Very complex and solid beat'em up for PSP

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 3 / 3

If you like beat'em up type of games this is the right product for you. I played it mostly commuting and since I live in NY and the game's scenario is based in here as well, it made it even more enjoyable for me. The game play is pretty solid and complex. Sometimes it is really challenging, although in general you can finish the game pretty fast. The graphic is good (maybe sometimes a little too dark) - sound is terrific - it is like watching the movie. I would highly recommend this one especially for the people who loved the old Double Dragon as well as for the GTA fans.

Warriors...Come Out To Play!

This is a blast! Reminds me of Manhunt. The dark late 70's sci fi thriller music makes it really dark. The graphics and action are slick quick and brutal! I can't believe the quality of the animation, action, audio, and graphics.

This game really sucks you in, just like the Grand Theft Auto series. Based on a cult movie from the late 70's, its a fun odyssey. Its pretty much "Gang Theft Brawler: NYC Stories". Its really violent and fun, with all kinds of savage street weapons, run ins with the cops, burglary, muggings, beatdowns, and 70's blaxploitation lingo.

Managing your gang in realtime, with nicely primitive gang function commands (mayhem, wreck'em, let's go, watch my back, hold up, etc.) gives it some strategy flare, and makes it more like an RPG, or less redundant, anyway.

I like the fact that this has a 2 player option; perfect! Especially since the movie inspired the Double Dragon video game.
This game really immerses you in a real city: New York, NY and surrounding urban areas. I've never been to NYC, but I know a lot of the geography is used in this game.

The plot is decent, since it fills in blanks around the movie script.
This game may get redundent, but we'll see. The movie was about how the Warriors (your gang) traverse the city, full of other equally weird looking and brutal gangs that are hunting your gang, for good reason.
The soundtrack includes "I Love Livin In The City" by none other than Fear. It just spells every reason I'll never live in the suburbs.

Can you dig it?

One of the Best Renditions of a Hollywood to Handeld Conversion

The video game is impressive in its simplicity. You don't need maps and guides to get through the levels, but it will keep you entertained with plenty of action and details.

The story plot carries well and the controls compliment the graphics. I would definitely not recommend this for kids. The language is way too crude and while true it's only a video game, it is still glorifying street crime, graffiti, and violence. I'm not jumping on a moral high horse, but I would not give this game to a child.

I saw this movie in 1979 (I was not yet 16 but still got in to see it). It was the height of "toughness" in that era, especially if like me, you lived in an urban neighborhood where everyone thought they were bad a**es. The game so far takes you through the same perils that faced the characters of the movie. It's impressive that Rock Star games was able to re-capture the momentum of The Warriors and pack it all into a hand held.

Turn the volume down or use headphones where you're on a plane or other public place (due to the foul language). I play the PSP on my long commutes to work or flying on business trips and you have to be aware of your surroundings when the audio is on.

What a great game!

This is the third game I bought for my PSP and I was amazed at how good it is for the price! I was expecting a typical fighting game but I wasn't expecting a good plot and bonus games as well!

So what's so good about this game? First of all, if you like fighting games, this is a good one. I like that you have the ability to use different weapons and you can "tag team" with the other Warriors to create special fighting moves. Second, just like GTA games, this game has a story behind every level. While you play the game, you hear about what exactly is going on and why you're fighting these people. You can also play a ton of bonus games. You can play "Flashback" levels where you hear about how the Warriors were formed and you get to steal/destroy/mug/spraypaint your way through each level which adds a lot of entertainment to break up the fighting. You also can do bonus missions and play arcade games at the Warriors hideout.

What's not to like? I've played a couple good hours of this game and I've found nothing that I dislike. This is rated "M" because of the language and violence so I would definitely not recommend this to younger kids.

This is a great game to add to your PSP collection!

I bought a psp through craigslist, and it came with four games including; The Warriors, GTA-LCS, Socom 2, and Rainbow six vegas, when i got it I played every game except The Warriors because I thought it was going to be some stupid MK like game. But when I got around to playing it I was addicted, I haven't played any game since!! Buy it you won't regret it. The story mode is awesome!!

If you're looking for something of a mix between GTA, and Manhunt, you're looking at the right game! Wonderful game play with many hours of play, although it can be a little repetitive. You can have a second player combine forces in co-op and also battle you in multiplayer. You can smash up the entire environment, as well as use basically anything as a weapon. Steal radios from cars, rob stores, and wreck police officers; whatever it takes to prove The Warriors are not to messed with.

I am new to the PSP craze (just got it for Xmas 07), so I haven't played many games. But this was the only one I have that derailed my Grand Thief Auto addiction. Once I started playing it, I couldn't put it down. There are so many controls that at first I was worried, but after about 20 minutes and the great tutorial, I was a pro.

Took me about 15-20 to pass it, but there are probably some things I could go back and do. Much like GTA, there are several missions besides the plotline that you can play. After I was done, I popped GTA back in and I have to tell you, The Warriors is so much smoother, faster and gameplay is a bit more interesting.

I will say, it does get slightly repetitive near the end (which is also kind of anti-climactic), but if Warriors 2 ever comes out, I'll be first in line.

This was a surprising find for me. I never even heard of the game before stumbling on the listing. There is a lot to like about the game play and design. Sometimes the colors are just too dark comfortably view in the daylight but it still works pretty well as a psp game.

Like the movie, but even better!

I got this game because I played it on my old XBOX, and I liked it quite a bit. It plays every bit as good as the console version, and fans of the movie will enjoy it very much, as it is very loyal to the film. The opening credits will look very familiar to anyone who has seen the movie. The game not only follows the events of the movie, but it greatly expands on the overall storyline and shows how each member of the Warriors got to be in the gang. Fans of good old-fashioned brawlers will love this game.

The Warriors live on

If you liked the 1979 movie, you'll love the game. It borrows from the main theme of the movie and even expands upon it. Though I have not made it through all levels of the game, I can say that I have enjoyed the game thus far. There are different scenarios and bonus levels that make it interesting and vary the gameplay. One bonus level even simulates an arcade style version not unlike Double Dragon.

The language in the game is definitely R rated at times. But remember, this is supposed to be thug life on the streets of New York City. Help The Warriors make it back to Coney Island!

I highly recommend this game.
