Unreal is one of the best game sieries on the planet. Unreal was great, Unreal Tournament was awesome, and Unreal 2 is going to be incredible. The graphics are taking full advantage of every high end graphics card on the market, and this makes the graphics incredible. Even though the game has incredible sounds and graphics, the system requirements are very low. The game runs well on a P2 450 mhz (or so they say). If you have a high end graphics card, a good clock speed on your CPU, and a good sound card and speakers, and like first person shooters, you should definietely get this game. The game is having a great story line and has awesome tactics and graphics. It also has high replay value, for the game has different difficulty levels, and rumor is that you may be able to play as different people.

The weapons will be alien and human, and you are fighting in a fun, realistic, futuristic environment. UNREAL 2 SHOULD BE A BLAST!!

UT was Unreal

First off, Unreal and Unreal Tournament are really two separate series. Unreal is a single player game, with a story based play. UT was multiplayer and nothing more. Personally, I prefer Unreal better.

This game I am more than exicited about!

I love the unreal series..... yet when I heard about Unreal 2
coming out, I knew that with only a intel pentium2.... 350mhz, Ndvdia tnt, 128 sdram, I was not prepard for Unreal 2, Yet.....Once I got my killer system, a Intel Pentium 4, 1.7, ghz, Ndvidia's Geforce 2, with tv out, 256 rdram, and windows xp home edition....I'm ready now for unreal 2, and when it comes out, I'm going to kick [buttox] on it for sure!

Successor to the Original Unreal

Many fans of the Unreal series were drawn in by the excellent Unreal Tournament (UT) - surely the best ever First Person Shooter (FPS). However, UT itself was a progression from "Unreal". With UT having recently been updated to UT2003 the original Unreal is being updated to Unreal 2. And not before time! Unreal, in it's day was a major step forward in First Person Shooters but looks very dated now.

While UT was more recent that Unreal it is essentially a different type of game more oriented to multi-player sessions. This release, Unreal 2 will focus more on single person mission-based play. The underlying gaming engine in Unreal 2 is set to be more advanced than UT2K3 and will use the more recent functions developed in the graphics card sector.

This looks like a great game and is probably a must-have in terms of the importance of this release. However, one word of caution - watch out for the system requirements. My experience with UT and UT2003 has been that in order to play the game well you really need to be talking about a PC at the top end of what is available. Remember that the developers are putting this game in the market for the next few years not just for the next month so often they are pre-empting what systems are currently available. My advice would be to check this with one of the PC game magazines if you are not 100% confident of your PC. If you are confident then go ahead and get this.

Hope you enjoy it!

Look out Halo!

... It's a sequel to the original Unreal. Although it will be about five times better. It has great graphics from the screenshots I've seen and it just looks overall awesome. I can't wait. Also, the name is NOT Unreal Episode 2. The official name is Unreal II: The Awakening.

Incredible

When I first got this game installed on my new PC, I was thinking, "Well, this will hold me over until Doom III." I was absolutely wrong. Id software better have a storyline this time, because the Unreal II experience was like playing a gnarly sci-fi movie.

The scripting is timed perfectly, the voice overs are entirely appropriate, the characters are lovable, the dialogue is funny. It was seriously like playing a Space Marine in the Alien movies, but better. And let's not forget about the awesomely huge and detailed visuals and the great sound and music. There is also an extensive amount of non-player character interaction. There are many missions where you get to command a squadron of Marines around, fight alongside them, tell the one dressed up in the Tank suit to go to the rear and tell the one with the Shotgun to head up front. You can set up perimeters to defend locations with force barriers, and there is a lot of tactical stuff that gave this game such a nice touch. Oh yeah, the weapons are balanced and way cool, too.

Now, let's not forget the most important part: the content of the story. You and your crew are comprised of Marine Corps rejects - TCA Marshall John Dalton, your character, is a compassionate space cop who regularly disobeys the rules in the name of his own moral convictions, and consequently, has been put out of the Marine Corps for good. you patrol deep space enforcing the law and making sure that the power-hungry multi-planetary corporations aren't up to no good. This is a higly prophetic vision of the future, where big business extends its black arms into the deep regions of the universe where no watching eye can abate its quest for power. But the final betrayal to humanity comes from inside the government itself - it turns out that the power offered by the various alien Artifacts in the game is too much for even the government men to resist.

I've been playing PC games since the late 80's, and it is rare indeed that a game like this comes along - This is one of those games that everyone must have.

The best game ever!

I don't know what to tell all these people complaining about molasses game play. This game was built with the intentions of sucking the juice right out of a hardcore gamer's top-of-the-line machine, and give people a decent reason to buy a machien like that, other than just impressing yourself over how fast windows loads up. This game is NOT for grandma' machines, and the producers did that on purpose. Taking a step forward, they are. Yes, the game is COSTLY on computer resources, but that's what makes it GREAT if you have them.

After MUCH hoarding of money, I now have a Radeon 9700 PRO, 512 MB RAM, 2.0 GHz processor, 107 GB hard-drive. The game runs smoothly (not surprising) but best of all it has graphics that are UNGODLY and utilize all of that pent-up power for once!

Everyone realises the new Doom will have the same requirements, if not higher, right? Technology is getting better... as games are taking advantage of that, you've got to get off your grandma's machine to use them, unfortunately.

Excellent game, with superior graphics

The free downloadable multiplayer portion of this game called XMP is worth twice as much as what they are asking. It's highly addictive and great fun. I haven't even bothered witht he single player yet. If you like mulitplayer this is a must have.
