Awesome action game

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 9 / 10

This one awesome game. In my opinion, the best Robotech game there is. Being a huge Robotech fan, I expected a lot from this game and it delievered. It is so cool to be able to fight the Invid using the cyclone armor. Fans of Robotech will instantly recognize the story and several locations and characters. But even if you've never heard of Robotech, this is still a (...). Its a blast to charge into an area on your cyclone, firing rockets, switching to battle armor mode and then using your gallant rifle to finish off the stragglers. I have yet to try the online play via Xbox live, but if its anything like the single player, it is excellent. If you're a robotech fan, an action adventure/shooter game fan, or someone who likes try something different, this game is definately worth your time.

Great fun, bad camera

I grew up with Robotech. I loved the series as a kid and the episodes with the cyclones were especially favored.
I picked up this game because of this childhood love for the Robotech story.
In all, what a great game. I find it to be an absolute blast, with an almost classic arcade feel. I appreciate the animation and the controls are smooth and easy making game play very accessible.
In many ways this game is very similar to the many, many first person shooters available, which I could give or take. There are elements in the game I enjoy though, the main one being the ability to change from third to first person while in armor mode is great. Also while you are in armor mode you are able to "spin" the camera a full 360 degrees, which is very helpful during the course of the various missions.
However, while you are in cycle mode you are stuck looking forward, with no ability to "spin" the camera at all. So you can not see what is behind you or to the extreme right or left of you. Which on one hand makes cycle mode more challenging than the armor counterpart, but I find it to be more annoying than anything.
Over all, I am very pleased with this game aside from my camera complaint. It is, ultimately a lot of fun.
So, if you grew up loving Robotech, in particular the Cyclones and their part of the story arc, this is a worthy game to pick up and play.
