A star trek maniac

Hardly worth my [money]! I thought it would be a great SFC game but I thought wrong. The first two SFC were spectacular but ORION PIRATES went wrong in everyway possible!

Star Trek: Armada 2

Save your money, this game is a dog. It couldn't carry A1's lunch-box. If you liked Armada 1, you will really be shocked at how bad this game is. It reeks from top to bottom...

No good if it doesn't work on your computer.

This game will not work on newer computers. Even though tech support sent directions to allow me to play the game it still didn't work.

Dont waste your money!

Very Disappointed - This One's A Sleeper (MP)

I think a clearer distinction should have been made between Single Player (SP) and Multiplayer (MP) in some of the magazine reviews.

I was pleased with the SP component but MP was horrible! I say "was" because I "binned" it after trying to force myself to like it.

Most Annoying Aspects about MP:
1) There are only three Capture the Flag (CTF) maps!
2) There is no 1 vs 1 mod!
3) The scoring system in CTF is such that wins are based on score (not flag captures) so essentially it's just Death Match with flags (frag your opponents more than they frag you and you win)
4) The jumping is slow (almost like a perpetual low gravity)
5) You have to reload the weapons even though they are energy based weapons, which slows down gameplay (reload ENERGY weapons?! c'mon!)
6) BORING global taunts (no individual taunts/gestures).
7) The chat/HUD font is microscopic if your resolution is set to 1024 x 768 or higher (it's not adjustable...trust me).
8) The netcode is awful (if you try to run a server). it eats bandwidth like King Kong Bundy at a pie eating contest. Normally I could support 16 players on my network (lag free). However, there's tremendous lag if even eight players connect.
9) No support for Linux?! wtf? Are they serious? I'm not running Linux, but I intend to have a Linux comp. online shortly. c'mon! In the past that was acceptable but in this day and age you would think they would KNOW to provide Linux support right out of the box.

The game play mechanics are similar to UT2K3 (without the double jump). It's not at all what you would expect from a game based on the Quake 3 engine...and that's a bad thing. If I wanted to play UT2K3, I would play UT2K3 because it has FAR better graphics.

No wonder they didn't include a MP component in the demo. If you're looking for an average single player PC-based First Person Shooter game with a Star Trek theme, this game is for you. I wanted a good (not even great) multiplayer First Person Shooter. A total waste of money. If I could have borrowed it from a friend or rented it, I would have done that because it is definitely not a keeper. Let the buyer beware!

DO NOT BUY FROM VINDOR

The graphics are [bad]. What a piece of garbage! Armada was far superior! I ended up unistalling this waste of money 10 minutes after installing it. Go with the original if you haven't played it, or Bridge Commander. Much better choices.

This Game ....

I've been a die hard fan of the Starfleet Command series since it came out. Starting with SFC1 I had finally found a game that would hold my interest for years!

...I couldn't wait...bought it, installed it, played it, HATED IT!! This game is so far removed from the other 3 titles and it is a joke. By trying to appeal to the TNG fans and to attract new customers, the game was simplified to the point of a 7 year old could play it and win. Go into reverse and fire...that is it...no tactics nada.

It is a shame that such a great Game title has gone to the dogs....

DO NOT waste your money

Although I am trekkie and purchased this game with high hopes, I was immensely disappointed. The only positive thing I can say about the game is that most of the graphics are impressive. (One notable exception: when characters' lips move when they are talking, it looks ridiculous and unrealistic.) Every other aspect of the game is horrendous. Gameplay is very slow, and you spend a lot of time just watching events unfold, in sickeningly slow speed, on the screen. The game even manages to make battles boring--you just instruct your tactician, with a series of mouse clicks, to attack, and he fires at the enemy ship for a good five minutes until it blows up. This relegates you to the role of observer rather than participant, which makes for a boring experience. Also, you do not have the ability to save during a mission, so if you make a mistake and fail a mission, you are doomed to repeat the entire boring experience. I strongly recommend against this game.
