I Bought this game after a dissapointing and rip off expierience from buying Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Gold, (RCT3 still won't work on my powerful DEll XPS Dimension desktop with My Nvidia GeForce 2 9.0 Graphics Card) which is a pretty powerful Graphics card. So I went out and bought Zoo Tycoon 2 which was made by microsoft, so it works very well with Windows XP. THis game is very fun and lifelike. You can Go into to guest mode and clean up after the animals, guests, and go up very close to your animals. You can play Campaign mode , challeng mode, and free play mode. In freeroam mode, you can play zoo tycoon 2 without worying about mony because you get unlimited everything. It is a great way to practice. The 3D is very good in this game, you can zoo in around and almost everywhere. The expansion packs are the reason why there are limited animal choices, so in order to get an average group of zoo animals, you have to buy the expansiom packs, but the basic game comes with many choices of animals and buildings. all in all, choose this over Roller Coaster tycoon 3: wild , Simsafari, or any other game that tried to rip off Zoo Tycoon.

This is an awesome game! I'm the sort of person who doesn't like computer games much but I LOVE this one. It's very fun and rewarding to raise happy animals, and there is so much to do, which makes it very realistic; you have all the responsibilities of a real zoo, from your animals' to guests' happiness and satisfaction. It's so much fun adopting and taking care of animals. It takes a little while to get used to, but not too long, and once you do, you'll be hooked! If you like animals, then you MUST get this game.

Beware of the systems requirement. They are not entirely accurate. After much time spent with Microsoft Customer Service, I was very disappointed to hear that my three-year-old Toshiba laptop would have to be updated with some kind of video card in order to play this game. We haven't had a problem with any other computer games (Sims2 plays fine, for example)....

I bought this for my 11 year old daughter, and since we reveived it, she has spent hours building, managing and maintaining zoos in various environments: alpine, boreal, tropical, sub desert....it really is incredible. It enables her to play in "freeform," where she is given an unlimited amount of money to spend of developing a zoo, as well as play in challenge games, where the funds are limited and challenges are given to open up more opportunities. The graphics are very real, and given the open expanse of whatever environment she chooses, she is able to contour the land; to include water, trees, natural shelters according to what animals she chooses to place there. There is also an encyclopedia that enables her to read about the various animals, their habitats, the food they eat, etc, and build accordingly.
This is a fantastic learing experience for children as well as adults.

This game is alot better than the first one!

After I bought Zoo Tycoon 2 Double Edition I became addicted to it, it has better graphics than the first one and a great expasion pack, Endangered Species. It has alot more animals, like Koalas, Red Pandas and , Florida Panthers. So if you do buy Zoo Tycoon 2 BUY ENDANGERED SPECIES!

I was so looking forward to this game being released only to find it is compatible to very few OS. You must have 256 RAM FREE-not just a 256 card. Worse yet it will not play on many graphics cards due to directx9 incompatibility, and we are talking new updated graphics cards too! Go to the zoo tycoon site and read the incompatibility issues before purchasing and save yourself headaches and despair.

My kids were looking forward to playing this game on their two- week old hp pavillion computer. Unfortunately Zoo Tycoon 2 is incompatible with their new 3D video card along with a bunch of other video cards. You have to read the Zoo Tycoon 2 website to figure out which few cards are supported. The fact that their computer has DirectX9 didn't help their video card to work. What a disapointment!

Fun and Addicting game for kids and adults!

I got this game for Christmas, and I never really played it because it took a long time to load and it slowed down every once and a while. But I tried playing it again last week, and now I can't stop playing it. It's really fun to create exibits, and the new guest mode feature is really cool because you can actually walk through your zoo as if you are a guest, and then open the gates of your exibits and care for your animals as if you are a zookeeper! I also like how much information it gives you about your animals and your guests, which makes it easier to tell what your guests and animals want, so you can make a better zoo and please everyone. The only downsides are that when you have a lot of exibits and your zoo becomes more complex, the game is slower and harder to control, which gets frustrating. Also, there are only 30 animals to choose from. There should be a lot more. But overall, it is a very fun and addicting game, and it's worth buying. But just a warning, I've played this game for 4 hours strait before-I'm not kidding, this game is VERY addicting!

I have zoo tycoon 2 and endangerd species, & marine mania expansion packs and let me tell you it is a great game. I have made a ton of zoos and along with the expansion packs, I try to make them them a five star zoo. Along the way to making the zoo I can name my animas. I also make jeep rides and actully ride in them!(You can only make them with endangered species pack only though) I don't play with Zoo tycoon 2 much though because my brothers are always playing with it!!! Put this game on your early Christmas list!

This game rocks! It is a great game for the family with a lot of strategy involved. This game has good graphics and game play. Although I was a little disappointed about it not having the same animals and building that the original ZT had it made up for it for adding new kinds of building, terrain features, and animals. It also is alot easier to play than the original for the game system is alot smarter. Another thing that made me happy was that it didn't cost any money to add different terrain or build hills and cliffs. This game is a little slow at the beginning but once you continue to play it becomes more fun and challenging. One thing i love about this game is that the Freeform mode is more of a "sand box" than the original one letting you have unlimited money. So overall this is a great game for family and just to have fun.
