$49 for a Demo...where's the beef?

Lucasarts why have you foresaken me?? Fans of fast past first person shooters will find a quick, if unsubstantial, fix with this title from Lucasarts, but for people who have come to rely on lucasarts as their passport into the star wars universe you may find yourself wondering what lucasarts was thinking. First and foremost, the game has a staggering total of three levels, enough to keep the die-hard gamer enthralled for just long enough for our chairs to start getting warm before the end credits role. Second, serious Star Wars purists like myself may be wondering: Wookies or Wompas? Lucasarts lets me down again on making the aliens like Wookies and Trandoshans look all wrong, the Wookies were all about 100 lbs too heavy-looking and the Trandoshans were utterly un-recognizable. All-in-all, I thought this game was a decent start of a first person shooter that desperately needed to be finished before it was released, and that it was not quite worthy to say Star Wars on the box. If anyone from Lucasarts is reading this, I am expecting a better job from you on Empire at War!

awesome first person shooter! but they have to make a sequel

ok republic commando is great! =) there are to little locales though. =( the enemys just keep coming sometimes your buddies will get stuck and you would half expect jango to pop up with you cant leave without your buddy superfly. some missions are very hard some missions are very easy. the ending down right sucks. you can be revived by your squad mates if you die or you can revive them when they go down. when you lose your whole squad its game over man. sometimes it gets tiring telling your mates to go to the bacta tanks to heal its annoying saying yoo hoo go get some bacta dude. but they dont run out of the healing crap.plus they are better than health packs. there is a nice squad commands like search and destroy cancel manuver and defend and form up. there is some humor in it like sev saying damnit i dont beleive i lost count of my kills. or how many kills you got today psycho? and that is republic commando

People should not write reviews with no star to try to balance out people who write reviews with five stars who havent played the game yet. Most of these people who give a game that hasent come out yet a five star review have researched the game or tell people that they havent played it and are just speculating.

This game although, slightly difficult to get into at the beginning, will thrill you with hours upon hours of fun. The coolest function of this unique gameplay is the ability to interact with your squad in swat formations and military manuevers. Excellent game and one of the best i have ever played!

Fast, furious and fun, but ends abruptly

Gameplay is very smooth, and very quick. Environments are dynamic--options for cover and sniping change as battles continue. The game is almost too limited in the options for issuing commands to your Delta squad brethren, but command functions are well implemented and easy to use.

The major drawback of this game, as stated by many other reviews, is how short it is. The game in fact ends very abruptly, almost as if it was rushed to market without the last two or three levels. The ending cut scene insinuates that you will start the next section of the game, and then the credits start rolling. I was disappointed by the ending, it felt almost like I had played half a game.

Lucas arts probably just wants to max out it's income on expansion packs. Profit is alway more important than product quality--right?

Well done

Great game. The gameplay is great and the sound is superb, as well.

The intuitive way that you can assign your squad members to perform certain tasks actually works well, without being complex (aka Rainbox Six).

My only real beef: the game could have been a little bit longer.

One of the best Star Wars games ever created

I originally held off in getting this game due to lack of knowledge. Now I am glad I bought it. This is easily one of the best Star Wars games to date. It is one of my favorite games, right up there with Deus Ex and Half-Life. The graphics are pretty good, and the AI is pretty smart too. The enemies actually hide behind things instead of running towards you like some kamikaze with guns blazing. The members of the team you control are fairly intelligent as well, and they usually will do their portion of a task without you having to tell them, especially when you are separated. I did run into a situation a few times where one of my squad members would, for some unknown reason, stand somewhere and not follow me even though I ordered him to follow. But this was rare and was rectified by backtracking and making sure he followed me the second time around.

I ran this game with no problems on a P4 3.07ghz, Geforce FX5500 video card, and 1.5gb RAM. It never froze up, lurched, or suffered from lag. That is rare for an intensive FPS game such as this. Overall, I am very impressed with this game and would recommend it to anybody who likes Star Wars, FPS games, and/or squad based games.

This game rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When this game comes out, it will be greater than halo 2 by a mile, because i got to play the demo at E3, and it was awesome. This game has awesome graphics and an awesome twist with squad-based gameplay. The gameplay is better than Rainbow 6 back arrow!

Does not support joystick/gamepad

I really wish I could return this product. It would be an awesome game if you could play it with a joystick/gamepad (as you could with Battlefront). Even if you could change some of the options to a joystick/gamepad it would make the game better. Trying to play it with a keyboard and mouse was too awkward and no fun.
