some of the missions were kind of dumb (more thought could have been put into them).

The gadgetts earned are just silly. They don't really do much and are a waste of time going through them all. The developers could have spent more time on the actual game play instead of creating these strange things.

The game board is fairly easy to move around but running out of mushrooms is frustrating. It seemed that I would always run out of mushrooms right as I was about to finish a mission where I had to go all around the board and back. At least when the game restarts, all of the completed missions are still completed!

Overall, this is a very fun game. The main portion of the game goes by really quickly and I wish there was a second "level" to it. I guess thats why you don't get all of the gadgetts in town. You have to buy the rest of the gadgetts from Challenge Land which can take a very long time.

Great game

I would rate this game the third best in the Mario Party series, behind 4 and 3, respectively. This game has its own personality in that you have to move around the board and solve quests to get gaddgets. I like that you have to excel at mini-games to continue on your quests. I would say this game is quite easy, but that's what makes it so fun.

Enjoyable yet quick to play

I was a Mario Party fan and recently received this gba game. I really enjoyed playing it before I completed all the quests. I was really surprised that there isn't more to do. I do not yet have a cable to connect gb's so that might be fun to try. But overall, it was a pretty fun game. I have to agree that I was pretty frustrated when during the challenge mode, I was up about 4 games and then lost them all. Oh well, something to work on.

Best Game but What Characters are in it?

IF YOU ENJOY MARIO PARTY GAMES LIKE ME DON'T GET THIS.IT STINKS!HERE ARE THREE REASONS WHY I HATE IT.
1.YOU CAN ONLY PLAY AS MARIO,LUIGI,PEACH AND YOSHI!
2.NO STARS.IT'S MISSIONS THAT ARE SOOOO ANNOYING!
3.LACK OF OF MINIGAMES.
YES,THE MINIGAMES AND GADGETS ARE FUN BUT,THERE ISN'T ENOUGH TO KEEP ME OCCUPIED.
