The most unique beat em' up adventure ever made!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 0 / 0
Date: September 21, 2007
Author: Amazon User

Cooper, a teenager (probably 14 or 15), is attacked by monsters. But instead of squealing [just because he doesn't have a gun], he beats up his enemies with furniture and objects around him; as well as using his powerful teenage body to attack monsters unarmed! In any story, monsters would never expect that; and I believe that some people who played this game learned new courage and reckless bravery.

It is a pretty difficult game the first time through, but it's so freaking funny that you'll laugh off your frusteration! The clumsy monsters often cause more damage than you do; and make such hilarious groans, moans, and noises. I have memories of laughing until my sides hurt while playing the game, because the monsters were such reckless idiots! Even when you lose, the game has no game over, so losing is almost worth it, because it's so insanely funny.

The game controls are also as unique as the game itself. You use the right joystick to attack; along with the freedom of 360 degree attack angles; plus adjust camera angles with the 2 triggers on the X-box controller for less awkward perspective while in combat. The only downside is that you can't jump or climb, but the game is still insanely fun, WAY under-rated, and far too unknown [there never was a platinum hit edition of the game]. It strongly diserves a sequel, and I'm sad that it didn't get the ratings it deserved. For those of you who haven't played it, buy it, because a few nights of renting it won't be enough time for you to get used to it and stick with it. It's WAY too fun a game to give up so hastily, so have fun!

Looks good.. but fairly repetitive

Sometimes I can play a game for hours and not even notice if it's repetitive or not. Grabbed By The Ghoulies was one of those games that I just couldn't get into. It's a haunted mansion romp that looks and sounds really impressive, but it's ultimately marred by repetitive, overly simple punch-and-kick gameplay that's compounded by the game's lack of length.
The gameplay in Grabbed by the Ghoulies is deliberately simple. The left stick moves Cooper, and the right stick controls Cooper's attacks.. fairly simple. While Grabbed by the Ghoulies may present itself quite well, the dull gameplay that hides behind the great graphics and sound really hurts the experience. The game's short length makes it perfect for rental, as most anyone should be able to blaze through the game and see many of its unlockable items within a day or two.

A LIE!

I am here to tell you that Grabbed By The Ghoulies is 100% unorginal. It basically copied Luigi's Mansion! Well then again, that's what Microsoft does best, copying games from Nintendo. Remember Blinx the Time Sweeper? A copy of Super Mario Sunshine! As if that wasn't bad enough Microsoft is planning on stealing Nintendo's ideas for Donkey Kong Racing! Any day Nintendo could sew Microsoft! Besides the fact that Grabbed by the Ghoulies is a copy, the game itself sucks! The controls, the story, EVERYTHING! You go into these boring short levels as a guy named Cooper (who is tie with Blinx for the worst video game charcter ever created) who fights mummies and ghouls! Really lame! Also on the cover it says from the creators of Donkey Kong Country. What a lie. Nintendo created Donkey Kong and Nintendo gave it to Rare (who once was good but now has went to the dark side) to develop, not take all the credit for! Stop cheating Microsoft and play fair!

I Play The game

The Story: When I beat Medusa in the Lighthouse Store I also beat the Imp in the Lighthouse Lantern Room. A Boathouse, the Lighthouse Living Quarters, a Woodshed and a Chicken Shed were really hard but I did it. This is a really difficult game and that made the victories all that sweeter! I didn't hurt Mr. Ribs just like the Cook told me not to. The animation was great! Cooper and Amber were boyfriend and girlfriend. Cooper saves Amber and she is grateful.

Rare makes anouther masterpiece.

People that belive this game is too kiddy and disided not to by this game. This game is fun. This game was composed by "Grant Kirkhope" the man that made music for legindary games like (Perfect Dark, and Goldeneye 007) many more but music for those games ruled; Grabbed By The Ghoulies music is no exeption. The gameplay is fun and challenging; I don't know how a six year old could take this game at such difficultly. I enjoy the Ghoullies and and the characters you meet around the mansion. This game prooves Rare still has it.

People this game cost $14.99 plus tax; common by it; this is a present for a price a great game.

It is a long game and is challenging but you should rent it first because if you are 13 or 14 you probley wouldnt like it.

This game looked pretty cool when i got it for x-mas but when i sat down and played it it wasn't very fun. All you do is go around beating up gouhls all the time it gets very boring. So if you still think this game is cool then rent it first and see if you like it.

Excelente juego.

Great for younger kids

My girls are 7 and 8. They absolutely love this game. The controls are very easy for them to use. It's the first game that I have bought them that they were able to play completely by themselves. Provides hours of entertainment and laughter for them and a much needed break for me. However, I must warn that the game is way too simple for adults to play.

This is one of the best games I have played on X-Box. It keeps you entertained, the graphics are good and the levels are challenging yet attainable. Each level provides you with a new obstacle and no two levels are exactly alike. This game will keep you entertained for hours. Search for the hidden book in each room to unlock mini-challenges and Watch Out for the Reaper!
