Hmmm.....

OK, so after waiting a very very long time for mario to come out, i rushed to buy this the day it came out. I got the last copy on display and rushed home to play it immediately. well, it's mario, but it just doesn't seem right. his voice in certain parts sounds much like mickey mouse, but that has nothing to do with my review....

the game lacks any real depth. the plot is stupid. the challange of each level is very easy. granted, you will probably die the first time you try certain parts, but every task in this game can be accomplished within two tries unless you are five years old, which happens to be the demographic we were told nintendo was trying to loose....the camera angles are horrible too. no zoom, and the camera gets stuck all the time.

don't read the comments obviously made by nintendo exec's. it is amazing the langauge abilities certain 11 year old gamers have. they are right up there with the best advertising geniuses. just take a look at some of the reviews and it is very obvious that they are fake and prefabricated by someone from nintendo or quite possibly amazon.com

my verdict: rent it, then decide....but once again, the gamecube dissapoints....when is something worthwhile going to come out on this pathetic system?

Eh.. =S

This was the very first game I got for my Gamecube. At first I liked it because it was a big island and I just explored it! I quickly got bored of its bad storyline and mediocre game play. It gathered dust on my shelf for about a year and the other day I stumbled across it. I started a whole new game and got bored of it all over again in a half hour.

This game had GREAT potential but falls short. I see why some people like this game but only for real hardcore mario gamers.

Since this game is getting old, the price is low so you might want to buy it just to add it to your collection. However, if your experience with this game is like mine, you'll dig out that good ol' n64 and play Super Mario 64 and Paper Mario to remind yourself that most mario games aren't like this one.

Frustrating.

This game is an exercise in frustration. The developers know just how to go that one step further in a challenge to turn a game from fun to maddening. I would not recommend this game to anyone without buckets of patience. The platforming is unforgiving; one tiny slip and its back to the beginning to try it all over again. Sometimes you're not even put back at the beginning, and you tediously have to make your way back to the challenge. I don't possibly know how younger children would be expected to get through a game like this. I was more frustrated with Super Mario Sunshine than I was with Jak II. There must be a special place in gaming hell for people who enjoy torturing a person like this. I can only hope.

THIS GAME IS TOO FUN!!

First of all, my mom is going to buy this the day it comes out!
I have played the demo, and I couldn't believe how fun it was!
Just running around is fun!Anyway, I am here XBOX and PS2 owners,I am your worst nightmare. This game is the reason that
Microsoft and Sony will regret ever entering the video game
industry.Sell those crappy excuses for a game console and buy
a Nintendo Gamecube and Super Mario Sunshine!P.S. If you call
this a kiddie game then you will regret it.

Mario Sunshines new realesed name is Super Mario Sunshine. I would just like to say this game is the best out of al the Mario games. He has a weapon a nice new home in Mexico, a few alein freinds and he still has his buddies like Yoshi and Toad and all thoose good things...I want to see Mario's come back from his mirror treatment from Boo. This time you won't be fighting Bowser and I seriously don't know who you will fight this time...

How can Mario still be this enjoyable for a 27 year old?

This review is coming from a longtime player of the "Super Mario Bros." series of platform games from Nintendo. In fact it really started with a horrible version of Donkey Kong which I used to play on the Atari Video Computer System (aka VCS or 2600.) I am almost embarassed to admit how much I enjoyed playing Nintendo's (and designer Shigeru Miyamoto's) newest game "Super Mario Sunshine." The game is not as revolutionary as "Super Mario 64" was. Then again, it couldn't possibly be. Mario is a platform run and jump game and should always be. SM 64 broke the bonds of 2D side scrolling, to deliver us a new fangled 3D plumber that could move in any direction. "Super Mario Sunshine" is to "Super Mario 64," as "Super Mario World" on the Super NES was to all the previous NES versions of Super Mario Games (namely Super Mario Bros., SMB 2, and SMB 3). That is to say that it improves upon the already established mechanics of its predecesors. O.K. already... onto the game. Mario looks great, and for the most part, his environments do too. Sporting some fantastic environmental water effects, and other effects such as the graphic in the distance experiencing some distortion due to heat, Mario has never looked better. I have noticed that a common gripe about the game, is that the camera angles for viewing can be troublesome. The camera is now a dynamic part of the control scheme, where as in SM 64, the camera could be adjusted manually, but was automatic. YOU NEED TO CONTROL THE CAMERA IN SM SUNSHINE MANUALLY!!! Get good at it too, because it will help you. I really enjoyed this new aspect, as I felt even more in control of the little plumber than ever before. Now the bad stuff. There are very few criticisms I have of this game. One is that there is a really lame level in the game called Sirena Beach. This level simply doesn't belong in the game. The "world" is very small compared to the other ones and is not very fun. For some reason there is a sunset here all the time. The environmental graphics are the least impressive in all of the game, and I found myself wanting to rush through, just so I wouldn't have to play it any more. Now set that aside, and the rest of the levels ("worlds") are very impressive. My favorite level graphically was Noki Bay wich simply has to be seen. All of the levels (except 1 ;-)) were fun in their own right. Sound in the game is super, with island themed tunes keeping the mood very well. I have to mention the water pack, FLUDD. It is an awesome new feature. It is fun and the attatchements for it make the game more enjoyable. Mario is more mobile than ever. The best compliment I can pay this game is that it is a worthy new game in the Mario lineage. Here's to hoping that we don't have to wait such a long while for our favorite plumber to return.

Many people expected too much from this game. I didn't. I got just what I wanted, and then some. I can't wait for Mario 128.

Graphics-5/5 great graphics and water effects.

Play control-4/5 Perhaps the only semi-weak point, at first the control is a bit loose. But by Gelato Beach, you should have a good feeling for it.

Game Design-5/5 120 shines is a lot, and Im still working on it! The cinema scenes are worthy of getting popcorn and a front row seat for.

Satisfaction-6/5, I don't know the amount of replay value it offers, since I haven't got all 120 shines, but it does have a second ending, and just spraying stuff with water is a blast. Yoshi adds another point.

Sound- 5/5, catchy music that plays in your head for a while, and the sound effects are realistic.

The Good- HUGE world of play, YOSHI! YOSHI! YOSHI! (holds up yoshi banner)

The Bad- play control is rough for rookies at first.

The Ugly- Has Mario gained weight?

five stars only for the game play and graphics
