Great game, pretty steep curve, need a great computer

I really think this game could have been better if they focused more on how well it runs. It slows down even powerful systems but is fun. I haven't played it that much so take my review with a grain of salt.

Supreme Commander reigns Supreme

Supreme Commander is quite possibly one of the best RTS games I have ever played. It may not have recieved the fanfare and hype that some of the others have gotten, but it is easily just as good if not better. The graphics are excellent, as is the gameplay. The sheer amount of units capable of being built is great for those who always wanted to have giant battles without the tedium of having to build more farms or houses for them. Up to a 1000 (!!) units can fielded at a time, and the maps are enormous! Forty-one km by forty-one km at its largest is a lot of ground to fight over. Additionally, the nuclear weapons are some of the best I've seen in a game. While some have been lots of fun to watch in other games, like StarCraft and Command and Conquer with the little mushroom cloud, in Supreme Commander, the screeen just goes white. And stays white while your base is annihilated. When it comes back, you're left with half your base and whatever managed to survived. Which isn't much since after all, it is a nuclear weapon and not some 500lbs bomb.

On the down side, it really does require a hefty system to run it. Not for the meek. And 8 GB of harddrive space is no joke either.

WoW! Beyond my expectations

Graphically, probably one of the best looking games I have ever seen.
Game play is fast and furious. Great community on the chat as well nice network interface (auto matching and custom games)

I would have said its TA2, but really, TA2 wouldn't have had this kind of great game play. If you have a chance to play this (when it comes out) DO IT! You'll have fun playing or have fun dying!

This is the best RTS game out. It has great graphics and is very fun. One problem is the high requirements. However, if your computer can run it, buy it!

I ordered this?

The previous reviews sum this up fairly well. I had a much better time playing the Rise of Nations series, including the quite enjoyable Rise of Legends. This isn't even the same ballpark as the greatest RTS of all time- Total Annihilation, so I was extremely disappointed AND out $40.

I have been waiting for this item to release for a while. I was finally happy to see another widescale full-on total war game. When I go the game I was really upset about the type of mentorship program/tutorial. Instead of videos it should have been inter active. The program is a bit sluggish. Even on a quad core don't turn it to max everything. I love the nuclear explosions though, especially when you blow up the enemies supreme commander. Where it lacks for in detail it makes up for in theater of combat. The story line could have been better but it does leave room for a greater expansion. If there will be on.

Labor intensive

I tried the Demo and while a cool looking game, it is way to labor intensive. Power/mass consumption is way out of line. I had 22 generators, 5 mass extrators and 8 mass fabricators with only a land factory and air factory and 5 defensive guns. Nothing else but it would not keep up with power and mass ??? I got overrun by the computer on EASY. Not fun.

Sad extremely poor programming

Runs slow on a Dual Core with 2 GB of ram and 256 MB of video ram. It takes extremely poor programming to get this kind of a cr*****y game. Many other games run much faster while displaying many more polygons. The game play it's self of course is nothing new. Same old Starcraft knock off. Unit interaction is cumbersome considering most units are not visible if you zoom out enough to see their full firing range. Changing screen resolution does not help. I would go with Warcraft 3 over this anyday. Now If only I could return this piece of ........

Tedium

Utter tedium. Large, boring maps where the primary strategy is to build, build and build... and finally tank-rush your opponent. It's also very inaccessible for the casual gamer, ver much like COH.

I welcome Command and Conquer 3 with open arms!
