Grab a copy for your kids -- or yourself.

If you've ever played a game by RARE (the guys who made the Donkey Kong Country and Banjo-Kazooie games), you'll know what to expect when you play Grabbed by the Ghoulies. A fun game that everybody in the family can have a good time playing.

I expected the the game to be visually stunning (and it is) and the game play to be fun (again, it is), but I didn't expect myself to spend so much time on a "kiddie" game.

Don't get fooled. This isn't a game that's easy per se. The different challenges will actually get that adreneline running and you'll be leaning forward in your seat. This is the kind of game that you can play with your kids or let them play alone when you've got chores to finish up.

Some of my favorite moments are when you get to use the wacky selection of weapons (chairs, water guns, hamburgers, pictures, brooms, etc). When you're surrounded by a bunch of ghoulies -- skeletons, ninja imps, mummies, zombies, vampire chickens -- and have to use your joystick to beat em up.

The characters are really funny and there's a lot of cool features that make this game a great gift for your kids or for yourself. Be sure to grab a copy of Grabbed by the Ghoulies.

One of the funest Games Ever!

This game is tons fun! My wife and I played it for nearly two hours last night. The game is full of great graphics and super sight gags. It would be a game that you wouldn't be affaird to let your kids play alone. It has a very comic book feel to the graphics and story line. The action is non-stop and the game moves really quickly. The very best part is that you don't have to be a mast video game player to get the maxium amount of enjoyment out of it. I'm not one who is extremely awesome at games, but I do really well at this one. The only draw back to it is having to use the right thumb stick to attack with. Other than that its a perfect game playing experience. Hope to hear more from the Ghoulies in the future.

Kudos to Rareware's First Xbox Title

As rabid Rareware fans on Nintendo, we bought an Xbox also expecting great things from the newly Microsofted Rare folks. GBTG was pre-ordered the first day put they option on the page.

It's good, but it ain't no Banjo-Kazooie or Tooie. The hero and would-be rescuer, Cooper, has rather minimal moves - he can't jump (very embarassing when a 12 inch tall box on the floor effectively prevents you from moving to the other side of the room. There is very little opportunity for exploration of other areas besides the immediate room that you are in. It's mainly a fighting game, without that much control over the type of fighting. Unbeknownst to the first-time player, a compilation is being kept of Cooper's successes/failures and finds, which results at the very end of the game as a "SCAREY SCORE". We had no idea while we played that such tracking was occuring - it wasn't noticeable on any of the screens. Lastly, it's a short game. My daughter and I aren't superfast players (e.g. Banjo Tooie took us 6 months), but we were SHOCKED to see the word "COMPLETED" on the screen after we defeated the Baron JUST A MONTH AFTER WE GOT THE GAME. That's it?!?!?

A good game, but low on the adventure scale and on the problem solving scale.

We're hoping Kameo has a little more of a Banjo lean to it...

Great Game for the Price

I grabbed this game for my son because Toys R US was having a video game sale. It was the best purchase I could have ever made. My son is seven years old and he and his friends LOVE this game. I hear constant screaming and laughing as they proceed through the different rooms of the haunted house. For children who are too old for baby games and too young for teen games, this is for them!

Don't be scared- it's very good.

In terms of production values and sheer fun, Grabbed by the ghoulies is 5 star. Controls are brilliantly simple to use (just the two joysticks) yet the action gets incredibly frenetic, with skeletons crumbling into a pile of bones, zombies getting filled with leadshot and monster pirates throwing chests of treasure at you. In fact the only people who won't like it are cynical, jaded magazine reviewers and people who think it isn't 'cool' to like cartoon-style games. Well let them sort out their anger management issues with a copy of Brutal Assault or whatever- Grabbed by the Ghoulies is pure animated magic. OK, it's easy and repetitive to start with but once the tasks go up a notch it sometimes becomes quite a challenge. (eg if you destroy any scenery, or kill a certain type of ghoulies the comical character of 'Death' comes to hunt you down until you manage to escape from the room, complete with a scythe that he likes to play air guitar on.) The in-jokes such as nods towards Rare games like Banjo (whose head appears hung up, moose-like, like a hunter's trophy) and Attic Attac (when they were Ultimate- Play the game) remind everyone that Rare have an illustrious history and continue to make it, regardless of format in this, their first game for Microsoft. This game is a big change from the sprawling, often needlessly empty caverns and corridors of their last game for the Gamecube, Starfox Adventures. Ghoulies is a tight, linear game packed with humourous detail. The only things that let it down are the animations inbetween scenes that might have worked better with full speech rather than the silent movie treatment and while there are plenty of secrets hidden amongst the rooms, the possibility of numerous routes and hidden rooms throughout the nice would have been a nice touch. This game has been overlooked in the Christmas scrum, I feel, but you should give it a go if you don't have the need for big guns to over-compensate for shortcomings in your private life.

Great starter game

I recieved this game in an Xbox bundle. I've been a hardcore Playstation fan since the debut of the system. So, this was my first Xbox gaming experience. At first I felt embarrassed to be playing a "kids" game. The characters seemed helpless and lacking of any common sense. Moans and grunts replace character dialog, and the storyline is slow and uninteresting.

Game play is much better than I expected. The mini-games basically teach a newcomer how to use the controller effectively, while the normal game play controls are challenging due to the escessive need to use the right thumbstick. Even an experienced gamer will appreciate that.

Normal game play was surprising. Initally unchallenging battles became increasingly more difficult. I often found myself turning off the system due to extreme frustration. The limitations or rules of each battle scene can drive you crazy. But the fun kept coming, the adrenaline did flow, and I couldn't stop playing.

Overall: This game is worth it. It's fun and exciting, for everyone. The "E" rating was a pleasant change from the graphic violence, profanity, and lewd characters that dominate the gaming platforms.

This is one of the best games I have played on X-Box. It keeps you entertained, the graphics are good and the levels are challenging yet attainable. Each level provides you with a new obstacle and no two levels are exactly alike. This game will keep you entertained for hours. Search for the hidden book in each room to unlock mini-challenges and Watch Out for the Reaper!

Grabbed by the Ghoulies is a fun game I am 13 and i like this game i got it with my Xbox when i was 11 and i invited a bunch of friends over for an xbox party and we all had a blast with it!
ok for my review grabbed by the goulies is fun at the begginning it had good music good sound and graphics but........ after youve broken your 90th chir over the head of a hunchback youl beg for something ANYTHING else to do and youll turn of the box then youll come back and for more. the game dosent really change just the rules so instead of taking out a room full of creeps youll have to do it in an certain order a time limmit or without getting hit etc but over all it is fun

Great for younger kids

My girls are 7 and 8. They absolutely love this game. The controls are very easy for them to use. It's the first game that I have bought them that they were able to play completely by themselves. Provides hours of entertainment and laughter for them and a much needed break for me. However, I must warn that the game is way too simple for adults to play.

Excelente juego.
