BEST NEW GAME OF 2003!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 25

Enter The Matrix is one of the best games i have ever seen. After reading all the previews and seeing all the screen shots I decided to preorder it and you should to as i am still waiting for it to come out and it looks better and better!. Max Payne fans should start salivating here, as the focus system is very much like bullet time, except that there is alot more you can do. If u loved the movie then you will love this. Now the hacking system, this is incredible u can hack into your xbox and make guns, items etc appear anywhere on da map!! and download fight styles into yourself, now thats kool. I would like to give this game more stars but cant, it is a MUST BUY! for all the matrix fans or anyone looking for a really good game (ON XBOX OF COURSE!).

Incredible

Story - the story line is great...the game plays exactly like one of the movies, and the fact that a script was created for the game makes one of the best movie-to-game ports I've ever seen.

Sound - one word: Awesome. The effects are great, the music is timed just perfect (when agents enter, fight scenes start, etc. the music is set plays just as if it were a scene from the movie)

Game Play - the fighting moves are very well done. There is so much to learn, so many little moves that you can pull off. The bullet-time effects are easily the best out there (Max Payne doesn't come close). The only downside is the camera angle gets odd at sorta crucial times (don't get into corners when fighting!) and durning "focus" mode the game physics get off, i.e. people can fall into solid objects, etc. - although to be fair, these glitches don't happen often.

Replayability - there is a lot, according to the makers this has about 25-30 hours of game play time, well you can play as 2 different characters, and the levels are not the same as you play through, so to get the experience of both, you'd end up with close to 50 hours of gameplay (this assumes you play straight through, without having to start over...)

Graphics - they are very good, my only complaint is that you can't destroy the environment as in some games (computers, lights, etc...), but that is just my destructive side kicking in...

I must admit I have never had so much fun playing a game. It does a great job of taking you into the world of the matrix, with cut scenes (both Full Motion Video and regualr video game video) that follow a logical sequence of events and take you though a story. The producers have said that the story lines weaves in and out of The Matrix: Reloaded, so if you've seen the movie, you'll understand bits and pieces better. This is worth the ...price tag.

Definitely a Rental

I've played this game for about 4 or 5 hours, and these are just my first impressions. There may be more to the game than I've seen, though.

First off, I would not buy this game, it is a good rental, but I have a feeling it could get boring fast. The fighting is cool and everything, but it's pretty easy to kill the cops, and you just run from the agents. You can punch, kick, or throw. The moves look really good unless you're at a bad angle and can't see anything, which happens more often than it should.

The focus feature also is very visually entertaining and provides more souped-up moves. You can see the bullets whiz by (or hit you) in slow motion, and you can walk up walls and jump really far. Again, this is cool at first, but can get old fast.

The car driving is definitely the game's worst feature. You can't really do anything but drive around (no shooting at people or dropping bombs behind you a la spy hunter), you just drive away from cops. As one review said previously, the physics are horrible in these scenes. The cars don't move like a car should, and visibility is poor. You'll be driving along and all of a sudden a cop car drives you into a wall. Of course, you sustain no damage to your health until they shoot at you. And it's just not fun. If I wanted to drive, I'd play Gran Turismo.

The story is fine--it's the matrix. Some cool graphics, and because of that I recommend renting the game. You may like it more than I did, but I would give it a try first.

You'd think it would be better.

I've played this on PS2 and XBOX and have yet to try GCN (but trust me only having one of them is fine.) Essentially every game looks the same on each system and has the same storyline, extras etc. Therefore there is no "best" version that you can get.

To start off the game has nice graphics and sound....and that's about it really. Gameplay is nice but it gets VERY repetetive and therefore eventually gets a tad big boring. It's nice to see all those slow-motion videos and such when you want to but that loses its value. Especially when everything you can do combat wise has already been done to its full content in the movies alone. I gave the game three stars because its not really bad, but I didn't have much fun with it.

I'm not usually one to play games based on movies, or are a spin-off a movie for that matter. But everywhere I looked these gaming magazines had given the game a pretty favorable review...so what the hell right?

The only reason to really get this game now is if you were interested in the plot of the Matrix movie series and if you didn't fully understand "The Matrix Reloaded." Other than that there isn't much more to say. The gameplay gets more repetetive than your average action/adventure game. It's insanely easy to beat (until you get chased down by six agent Smiths). The only reason its so easy is because should you get low on health you can easily avoid enemies and your health gauge will gradually restore itself which, I don't know about you, but for me completely takes the challenge out of the game.

Overall, not a bad game but I really can't say it's the worth forking over the money to buy. It's another overhyped game that we were tricked into buying. RENT this game first before you choose to buy it.

This game has great graphics, but the game is so easy because you can do 2 moves to win the whole game. The dodge one and the attack one. Don't buy this game

Don't buy it......Rent it

Fun game, lots of FMV sequences that aren't in the movie, with lots of great back story....but the game play is pretty repetitive, and really easy to beat, I beat it with both characters in a total of 3 days. Fun, but not worth forty beans...

If you liked the movie....

first off I'd liked to start by saying that this was an awesome game, I loved it i got it shortly after its release and having benn playing it ever since, when you first pop it in it seems like most of the other third person shooters, the slow-mo button
doesn't seem all that better than that of max payne, but then you start running up walls disarming SWAT team grunts and using crazy kung fu action to engage agents in a series of crazy backlipping jump-kicking battles, you have the choice of playing as jada pinkett smith's charecter Niobe or her first mate Ghost, each charecter has different missions so that after beating the game once you still have some challenges ahead... the controls are simple enough so that it doesn't take much effort to dodge bullets, dive through windows, or ward off multiple opponents, the hacking program provivdes a nice break from the fast paced action, providing cheats to the less talented gamers...BUY IT!!!

Strategy/shooter game=many hours of play

The game has movie clips which is awsome. Even on the easiest setting you will be challenged. There are cheat codes avaliable on the internet too (beware: codes are not saved in your xbox after you quit the game).
