OK, it is a little linear as far as gameplay goes, but graphically it is the best out there.

I don't know where these reviews are coming from that say it doesn't look good. The only thing I can think of is the reviewers have weak boxes. It takes big hardware to run it right. I have a 2.8 P4C on intel 875, 900mhz fsb with 1gb pc3500, sata raid 0 and geforce 4 ti4200. It is stunning on this machine.

Graphics are noticably better than UT2003. Game play is a little slower than UT2003. He doesn't run as fast, but no lag and very high fps rates even at max rez. I think they slowed him down a bit purposefully so you can appreciate the graphics.

It is a nice combination of the all out frag fest of UT2003 and a storyline of a good role player. Storyline is good, NPCs are unbelievably detailed in their graphics.

It may get a little boring after the first run through the whole game since you don't have a lot of options with how the story unfolds, but if you want the latest and greatest in graphics, you can't beat it. This is how we all knew pc games could be with the right hardware. The future is bright.

Bring on UT2004 and Doom3. I am so ready.

The action isn't bad but the unseen sidekick (guiding you through the levels only verbally through the speakers) who sounds like one of the developers...HINT: Not a professional voiceover actor...is just plain annoying. You can't turn him off! The levels and graphics aren't anything to blow you away but die-hard fans may get a kick out of it.

what a linear snoozefest. first game i have EVER gotten the cheats for just because it was so damn boring. my intent was to finish the game as devoid of pleasure as i had experienced thus far, just to finish the freakin thing. couldn't do it- my tedium level breached i abandoned it completely. my apologies if the endgame is at all a payoff and i remain unenlightened. and now that i hear deus ex 2 is a disappointment as well i'm left to checking calender dates for thief 3 and half-life 2. i can only hope xbox compromises haven't shattered all creative integrity.

This game is great and the graphics are the best I have ever seen on my ati 9700 pro 128mg video card.

I read some of what other people said about this game. But I think the problem comes with trying to live up to the high expectations of Unreal 1. That is really the only problem I found in this game is that it had nothing to do with the first Unreal. Maybe some of the names of people and planets, some of the "Monsters" had a little of the same look. But for the most part everything else is different. And really I think if this game came out with a different name, nobody would be the wiser. I think this game is probably closer to Halo then it is to Unreal. (I mean running around in some suit, with some lady voice help guiding you.)
But with this all said, I thought this game was super! The graphics is what I was surprised at! This was probably the first "new" game I had gotten in over a year. I couldn't believe how great they looked, the "earth views" and other planets was just spectacular! The Guns were very creative! The "bad guys" were also creative.
It did bother me that the game had to "load" ever little while, but it shows how big the game is. The game was also a little short.
But I think for the price it was well worth it! I also think with the new Multiplayer add on you can download would make the game even better!
Bottom line, if you are expecting an Unreal 2. Don't, it has nothing to do with it. But if you want a good first person Shooting game, with creative guns, and "bad guys" go a head and buy it!
I have also heard this is coming out on XBOX, and is suppose to be really good with multiplayer action! I think that would be worth while too.!

This game is really cool. The graphics and sound are excellent. Anti-aliasing could have been better addressed, along with the character's movement speed. Everything is is top-notch, though. For everyone whining about how "bad" the game is - they're just Unreal (original) kids that are disappointed the sequel "isn't as good as the original" ... there's always people who think that whenever something is popular. This game is an excellent FPS. Go get it now. Especially for this cheap price. For multiplayer, get Unreal Tournament 2004. The "Special Edition" of Unreal II isn't worth the extra $10 because the XMP pack is a free download.

I was hoping for an upgraded version of the Game of the Year edition, but was greatly disappointed. While the graphics are decent, and some may like the SLOW introduction, it stayed on my computer only a short while ..... I'd much rather play the older version.

As is stated below, UT 2k3 is coming out. So why post complaints about a single player game that hasn't even come out yet? This game goes back to what made Unreal a big name in gaming. So lay off, at least until you can actually play it...

I've played it...its not nearly as bad as everyone is saying. In fact the graphics weren't nearly as bad as I thought they would be. You guys all need to shut up about how bad this game is cause its really not half as bad as you guys are complaining about. Just cause this is an average game doesn't mean that you guys should bash it. If you like average PC shooters then this is definately the game for you. The graphics are not as good as playstation 2 or anything. I don't want to hear anymore BAD reviews about this game. I've played many many games that were worse then this.
