For the Monster Truck fan!

My son wanted this game because he loves Monster Trucks. He got frustrated on "normal" mode, so we switched it to "easy" and he enjoys it a lot more because he can win. The graphics are pretty good, though not great, and the sound seems pretty realistic. I tried playing it and I enjoy doing the "cash grab" and "points" mode. Death match is a little harder since you have to be the only truck left standing when time is up. I don't really like the save feature. It appears to save the file based on your progress and doesn't give you the option of naming your saved file. If more than one person wants to keep track of what they are doing, you just have to save your file to a different memory card, I guess.

Love this game!

My 6 year old and I love to play this game!! We put it on surround sound and it's like we're at the arena!! If you play in the "season" mode you can pick your truck and take it through all of the arenas's. As you win each step you earn cash to upgrade your truck. When you get to the end of the "season" your truck becomes a special "champ" truck and is added to your choices of truck to use in the other games. I love that you can make it easy to difficult, and select any arena you wish. Recommed this for kids who get frustrated with other car games you have to score high points to get ahead or "open" extra levels.Fun for the younger gang (Mom's too!!)

Any monster truck loving fan is going to enjoy this game, and thanks to the official monster jam endorsment, there's going to be at least a few trucks they'll recognize. However, beyond that, the game isn't much more than a basic truck racing game. And I mean very basic.

There are many disappointing aspects of the game. The number of tracks and arenas is a little slim and the gaming options as far as mini-games and such gets to be boring quite quickly. The biggest let-down for me was the freestyle event. The camera angle (which you can't change) made it difficult to see where I was driving, and I only had a few seconds to score an absurd amount of points. Additionally, there wasn't a whole lot to jump over or destroy like in a real freestyle event. Also, one of the great things about monster truck rallies is seeing the trucks slowly fall apart, another thing this game doesn't do. It's impossible to flip your truck (probably so you don't get frustrated) and your truck only has one level of damage before it catches fire then disappears. Similarily, the graphics are only par for gamecube calibur.

On the flip side, the game can be quite enjoyable. There is a certain level of skill involved in defeating the other trucks and the overall choices in trucks is far from disappointing. There's enough to keep the monster truck lovers entertained for quite some time.

We can only hope monster jam and ubisoft team up again for some sort of sequel for the next generation of video game systems.

I am not particularly familiar with this game, but my 9 year old son loves it. He is thankfully not addicted to it, but enjoys playing it occasionally. He seems to be able to access all parts of the game with no assistance. It is not especially violent, except for the crashes and smashes.
