This game was fun while it just began, but after awhile you find it kind of frustrating because you can't do anything. The graphics are pretty bad, the plot is okay, the levels are not really fun and sometimes the characters are annoying. I would only recommend this game if you are good at solving 5000-piece puzzles.

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, Jack and Daxter, Chrash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet and Clank, Zapper the Cricket, Frogger (the recent ones), and the list goes on. They are all the same! Sure there may be a few differences in style and gameplay, but its all the same thing, find the items, save something, collect coins, jewlels, or whatever, and use the same basic jump and attack on a bunch of the same enemies walkin around. Ty is simply the new addition to this little family, and quite frankly, it has gotten very old. The minor inovations aren't near enough to put this one up and away from the rest. But if cliché adventure games are your thing, then have a blast. But for the rest of us, something new please.

FANS OF 3-D PLATFORMERS WILL FIND LITTLE NEW HERE.

I HAD THIS GAME FOR A LITTLE MORE THAN A WEEK AND TURNED IT IN. TY IS CERTAINLY CUTE. HOWEVER HIS ADVENTURE IS PRETTY BASIC. YOU GET TO COLLECT THINGS, RUN, JUMP, SWIM, DEFEAT ENEMIES WITH DIFFERENT BOOMARANGS AND USE YOUR BITE ATTACK. THIS GAME IS BASICALLY YOUR RUN OF THE MILL 3-D PLATFORMER. DON'T GET ME WRONG THIS ISN'T A BAD GAME. I'M SURE IT'S SOMEONES FAVORITE GAME RIGHT NOW. MY POINT IS THERE ARE A # OF OTHER ADVENTURE GAMES FOR GAMECUBE THAT ARE BETTER THAN THIS ONE.

somewhere in the middle....

Most games geared towards kids are pretty low quality, relying on a well-known license to sell it. Ty is not among these. The quality, while not groundbreaking, is adequate. Excellent sound. Decent graphics. Commendable, though not entirely perfect, controls. But because it is a standard platformer, with standard everything, it is also subject to very linear level design, which is all simple in nature, and a ridiculous amount of collecting. While the game is kid-friendly, it can also get a bit frustrating in some areas, too. Ty takes about ten to fifteen hours to beat, then give another two or three hours to collect everything. But the collecting becomes a tedious chore, and by then, the game runs out of steam. Overall, a decent game, but I'd only recommend it if you've run out of other games to play.

Great Platformer / Great for Kids and Adults

I'm an adult that still likes to play video games. The game is a all around fun platformer (Adventure) that I enjoy and so does my nephew that loves the game. The controls are easy for someone young to play, but the game has a lot of wit and humor that an adult will like. Yes if you a hard core gamer this might not appeal to to you, but if you are looking for a game for the whole family then this is a good title.

Its a good game

... The game is good and fun to play because of all the small movie scenes and such, but it should be just a little more complex. There should also be more levels. I just started this game and it is pretty simple. You throw boomerangs at enemies and bite your way through boxes. It's kind of like Sonic where you have to collect coins except they are reddish. Then you have to get special golden rings (forgot the name) and give them so that you can recieve a better boomerang. Overall, this game deserves 4 out of 5 stars because it looks to easy. The good part is that it doesn't take up a lot of space.

Great game, but for us "gamers", this should be rented.

I started my GameCube up and I was instantly sucked into this wonderful world of Aussie creatures. The opening movie was littered with goings-on, inside and outside the storyline. Millions of leaves blow by as Ty falls from a tree. Amazing. Although Splinter Cell supposedly has the best graphics ever, my vote goes to Ty.

The gameplay is what sets this apart from most games. Although it is very close to Jak and Daxter, it makes playing fun. Jak and Daxter is a much tougher game, and you do not feel close to the characters. While Ty seems to have trouble with matching voices to mouth movements, which Jak mastered, the gameplay is much smoother, and the objectives are within reach of any gamer. Although you can rush through this game, the real pleasure is in finishing the game completely. Every thunder egg leaves a fun mission or puzzle in your way. Although this game is based on a Thunder Egg collecting system to beat the game, which helps you power a machine, this reminds me of the Power Cells from Jak, which aslo power machines. Coincedence?

The only flaw in this game is the camera angle system. The game leaves all of the camera movements up to you. One last flaw is that to turn Ty around quickly, you have to pull back on the control stick, which sends Ty into a slide move backward, which can leave you at the bottom of a cliff, or in an enemies grasp.

My final rating would be a 4.5/5. This is possibly the best platform game I have ever played, and it reminded me alot of Gex for the PS.

Great kids game!

I bought this for my kids ages 7 and 5. They both really enjoy this game. Great graffics and fairly easy to play. It is challenging enough so that they don't finish the entire game in one setting, but also easy enough they don't get discouraged. My husband and I have also played it and had a great time. For the price, it is definitely a great purchase!
