SAVE YOUR MONEY! THEY DESTROYED A GOOD GAME!

OMG, if you haven't bought it yet, save yourself. Go rent it at least. I played it for 5 minutes and here are my complaints...

1.You have to play as your gamertag.
2.When you look up and down the cursor moves left to right also.
3.The graphics look like an N64 game.
4.You can't choose any options as far as map rotation, weapons allowed in the game, etc, like you can on PC.
5.You have to push the white button to talk to people even if they are on your team.
6.The triangle shaped indicator on your radar (top right on screen) isn't defined well enough for you to actually tell where you're going. 7.They dumbed down the accuracy of the weapons from the PC version also.
8.Only 12 people at a time no matter what. On PC you can play with up to 60 with no lag issues and easily 30 times better graphics that look borderline real at some points.

This was one of the biggest videogame let downs of all time. They took an awesome game and butchered it and made the graphics look like a gameboy advance.

I have played PC and console games since the early 90's. SOF2 on PC is an awesome game. Great graphics, nice interface, the game physics are nice, the weapons are accurate, just all around great. The Xbox lacks any really good hardware so they have to dumb every PC port down. And they really butchered this one. Do yourself a favor and stick to your PC. Even Halo is due out for PC soon, with every aspect of it far superior to the xbox version.

The only reason I gave it one star is because it is in fact a video game, and I love video games, so the more the merrier, but this one serves no purpose other than to act as a coaster for my beverage while I play the PC version.....

Close but no cigar

Solier of Fortune II is a pretty good conversion of the PC game of the same title. But that wasn't such a great game to begin with. The XBOX version is more simplified in controls and the gameplay can be adjusted to have "Autoaim" which is basically cheating. Unfortunately I didn't have XBOX live, so I played it single player. It does have a random mission generator (RMG) which adds to the replayability of the game, but the RMG power is limited to changing the layout of the the map and locations of enemy soldiers. The enemy soldiers are terribly stupid. They shoot at you from a distance, hide behind corners, stand still when their friends get killed in front of them. And the enemies cheat. Even if you use the sniper rifle from long distance, they know exactly where you are.

Pros:
+easy controls
+great weapons sound fx
+random mission generator
+cool weapons
+bloody deaths and severed limbs
+tense and good action
+crisp graphics

Cons:
-no split screen play
-A.I. is dumb as a rock
-no stealth/silent weapons
-you can't customize controls
-tons of "Fog" and draw-in
-enemies always know where you are
-night vision goggles are junk, you can't see anything.

If you love First Person Shooters and want to add this game to your collection, it's okay. Just remember that it has some cons that hinders gameplay.

A MAJOR LETDOWN FOR XBOX FANS

This is another PC ported game that is a complete miss. Like some PC ports that end up on the XBOX,they are better than the PC version but not with Soldier Of Fortune 2. This game looks bad graphically and plays terrible with lousy AI. There is no excuse the XBOX is far capilable of more and this is unexcusable game,I thought the PC verison Soldier Of Fortune 2 was bad but this port is worse. However the ported game does get rid of the annoying fog issue like the stupid PC title,so that is one positive. BOTTOM LINE:NOT EVEN WORTH A RENTAL,BUT AS FAR AS BUYING SAVE UP FOR QUALITY GAMES[HALO,DOA3,NINJA GAIDEN,SOUL CALIBUR 2,HALO 2(MID 2004),DOA 4(TBA)]

Double Failure

This game is an absolute insult to the gaming capabilities of the xbox.

Graphics - on par with a second grade PS One game.

Ambience - Repetitive sounds and lack of sound control (crouching produces as much foot-noise as walking) destroy any hopes of creating any element of suspense.

AI - rather read as AS for Artificial Stupidity.

Controls - they work well (hence the single star).

Overall, I recommend that if you are looking for a FPS, save your money and wait for the releases of Ghost Recon (Island Thunder) or Medal of Honor (Rising Sun).

Absolutely Horrible

First off, let me say I ONLY play first-person shooters. Suffice to say, I have an experience base for this review.

The game play is absolutely horrible: There is no such thing as sniping in this game (yes, I know there are sniper weapons). Even when you do get off a clear shot, any obstruction within a few feet will block the bullets trajectory.

The graphics are horrible: I rank this up there with Super Nintendo in terms of realism and pixelation. Most absurd is that you can be literally standing on top of an enemy and not even know it.

Other things to consider, especially if you enjoy the fluidity of games like Halo: Your player is slow, the enemy is fast. Your weapons are unexciting, aiming is impossible, so you are relegated to the good 'ole fashioned bumb rush attack. Loading and saving are annoyingly slow.

I recommend you skip this and save your money for Halo when it comes out next year. Sorry Activision, try again.

You have got to be kidding!

This game is a major dissapointment. While the concepts is interesting, the graphics are terrible and gameplay is lousy at best.

I just got this game and I have to say I'm having a blast with it, although i was a little disapointed in the graphics. The game is sweet, the damage taken by enimies is SICK!! If hit in the head, a chunk of flesh is blown off, leaving a bloody mangled face, AWSOME!! I just wish the graphics could have been a little better, but this should hold me over untill Deus ex 2 hits. So if your into fps, totally pick this one up

GOOD GAME

Everyone says this game isnt as good as ghost recon so i dont like it. Well its not as good but its fun you can waste a few afternoons with this fun game. the graphics well...suck. But besides that its a fun game it costs just as much as Ghost Recon either one is fun and a good choice Soldier of Fortune may be a little harder though. The weapons are good with the Micro Uzi its practilly impossible for the bad guys to kill ya, whatever you do if you get around a whole bunch of guys dont use the shotgun. The missions in Hong Kong are fun, Columbia missions are also fun but the missions in Texas are just plain boring. The rain effects are terrible and some missions its pouring and you can barely see. The plus of this game is the Random Mission Generator you can create any mission you want Day or Night where you you want it EX a jungle or a icy wasteland ect. Buy its only 20 bucks y notttt.

Call it a 2.5

This is a long playing shooter with very poor graphics and average sound. If you like shooters you might like this and it might be worth it for 20 bucks, but if you haven't played ghost recon, halo, etc use the money on them and see what the xbox can do. This game might be alright for playstation II users but it doesn't really make the cut on xbox.

So many better choices than this one

There seems to be a wide range of reviews of this game, but I'm not sure why some people think this is such a great game. I'm a big fan of the first person genre and having said that, Soldier of Fortune 2 is just mediocre. The graphics are below average.. they aren't terrible but compared to the games being currently released they just look choppy and ill-defined. The sounds are not great either. The controls are just awful...every time you move when getting shot you're clicking on the crouch accidentally or toggling your night vision goggles which just sucks.

Yes, you do have unlimited saves anywhere in the game, but the load times are awful, forcing you to wait and wait each time you die and have to reload.

I will say that the range of missions are good and it has some neat places to go. Manning the machine gun on the chopper in the first mission is a blast. However, the storyline is so completely unforgettable and many times throughout the game you're forced to "play" through storyline sections with no action. At least a movie you can skip and get on with it.

This may be worth a rental, but I wouldn't recommend buying it.
