I've thought Call of Duty Finest hour was fun,but it seems to cheat on you.to unlock the cheats in the game you have to beat it,the germans will kill you easily because of your small bar even when you're playing easy mode.your comrades can be easily taken down and it seems the missions in the game are a little too frustrating. On the good side you'll have just the animation reel so sit back and watch the film...Or maybe you should give Medal of Honor:European Assault a chance?

i thought the first zelda was better then this

look, if your looking for a good multiplayer combat game do not think about this. it has no point, even the cover makes me wanna keel over and die. if you want a good game go buy madden 1995. the grafics are better there then here.

Lost in translation...

Ironically, I had preordered the console version of Call of Duty long before I had played the PC version. Yet with the release date oh so far away, I decided to take advantage of the recent price drop of the Call of Duty PC game hoping that it would tide me over. However, after playing countless hours of the game on my PC, I'd have to say that Call of Duty: Finest Hour is a bit of a disappointment. I understand that a console has nowhere near the processing power of a PC, yet I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed by FH's graphics which were simple and bland at best. However, I was mostly disappointed in the lack of save points throughout a level. That meant after spending ten minutes or so blasting your way through a difficult level, you would have to start the campaign all over again from start to finish if your player is killed. I always appreciate a challenge, yet not when the odds are overwhelmingly stacked against me. The one aspect that the console version did translate well was the "war is hell" theme. The beginning level featuring you as a Russian soldier taking back Stalingrad from the "steeking Germans" was intense with gunfire raining all around you and enemy soldiers around every corner. The death animations are overly exaggerated which made in difficult to distinguish whether or not an enemy was either wounded or dead only to have them shoot you in the back. I played this game for only an hour before I filed it away with my other games. I imagine that I will someday go back, but in the meantime, I'm having too much fun with the PC version.

This game is definitely not the best WWII shooter out there.

First, the good. The games in game graphics are pretty well done, although some of the environments are kind of drab. The sound production is also pretty good and does draw your attention when you come to a critical point in the level. Also some of the levels are extremely fun, like the "Ride through the Desert" level.

The bad is a little lopsided compared to the good. First off, the enemy AI(artificial intelligence) is really bad. In one of the tank missions, I zoomed in to one of the fields, and there guys just in there running around in circles. They will also just run at you giving you easy targets. This would make the game easy except it isn't. First off, there's like a million of them, each with what seems like a million grenades. So just when your health bar reaches critical, they'll through a cheap grenade and finish you off. Not very fun. Also, there is a few collision and hit detection problems that prevent you from actually taking those stinkin' Nazis out. IGN also stated this, and I agree: the game practically forces you to play this game Rambo style, and its not very fun. If your allies were actually useful, then this wouldn't so much of a problem. But they aren't, so its you versus a million Germans, each of them hiding behind a machine gun nest.

This game does not carry over from the PC very well, and so many things keep it from being fun. So I can't recommend it. Hopefully Big Red One is a lot better.

I believe that you are either an MOH man or CoD man, I am an MOH man and gave CoD a chance to rise above MOH and quite frankly it rises like soufflé.

It was all good gravy loading the game and getting ready to land on the shore in the first mission, but the graphics were archetypical Activision and took me back to the halcyon days of the N64, which the graphics resembled.

I thought the gameplay was slow and the graphics fused with the background on many occasions and trying to focus on one thing at a time was impossible. The guns were pseudo realistic but the sound was uncanny.

The characters were straight out of a Bond film, the Russians sounding like they had escaped from The Hunt For Red October, The Brits who all sound like Brian Blessed and with the Americans I was waiting on them stating that `they never watched there buddies die face down in the mud for this'.

Not bad but not particularly good either, but still worth a go. [...] you'll enjoy it better.

This game was very fun, but hard. I agree with the person who said it was hard to distinguish dead from alive. They stand frozen for a few seconds then fall, making them either recover and kill you, or you waste ammo. Also the save system. A level is seemingly impossible, and you are working your hardest, and you are killed, and have to start where you were about ten minutes earlier. So aggrivating, you are discouraged and turn the game off. And there is no multiplayer. So once you complete it (which I did in 2 days) there's nothing more to do. I also noticed a minor lack of famous WWII events. The siege of Stalingrad and the bridge level are the only widely known things that I noticed. This game was a lot of fun, with some tough times, and I at least recommend waiting until the price goes down because I don't think it is entirely worth it to some people. But it was a good game anyway, a suitable length, easy enough, overall a well made game.

If you can get past the mediocre looking first levels in Russia, then you will be rewarded as Call Of Duty actually IMPROVES the graphica as you play. The first few levels as the Russian sniper looked fair at best, but the game eventually brightens up and begins to tax the old Gamecube engine. Sounds are great as is the enemy AI. You gotta love the detail in these games. From German camouflage to the weapons, the designers really did their research. The German Army had 4 or so different camouflage patterns in WW2 (from the elite SS Oakleaf to the Splinter camo of the paratroopers)and you will see all of them in this game. Very detailed. The bodies do disappear about 5 seconds after being shot due to Gamecube memory limitations, but this is corrected in the new Call Of Duty Big Red One as the enemies now stay where they lay. Worth a purchase for 20 bucks!

Though it's short, Call of Duty's realistic in-the-war feel and sheer challenge will appeal to WWII fans and veterans.

So, what is Call of Duty?
Call of Duty is a game based on World War 2.

What do you do in the game?
The gameplay is very fun. You can use plenty of weapons which are all different, but equal. You can snipe, man turrets, search buildings, crouch, aim, jump. But the presentation ties it together nicely. Sometimes you may get stuck due to lousy instruction, but most of the time, you should be on key.

How hard is this game?
You can play on 3 different difficulties. Easy. Medium. Hard. Even on easy, the game can get somewhat difficult. The challenge is what keeps the player playing this game and it doesn't frustrate you like in other games.

How are the graphics?
Amazing. They aren't that high def, but the graphics create surroundings that make it feel like you are actually in the war. And that is what seperates it from most games.

How is the sound?
Great. It uses Dolby Pro Logic II. Everything on key. Without sound, it wouldn't be a war.

How long is it?
Short, I admit. It is only a couple hours long. But it's difficulty and fun gameplay will leave you coming back for more. Too bad Gamecube didn't give this online play.

Any unlockables?
Some cheats. Movies. Photos. The small stuff.

Who do you reccomend owning the game?
WWII veterans who want to look back at the wars. FPS fans who want a tense experience.
War/weapon fanatics.

Pros: Realistic in-the-war presentation ; enjoyable gameplay ; plenty of weapons to choose from and use ; Challenging game.

Cons: Slow motion moments are annoying ; No multiplayer or online play ; Short single player.

Call of Duty Finest Hour review

Call of Duty Finest Hour is a fun but challenging game. My favorite campaign is the Russian campaign because of the sniper levels, and because it isn't near as hard as the American campaign. A frustrating thing about this game is in the rulebook, it says the the Thompson machine gun is a high damage weapon. 3 enemies came out of a sewer once and it took a little over a whole clip to take them out. The Thompson has a 30 round clip. The tank driving in this game I found hard. German anti-tank soldiers constantly shoot your tank and the Russian tank is hard to manuever.
The British campaign is short, but challenging. The first 2 levels are hard because you have to take out 2 tanks with sticky grenades. I found that to be a challenge because the tanks constantly shoot you before you can throw a grenade at them.

Another drawback is your health bar is small and runs out fast. This game is fun but can be very challenging.
