I had a lot of fun playing this game, which has a lot of good things and a fair amount of bad things in it as well. Let's start with the bad. When you get up close to a lot of bugs at once, or there is a lot of dust flying around in the game, it kills the framerate. this happens a couple times in a few different levels. also, trying to get into a multiplayer game is harder than some of the missions in the actual game itself. When you try to get into a game that has 7 out of 8 players, it's generally full, and it tells you this only after you've waited through the long loading time of getting into the game. after that, it sends you back to the main menu, which you have to sit through another little loading screen for. this can just get tedious. but, if you do happen to get into a good multiplayer game (most of which are co-op mode), it can be very fun. the bug swarms in single player are awesome to watch, and i really dont see why most game reviewers dont like this game. i have lots of fun with it, because the frame rate issue rarely happens. i recommend this game to anyone that likes [nearly] meaningless violence and bug guts.

While the game maintains loyalty mainly to the Verhoven flick, the game is the closest thing you to an interactive bug hunt, fans of the actual book Maruder suits are going to get dissapointed, but if the suit dynamics alone are what you are looking for in a game than i suggest that you'd buy tribes: vengeance (no bugs though).

My Sons (8, 10 yo) Love It!

I had some initial problems getting it to run. It now works with a dual video graphics card (SLIx2 NVidia GeForce 6200) with an AMD 64bit Athlon with 2 GB RAM. I play sit-down strategy games by HPS, Talonsoft, or Matrix Games mostly (my sons call the "old-man games"). However, I turned the boys on to this game and man do they eat it up. I see them playing it a lot and they say "Thanks Dad for getting us this game". So, the review is based on these young boys. They do say that the game is hard to beat "even on easy setting" so game designers take note: make your easy setting such that a boy of 8 yrs can do reasonably well.

Soon to be incorporated...

This game is entertaining for a couple hours. The multiplayer is entertaining for a couple minutes. There is only a single mp scenario; defend point X. While the "swarm engine" is intriguing, and should prove more so when incorporated into games with more substance, this game is one to pick up used, and will not linger on any serious gamer's shelf for more than a week. Yes, it's an adrenaline fest, but there's little for the mind here. I bought two copies for my son and I, and both are already resold, after a single four hour session. Serious Sam II is more enticing than this boondoggle. That being said, the images and the combat are loads of fun. For a couple hours.

This game rocks!!!

I love this game. It is the best game i have played. There are some pros and cons(mostly pros). The graphics are great and you can have so many guns and the ammount of ammo it lets you have is amazing now for the cons. The storyline is too short, I wish there were more levels also there are some bugs that take like 30 minutes to kill like the adault plasma bug at the end of level 4. I recomend this game to any sci-fi fan.

Really enjoy this one. Used to play Starship Troopers when it was a board game with dice and charts, much better now. Only problem I have with it is the nearly undestrucable Royals. Need to increase the hit zone for thier weak spot, its way to small!!

While this game does have it's shortfalls and I would've rather had the power armor that the first version many years ago promised, I am definately pleased with this version of the game. I have no problems running it on my laptop, and when I'm not out on missions in Iraq all I do is play SST!!! Some of the objectives are a little mindless, go here and push that then blow up some bugs, but the swarm engine and the bugs' AI more than make up for it. I love the weapons and their functions, none is an uber weapon that can do anything and alot of the new bugs actually make sense and some even come from the tv show Roughnecks:Starship Troopers Chronicles, also a good buy.

Can't even play the full version

There are a lot of techinical problems with this game. There are many people who can't play this game at all, and I am one of them. It will not even launch for me. I have a 256 MB graphics card, as good as they come. I have a 3.4 Ghz processor, 1 GB of memory and a 250 gb hard rive which doesnt get much better. From scanning forums and sites trying to find answers for why this game does not work, I saw many people complaining about shading problems like streaks across the screen, and problems like error messages that randomly pop up and exit you out of the game at the worst times. From the demo versions however, it's apparent that the game is worth playing. The units both bugs and humans are well though out, and the graphics are very nice. The swarm engine is very interesting because you can have massive amounts of firefight and almost no lag from it. I reccomend only getting this game if u meet every requirement and have ONLY the video cards specified by Stranglite. it doesnt matter if you have the best card available, if it's not specifically supported by the game, it probably will not work. This is not a game for casusal players who keep the video card that came with their computer.

I like this game...alot. It was very intriguing since it piteed you against so many people at once. I speak the truth when I say I felt like I was gonna die with so many enemies in the later missions. IT was NUTS, I recommend it for everyone that loves a challenge and a decent storyline.

Bad. Grainy Video from the movie. Wooden voice acting. Ugly character models. Jaggy indoor areas that look like PS1 graphics. Hope you like primary colors! Ugly, flat looking bugs (sprites! so old it's new) who make annoying squeaks. Hundreds and hundreds of annoying squeaks.
I played it for a good 15 minutes, chuckled to myself and uninstalled it. To it's credit, there are some decent looking landscapes, and the Bugs swarm in a nice fashion... but the same could be said of a landfill.

No Me Gusta.

Sony picked up the film license and lost alot of money at the time... so I guess they didn't want any involvement in this title. Too bad. I really wanted to like it.
