Better than its' home console brethren

The film Reign of Fire has a hell of a concept: humans against hordes of dragons in a post-apocalyptic Earth, and naturally that same concept would translate into a video game as well. However, its' bigger home console brethren are quite dull as a whole and are typical substandard licensed video game fare. This GBA version of Reign of Fire isn't the bestgame for the small system, but it is much better than the other versions. You control as many as eight soldiers at a time, running and gunning your way through ten levels while laying waste to as many dragons as you can. Now and then you'll be able to control a crop carrier or drive around in an attack jeep, but this happens few and far between, and a little more of this would have been nice. After playing through the ten human levels you get to play six more as the dragons, and this is the best part of the game as you fly around setting ablaze to as many humans as possible. The graphics are decent with nicely animated dragons, but the humans and backgrounds look too similar to each other. Also Reign of Fire's biggest flaw is its' lack of depth. The entire game is basically kill anything that moves with no real strategy or puzzle solving elements, but depending on your tastes this can be either good or bad. All in all, if you liked games like the classic Super Smash T.V. or the recent Dreamcast game Expendable, then Reign of Fire is a decent pick up, but not worth a full price purchase.

i cont rate this very accurately

well, first of all let me say this: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!! when I first walked into Fred Meyer's and saw this game, I thought, "wow, this looks cool!" after playing it through, my opinion has changed. the graphics are terrible, at best. I felt like I was back to playing an original Game Boy game. The gameplay is horrible, with your little men running around shooting dragons. end of story. there is a VERY short campaign, and once you beat it playing humans, there is an even SHORTER dragon campaign. The "many vehicles and weapons" is more like "3 awful vehicles and 1 weapon". The story lacks any depth, whatsoever. You run around and shoot dragons. period. It took me 2 days to beat it, and I wasn't even trying that hard. don't even waste your money. go buy Golden Sun instead.

Reign of Fire PS2 Game

I bought this [...] and I think I made a
good choice. Reign of Fire is a decent game, especially the
driving and shooting format of it. When I bought it, I though it was a 3rd person shooter, where your guy runs around (Die Hard Trilogy for PS). Plenty of Dragons, shooting and driving.

But then, that's all there is to it, just drive, shoot and try not to get killed by the dragons in the air. Woo hoo.

It took me a while to get used to it, as with everything, but the graphics are okay, the driving and shooting system is fun and simple, and the voice acting is similar to the movie's characters. Overall, great game if you've got the patience for it. (I do.)
