Good mix of video game action/graffics/d&d rules

Heroes has a Gauntlet feel with spells, abilities, equipment, characters, monsters, and damage/expeierience rules taken from the Dungeons and Dragons role playing game. The game does an excellent job of giving players enough options without taking away from gameplay. Best is the ability to pause to make adjustments(good for sinlge player) or make changes in realtime(great for multiplayer). Graphics are superb and the cut scenes enhance the gameplay. The main weakness are the storyline and the senarios (limited to kill monster/find object/open door)and character interaction is nonexistent.

3.5, Great Concept, Less-than-Expected Execution

I got really excited about this game, so I went out and rented it-fortunately that was all I did. This game comes across as another Dungeon Siege. It seems that people have been jumping all around the DND PC game scene and few have come close, but none have been perfect. Gameplay is walking around, listening to people give you quests, and then you fight through a bunch of monsters and get whatever item they wanted you to get or kill whatever thing they wanted you to kill. It jumps to cutscenes in the middle of the game, which does manage to keep your interest since they have nice sound and high-res graphics. Overall, though it gets very repetitive and you will be thanking God once you get out of a particular area.
Some games to get instead of this:

Dungeon Siege PC
Diablo PC
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Xbox
Jade Empire Xbox (when it comes out)
Icewind Dale PC
Baldur's Gate PC
Neverwinter Nights PC
Elder Scrolls III Xbox

In case any game developers are looking here, the perfect Dungeons & Dragons adaptation would have all that NPC interaction you find in Bioware/Bethesda games, plus big hackin slashin action found in Zelda and DND Heroes. Ever we wait for the day.....

I am a big fan of fantasy action games so this game really hit the spot for me. I love the fact that you can choose 4 diffrent charaters and the fact that it's multiplayer you dont see many of those these days. I would recommend this game to any fantasy fan or to anyone looking for a good action game.

Graphics: I've never seen a cover with such bright red texture before. Well done Atari!

Gameplay: I can't get the box open but you can play interesting airplane games with the box.

The only reason I gave this game 4 stars is because you can only play airplane by yourself for so long.

This game is great! The handling is good, the fighting is excuisite, and the graphics are great! The only thing that bugs me is the angle. That kind of bothered me on Buldar's Gate as well. Otherwise, it is great!

This is very similar to gauntlet legends. For example, you use keys to open chests, blow open barrals and boxes to get supplies, and use levers to open doors. The graphics are very nice especially the fire. You get to control the camera using your right joystick which can be a pain becuase when you start fighting you might not have time to change your camera angle. This game is very addicting but you might want to rent it first to see if you like the camera.

D&D back on the rise...on the Xbox!

I really enjoyed playing D&D: Heroes. If you loved Baldur's Gate on the Xbox as much as I did, you will love this one as well. The gaming is simple and the story is right out of a D&D Module, so any die-hard AD&D or D&D fan should enjoy playing this game. I like the fact that the controls are really easy to learn and the gaming is quick. The battles are many and ongoing. I cannot wait until they go beyond the fighting and create a D&D game that involves puzzles to solve as well. I also recommend Baldur's Gate II (of course), and if you are a PSII player, get Champions of Norrath to try some online gaming. Awesome!!!
