Fun Co-op Game

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 7 / 7
Date: February 14, 2004
Author: Amazon User

My wife and I played this game immediately after finishing Conflict Desert Storm (game one) and really enjoyed it. In comparing the two games I can say the primary differences are:
1.) CDS II has better graphics
2.) CDS II allows you to save more often
3.) CDS II is shorter
4.) CDS II is easier to complete
5.) CDS II has more vehicles to drive
Overall we really enjoyed the game and it's probably something that you can rent and finish in a fairly short amount of time. I paid $35 for my game and I thought that was a good value; however, I'm not sure I'd pay $50 for it. If you're looking for a good co-op adventure game try both Conflict Desert Storm and Conflict Desert Storm II. You can now buy the first game for $19.99, since it's a platinum hit.

This is a 4-player Game

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 11 / 16

Amazon currently lists this game as a 1-player game but it is just like the first in that it has up to 4 player co-op play.
The best way to play this game is with 2 people where each person controls two soldiers. That way you are yelling at each other when a tank kills almost all your troops.
This game jumps right into the action where the first left off. In fact it was so suprising I didn't know what I was doing and was shooting my own teammates in the middle of a huge firefight within 20 seconds of starting the game.
There seems to be some more variety as far as missions and equipment but for the most part this game has retained everything from the first.

Oh yeah there are vehicles. Its kinda like a Halo Warthog only they don't drive like a zero-gravity bumper car. The vehicles in this game drive much more like I imagine a jeep would drive.
I wish this game were longer though because when it ends I just want to keep going.

One of the best quad based fighting games ever

Conflict Desert storm 2 is one of the best war games on the market to date. You lead a 4 man sqaud of a sniper (foley) a man specializing in explosives (Jones) and a guy with the high powered guns (connors) you also have a squad leader (bradly). The game uses realistic command to tell your squad to follow you stand down fire at will and many more. The missions are a real challenge and usaully you must play multyplayer to beat them multyplayer is very fun so this is a good thing. There are also many diffrent weapons to choose from like diffrent guns explosives, and other things that come in handy like binoculars for scoping out the area they also have night vision. Here are some pros and cons of the game.

Pros:
1. Realistic squad based game
2. You get to control 4 guys
3. Tons of weapons to choose from
4. You can tell your men many commands
5. You interact with helecopters Jets and can drive tanks and a jeep type truck
6. Great game
7. Enemy can surprise you and arnt predictable
Cons:
1. Missions can get hard at times

Overall this is a great game and I sugest you buy it. Its defenitly worth the price.

An awesome squad shooter!!!

I'm very impressed with the improvements added that have made this title better. First is the ability to combat roll in the prone position. Second and most important is the improved enemy A.I. and overall apperance of graphics(with the exception of the new Jones). The combat system feels more solid in execution, however bodies still vanish and you still have to locate weapon caches for ammo. This sequel is based more on urban combat(and we're talking some big, intense maps here) than on the open desert fighting of the first game. The X-box version still has the great multi-player cooperative format, which is the best feature of the game.

Outstanding shoot-em up

If you love a squad based shoot-em up game this has got to be the game for you. The game has outstanding graphics from the great Xbox power.
Through out the game there are excellent missions what are just outstanding and mission that once I got started I just could not stop until I had finished them.
The overall weapons that are available to you are just outstanding.
Through the game you can interact with helicopter Jets. With the vehicles you can drive tanks and the main vehicle that you can use is a jeep type truck.
This a great game for the shoot-em up gamer , I must say must have.

Amazon has stated the ""1 Player is a Miss-print""!!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 5

I have contacted Amazon about the ""1 Player", & is it correct or a missprint?.... Yes!!! Its a miss print, """Desert Storm II Back to Baghdad, The Xbox version features an exclusive four-player split-screen coopeative mode for brilliant multiplayer action. You can actually play through all the missions with three of your buddies.""" Amazon will see about fixing the missprint. I hope this helps.

SO INCREDIBLY UNDERATED AND MISAPPROPRIATED...

WHENEVER I COME ACROSS A REVIEW ABOUT DSII THAT RATES IT AS MEDIOCRE TO AVERAGE, I'M SO BEWILDERED AND CONFUSED....
AND THEN I DRAW THE SAME CONCLUSION - THE DESERT STORM SERIES IS A THINKING MAN'S GAME, IT'S NOT FOR THE AVERAGE MINDED GAMER WHO JUST WANTS MAYHEM, CHAOS AND IMMEDIATE SATISFACTION THROUGH DESTRUCTION - THOSE OF YOU WHO NEED THAT, PICK UP "GRAND THEFT", AND BE BORED WITHIN AN HOUR. DSII WILL GIVE YOU YEARS OF ENJOYMENT.

DESERT STROM II HAS SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT OVER DESERT STORM, AND THANKFULLY SO. BECAUSE MY FAVORITE GAME WENT FROM DESERT STORM, TO DESERT STORM II.

I HAVE YET TO FIND ANY OTHER SIMULATED WAR GAME ON ANY SYSTEM THAT OFFERS WHAT DSII OFFERS. NO OTHER WAR GAME ALLOWS YOU TO DROP AND ROLL. NO OTHER WAR GAME HAS C4 PLASTIC EXPLOSIVES THAT CAN BE MANIPULATED LIKE DSII. NO OTHER WAR GAME HAS CLAYMORE MINES, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, NO OTHER WAR GAME ALLOWS YOU TO MOVE YOUR OTHER MEN AS STRATEGICALLY, EASILY AND ACCURATELY AS DSII.

THE SNIPER IS FAR SUPERIOR TO OTHER GAMES, THE BAZOOKA, THE FOCUS ON ENEMY TROOPS IS A MILLION TIMES BETTER. THE LASER DESIGNATOR WAS THE FIRST AND BEST. OTHER WAR GAMES DON'T HAVE THE PHOSPHORUS GRENADES THAT SET ENEMY TROOPS ON FIRE. THE GRAPHICS ARE WONDERFUL AND THE SOUNDS ARE SUPERIOR TO THE OTHER WAR GAMES. THE MUSIC IS TREMENDOUS. THE FACT THAT IT HAS SO MANY DIFFERENT LEVELS THAT YOU MUST BE SUCCESSFUL AT TO CONTINUE IS SO GREAT, AS WELL AS 4 DIFFERENT SETTINGS: EASY, MEDIUM, HARD AND EXTREME - NO OTHER WAR GAME HAS THAT!!!! I'M TELLING YOU, THIS GAME ROCKS!!! THIS GAME IS AWSOME!!! I'M PRAYING FOR DSIII TO COME OUT SOON.

I HAVE TO ADMIT, WHEN CONFLICT CAME OUT WITH VIET NAM, THEY FAILED. THAT GAME DESERVES A MEDIOCRE RATING. BUT I THINK THE REVIEWERS OF DESERT STORM I AND II, WHO GIVE THIS GAME AN AVERAGE OR BELOW AVG. RATING, CAN'T SEEM TO GET PAST THE EASY LEVEL, AND ARE JUST FRUSTRATED. ANYONE GIVING THIS GAME ANYTHING LESS THAN 5 STARS IS JUST SOMEONE CONTENT WITH GAMES THAT DON'T REQUIRE TOP SKILL AND THOUGHT.

An Exellent Squad Based shooter kinda reminds me of the war

This game is great; with the cool guns, vehicles, combat , squad orders, it makes you feel like your in the gulf war. I just rented this game and I had 2 friends over to spend the night and we had the most fun time in cooperative. I was just amazed at how fun it was even when i beat it I kept playing, I highly recommend this game.

One Flew Over the Iraqi Nest

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 3

First off let me say that there are a few problems with the reviews here. One being that most people have the game rated at 0 stars, but when reading the review it obviously should get more. Secondly, if you've read the reviews, yes it is not a one person game, but 4 players. Anyway, getting to the game, let's just say it's awesome. Firstly, any game that has custom soundtracks makes the action 10 times better. Throw in the soundtrack for Black Hawk Down, or some good death metal and the adrenaline will start pumping. This game is much more challenging than the first, enemies don't stop attacking which means you'll have to set up your soldiers in positions while another advances, it makes it much more realistic. Not to mention the Iraqi's have impecable aim. On that note, for being special forces, these guys sure do shoot off-target, the problem being that when your soldier aims at an enemy he aims at him. Anyone that's ever played a first person shooter or shot at a moving target in real life knows that you have to lead it. This results in hitting the target while it's moving. I spent 100 rounds firing at a moving target. It gets annoying. But you live and you learn, and you wait for it to stop moving. Another good thing about the tank AI is that when a tank rolls in it faces you. This means that you have to find a way around the side or back to blow it up. This usually results if you lay down some smoke bombs to cover your soldier. Sometimes you even have to lay C4 on the tank and blow it. Bottom line, it's a good game, although it only took me 3 days to beat, they should have had more than 10 missions.

Misprint For a GREAT GAME

OK firt of all....GET A GRIP. It's a miss print all right, and this game looks to be even funner than the first. I havent played this game yet(it just came out today), but I've been to their site and read articles in magazines and it sounds like it's a great game. If you play by yourself the game gets old real fast, but with your 3 best friends it's awesome. And there is nothing like staying up all Saturday night with a case of Mountain Dews playing this game screaming every once in a while, "Iraqi Down!" (what the guys say in the game). YOU MUST BUY THIS GAME!!!!
