This is the best game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In this game you play as nine diferrent characters:
Loyd Irving:A 17 year old kid who has the brains of a jellyfish, and the heart of a hero

Collette: The chosen one, she's really nice and unselfish

Genis: A cute little 12 year old genious and a loyal friend

Kratos: A mysterious bulk of power

Raine: Genis's compassinount older sister

And a lot more that I'm not going to spoil, all of these characters fight in an awesome battle system. the graphics are beautiful, And the storyline.... I could talk about the story for months, its so deep! It starts out childish, but man it gets better!!!

I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, ok you may say this game is cheezy, you may say its too long(it is really long, but that makes it more exciting!!!) and it's really long, but it's one of those rpg's that IS real. It's like Zelda the ocarina of time (my former favorite game) times 10! When I play it I am amazed by its emotion, by its colorful graphics, its characters, its story, its everything, this game is PERFECT!!!! My favorite game ever!!!! Please go rent it NOW, and if you like it, buy it, you won't regret it!!!!

Tales of Symphonia is Awsome!

Tales of Symphonia is Awsome! I have it and I like it alot. The battles can be a little boring though. But I like the charachters and the secret techs. But there's alittle bit of saying the D and B word.

Snap! Case in point, this game owns my heart

So yeah it starts as slow as any game ever could, in fact the first two hours are unbearable! It only picks up after you join Colette, then, damn son your life is owned. I've never been so obessed with a game in my life. I'm spending hours just fighting bad dudes and trying to find new EX compounds (I got it so I couldn't get status ailments, that is sick!). I mean the story gets better at first I rolled my eyes and sighed, then as I played well I just couldn't wait to find out what's next. The game has laughs, Raine is hot, freakin' Sheena is a fox and Collette, naw not my thing. But anyways, I haven't beaten it yet, but it's intriguing, the characters have more depth than I expected (it seemed more like a Saturday morning cartoon when I started it) there were laughs and some of the puzzle are kinda fun (some are aggravating, like that stupid wind temple riddle, argh!) like the when you get to shrink yourself with the Wizard ring and fight giant rats, awesome. Combos are great, earning titles, getting famous and paid, yeah this game has go it. The only complaint I have is that the bosses are sometimes damn hard! It took me forever to beat the Sylphs and it makes me feel like such an inferior being using 20 life potions in one boss battle (INFERIOR BIENG!). Plus it sucks that Sheena can only summon when she is over her limit! Oh man you just gotta pick this bad boy up! I've played the lamest and I've played the best, ya know junior! I"m junior, biatch!

what fun!

I ADORE THIS GAME!!!!

Of course when I first played it it took me hours to understand since I'm not that great at gameplaying...the second time (since with your GRADE you can make things a little bit easier) was a breeze and for people who say it isn't 80 hours I BET they didn't do any of the side quests. Like the wonderchef, the devil's arms, everyone's strongest weapons, reaching level 100 or meltokio colisseum.

I personally love this game. But might I say I despised the characters at first but if you carefully watch all of the conversations they're all pretty cool-except colette..she sucks no matter what. She says "I'm sorry" basically every time she speaks. Even when Lloyd tells her to stop apologizing...she still does it! GAHHHHH!!!!

Lloyd is the easiest with skills. I find him easy to fight with. And presea is really strong...wow. At first she is basically nothing, she has no emotions or thought but she's really interesting..especially when you get her costume (I bet you guys didn't get all their titles either). With her "relation" to Regal I didn't really like him either. But since I play Lloyd and I had all the combo conversations to get their relationships up, he's very fatherly to Lloyd and cares about the group.

Genis is in love with Preasea and i don't care what you say he's nearly as bad as colette. UGH! But his sister Raine is an exceptional character since she slaps genis I do get enjoyment out of that ^_^. And SHEENA! whoo I adore her. Sheena is my favorite character-she can summon spirits, make pacts, use gaurdians and depending on how you control the game she may become Lloyd's girlfriend! (flanoir scene)

Zelos is very umm..perverted. but he is pretty funny. His sister seles..oh man do I hate her!!! Kratos (in relation to Lloyd..his father) is a very cool character. He is one of the four seraphim but he also helps out Lloyd because he's on both sides (Kind of like Askitaka in the movie Princess Mononoke).

And I'm glad Mithos dies at the end cos he sucks.

MUSIC: very good, I love the songs. I have the soundtrack which is lovely also might I add

CHARCTER DEVELOPMENT: Lloyd's kinda too good for my taste and so is Colette. Luckily Genis got on my good side when he held Lloyd back when Colette was about to sacrifice herself. Raine stays basically the same, she has many fans (Like Linar and Zelos) and is a very knowledgeable half-elf. kratos becomes a very amazing character at the end. And Sheena becomes a strong person. Zelos..it depends, he may become good or go horribly evil. Presea kinda changes but not to much. And regal who for some reason never takes those damn shackles off finally changes once you get the rheiards and you start looking for the talk scenes

SCENES: the dialouge takes forever but I don't mind sometimes..sometimes

COMBAT: Can be EXTREMELY difficult with some characters. I suck with the magic so I play Lloyd or Kratos(when he is a playable character)

FUN: I <3 it

Hmm, This isn't a review, just a heads up. Tales of Symphonia is exclusive to the Nintendo Gamecube, not the Playstation 2. Tales will eventually see a ps2 release, but only in Japan. No US release for the ps2 version has been announced.

Edit: Glad to see it's been correctly listed. This is a highly anticipated RPG.

The First RPG for the Gamecube

(Skies of Arcadia and Evolution Worlds don't count!)

Story: 2/5 ToS has that story that RPG fans have heard over and over again... Someone must save the world, a few friends come with her, more people come, etc. If you've played Final Fantasy X before, you'll realize that Tales of Symphonia shamelessly rips its storyline from that game.

Characters: 3/5 Again with the RPG stereotypes. You have the cocky teenaged guy who wants to help everyone. The girl that has to save the world from destruction. A mysterious mercenary. Two elven magicians. Although, once you travel to the land of Tethe'alla, there are the far more interesting characters of Sheena, Zelos, Presea, and Regal.

Graphics: 4/5 The cel-shading looks very good, but the fact that NAMCO removed almost all of the anime-style cut-scenes on the first disc takes away from the experience, as cel-shading can only have so much emotion. Although, once you finally DO get to the cut-scenes(ALL TWO OF THEM!), you will be pleased.

Sound: 3.5/5 The musical scores are done very nicely, although, the majority of the music you'll hear are the world map theme, battle theme, and "pre-boss battle" theme. The rest is masked by attrotious voice actors pathetically performing their lines. The voices hardly sound natural at all, and on the rare occasion that they do, it'll most likely be a short line. Since the GCN discs have such little space, there was no room for the original Japanese Language track, unfortunately.

Gameplay: 4/5 The battles control nicely, and the computer characters' AI actually isn't bad. You can change certain aspecs of how each character battles (frontlines, long-range magic, do nothing at all, etc.), and can choose what moves you want them to use or not use, even during battle. However, battles even with bosses tend to be a bit too easy, and button mashing will usually occur.

Look, I know that there hasnt been a good rpg on gamecube for a while now but that will soon change. If you like rpg games then youll love Tales of Symphonia. I for a matter of fact couldnt wait for it to come out cause its been so long since the last rpg game on gamecube. The last ones i can think of are christal chronicles (witch wasnt a true rpg game) but skys of arcadia legends (witch was more of an rpg.) Listen, if you like rpg games, I strongly suggest that you buy this game, you wont be dissapointed.

Addictive

I don't have a lot of gaming experience, I have played a few games but never have I gotten so addicted to one as this. This game was sugested to me by a friend. I rented it and didn't end up putting the controller down for two days. I bought it and have played it every day since because I just can't stop. The characters are fun and they develop as the story progresses. Some of the interactions between the characters are hilarious. This game draws you in almost as if it were a movie. You don't just want to win the game, you want to see what happens next.
