So you can deal damage to more specific body parts, thats about all this game has going for it. Even then its rediculous and so far from reality. Your telling me you can consistantly cleave legs off at the hip with a couple 9mm bullets? The "Military Advisor" they claim worked on this game with them must have been asleep. I'd say this game is one step above Turok. Its very, very shallow. I loved Red Faction 1&2...this is no Red Faction.

If you can love a game soley for its unrealistic, constant gore this is a good title for you at 20$.

This review is of the PC Gold edition on a 1GHz computer running Windows 2000 with a Mad Dog GeForce4 video card and 256M RAM.

The game runs well on this rig and only had a few minor issues. No hangs or crashes, no noticable video or audio problems.

There are several design issues that spoil an otherwise decent game. The most annoying is that you only get five chances to save the game in any segment. In some of the extremely difficult segments, this was not enough. I've not seen a game that limited the number of saves since the earliest years of PC gaming and I can't see why Activision would chose to do this.

Another annoying feature was the incredibly inaccurate weapons. When you're looking round a corner and your sights are clearly on the bad guy, you should hit the bad guy when you pull the trigger, not the corner. What made this even more annoying is that the baddies seem to have ESP. They seem to see you through smoke and boxes making some sections very frustrating.

The gameplay is uneven with certain sections, such as the Swiss airport, being extremely difficult and noticably lacking in health packs. I played this on difficulty level 2 out of 5 and had to use GOD mode several times near the end. Now that I've finished it, I think it'll be a long time before I bother playing it again.

Also, I could never figure out why I couldn't pick up certain weapons like the sniper rifle unless I dropped another weapon, but at other times, I could carry both weapons together. If there was any logic to it, I couldn't find it.

OK, enough whining, let's get to the good stuff.

The graphics are excellent and the enemy IQ is above average. When you shoot heads blow up, arms and legs fly off, and bodies collapse very convincingly. The sound effects are good too, and the voice actors did a wonderful job. However, if you spot the enemy from far enough away, you can snipe them and their buddies will act as if nothing happened.

The story is well constructed, with you playing the part of a mercenary out to save the world and earn money at the same time. The bad guys and good guys actually have personalities that make me think the script was written by a professional. The scenarios are unusual and immersive with the graphics created good ambience. I enjoyed Kamchatka particularly.

Overall though, the restricted saves and other annoying features bring this game down from a 4 to a 3 star rating.

Soldier Of Fortune II seems to have it all. If you liked Return to Castle Wolfenstein then this game is for you. Activision did a great job in bringing this game to the XBOX. Graphics and playability are all there. To top everything off you can go live as well!

A sorry excuse for a game

Let me start off by saying what everyone else is generally saying about this game: the graphics [are bad]. The graphics are about as good as the old playstation 1. The characters and environments look blocky and lack any detail. The graphics are so bad they even make the game difficult - it's hard to tell which direction you're going because everything starts to look the same.

The gameplay is mediocre. Running seems slow and awkward, rather than speedy and fluid. The gunfire is interesting - the weapons really kick, so aiming is more realistic. Otherwise SOF plays just about like any other first person shooter.

This game is touted for its "realistic" weapons damage. Hitting different parts of enemies' bodies results in different body parts being blown off. Call me crazy, but I don't think sadistic violence can make up for a poorly designed and executed game. At any rate, you have to be really close to even notice, so it's not a big deal. Overall, this game is so bad, I regret spending the five bucks just to rent it!

I've played the demo.I was blown away!But it took me a while 2
get the controls(it took me about the 2nd day).but trust me this
is a good FPS.if u do buy this game(u should!)buy it at Best Buy
now its on sale this.This game has 50 levels!this could be another game 2 play while waiting for Halo2.

If you liked Half Life, Doom, Halo or Wolfenstein, you'll love this game. Just like all the others I mentioned, the game play is pretty much the same. The controls are pretty straightforward and the graphics are nice. The only downside is that you can't control the brightness which can be a problem at times, especially if you play during the day. During your different missions, you acquire various weapons to help you on your journey. This is a really great game and one to add to your collection.

i've only played it once, and its a great game! i'm already thinking of buying it right now! GRRRREAT GAME. dumb AI makes it more fun to fool around with them. Shotgun is amazing! knife is amazing! blood is great!

This game rocked. I entiered the cheat codes and saw all the wepons. I was stuned. I cept using the double desret eagel my faviort hand gun. I liked the fact that I could toss a grenade in a full room and see limbs flying out. The levels are cool and diffclut but fun to play. I don't care what other people thing this game rocks

Its an awsome game very realistic pure fun shooter if you like red faction 1 and 2 you'll love this game BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!
