Indeed a Great Game

Mech Platoon is a very good game that provides challenging levels, but fun never less; it does not play like advance wars whereas it plays real-time. You start by choosing one of the three teams, Leon, Minos, and Trampler. In the game you don't start out with the power to build all of the units, you acquire them by gathering parts that you salvage from missions, giving a new twist to the game. The units in the game have special abilities, which give it power over enemy units, for example it your unit you control has Assault - slay, the unit has more power when fighting close combat units. There are six buildings in the game plus one secret one, each of them can build, upgrade, or defend, however the seventh one... I won't give the secret away. As the game progresses the game gets harder and harder and the enemy units get smarter. But overall this game is a worth it, I suggest you to buy it because it's great, but it is hard to find in stores.

Great game- couple of problems though

GREAT GAME!!!!!

Even though there is several problems with it, I really liked this game. The graphics are great, and the intro movie is amazing. I think thats the best graphics I have ever seen on GBA.

Gameplay- The computer AI could have used a lot more work. It is rather dumb, but sometimes it is hard to win just because of the sheer numbers that it has. Also, once you select a unit and you send it somewhere, it becomes unselected. That gets annoying sometimes when you miss your target. I like the grouping idea though. I thought the whole unit system was the best part of the game. Its great- you can have over 40 different units to select from. I give gameplay a 4 out of 5 stars.

Sound- The music is the worst part of the entire game. Sometimes it gets so annoying that you shut it off, then you cant hear the sound effects. I like the explosions and the laser shots, but man the music could have used some work. I've heard Gameboy Color music thats better. I give music 2 out of 5 stars.

Graphics- The graphics are great; not the greatest, but they are better than average. And I just have to give this 4.5 out of 5 because of the intro move- you'll really like it.
I give Graphics 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Replay value- Yes. After you finish the campaign mode, you can play w/ your friends or play the computer.
I give Replay value a 4 out of 5 stars.

Overall a great buy, but it is possible to overpay for it. I hope they come out with a Mech Platoon 2 and fix some of the problems it has right now.

Portable fun for an RTS fan

I would buy this game, but ONLY if you like real time strategy games. Don't look at just the stars for some of those 1 star reviews, because those complaints could be said about any RTS game. Ok so the AI could be a little dumb sometimes, but that is what a link mode is for and yes the missions could be better.

If you don't like the genre, don't buy the game, If you like the genre, go ahead and buy it

Just what i hoped

I expected a game that was fun and kept me entertained. I was right. The game has a little differnent campaign mode depending on the group you choose. and always had a challenge. The game was easy to understand and quick to get going so it keeps you going for hours at a time. The game has 3 groups to pick from for campaign mode. The game it self lastes to 1 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours if your just doing one of the groups.

it is ok

A Strategic Blast

First off, fans of the Mechwarrior series should note that this is not a mech combat simulator. It is real-time strategy with mechs. If you don't like Star Craft and other games of this genre, stay away.
But for RTS lovers, such as myself, Mech Platoon is a blast. Its scope is somewhat limited, having only 26 missions, three resources, and seven structures. The mechs and technoligies availible for research are numerous, however. YOu begin the campaign by selecting one of three powers to ally yourself with, namely the Trampler, the Leon, and the Minos. Each has a different starting mech and a slightly different set of missions. You then fight six missions on each home planet of your rival powers. If you selected Leon, you must fight the Trampler and Minos armies. You then fight eight missions which are common to all the campaigns against a forth power, the Barabel, on their home world of Ruin. ALong the way you collect parts from defeated enemy mechs and use them to create new mechs of your own. Collecting all the parts in the game is quite challenging. Missions are fairly difficult, with varying objectives.
All in all, an excellent game, highly recommended for RTS vetrens and newcomers alike.

this is a great game. It was actually the first game i got for GBA. The graphics are good and the gameplay is really fun. At first you get a little bored when you start out because you have to finish the tutorials. But as soon as you past that the game gets better. I suggest that you send 1 labor unit whenyou send your troops so you can collect parts faster. Have fun with this one!

... This game is better than I even hoped! It is a wonderful RTS game and even more amazing that it is for GBA!!! Unlike Advanced Wars (whitch is a good game) you can move anytime you want, attack anytie you want and you gather your own reasources!!! The AI is sadly easy once you master it but... ...since my pals have it... boom!! Smash!! Kaboom! Our GBAs collide battling each other! ^-^U
