Great Action RPG

Like you have probably read here and on other sites... the initial release of Dungeon Lords was a joke. It was released in what can only be described as an early beta version. Features, spell, locations, and just about anything else you can think of were left out in an effort to release the game as soon as possible.

Now they have released the "Collector's Edition". A better name for this edition of the game would be the "Complete Edition", as that's what it really is.

The most important thing to keep in mind when purchasing Dungeon Lords is that you absolutely must NOT purchase the regular version of the game. They have patched it up to version 1.4, but it is still very incomplete.

But I completely recommend purchasing this, the Collector's Edition. Basically everything that the developer promised for the original game is in here... and it's a blast.

The game has a great character development system, allowing you to create a character that suits your playing style. This is done as you level up and choose new skills, and classes. It's really well done.

The action is great, with lots of monsters, fun battles, and good quests. This is the kind of game that you can sit down and play for a half-hour and have fun, or sit and play for 8 hours and have fun.

So, once again... if you're going to purchase Dungeon Lords make sure you get this version and not the original.

Yes, Dungeon Lords as initally released needed a few patches. Most games that are released need a few patches. However, even without a a single patch I found Dungeon Lords to be a graphically pleasing and fun game to play. With the 1.4 patch the game has become all that it was intened to be. If you bought the game when it was first released, patch it to 1.4. If you didn't buy the first release of the game buy the collector's edition. The graphics are awesome and the game play is fast. If you need to laboriously plot every move you make, then Dungeon Lords is not for you. There are a ton of gameplay and graphics options that you can tweak. The gameplay screen has been enhanced to show a compass and a dynamic map of your location. Lots of monsters, quests, and treasure chests. Please, stop bashing the game because of a poor inital release and start enjoying the game as it was intended to be. The collecter's tin is VERY nice too. I wish more games would be released in something so nice.

Still A Piece Of Crap

The original Dungeon Lords was released a year before it was ready. Now you get DL-Collector's Edition, and I (the dummy that I am) decided to try it again.

The game does NOT run on any laptop/notebook computers. It does not run on a third or more of desktop systems. Instead it will flash for two seconds and then go back to Windows without a word. The reason - they only support a very small subset of video cards, and no notebook cards at all. And you have to dig through the Dreamcatcher web site to figure this out, it's nowhere in the documentation or readme.

So maybe they've improved it, but now it doesn't work anyway. And once again it goes back - at least I only wasted a few minutes on it this time. DON'T BUY THIS GAME UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

Please boycott this...

Dreamweaver's handling of this whole mess was seriously screwed up. They release a product that is an insult to the gaming community. Then they have the nerve to add some more stuff and release a 'collector's edition'. I'm not a collector I'm a consumer. I was robbed by their first product which is more like an undergrad programmer's final project (on which he got a 'D').

Don't buy this game and have nothing to do with this product line. Seriously reconsider before buying any of Dreamweaver's future products.

They didn't drop the ball on this one, they threw it in our faces trying to give us bloody noses.

Absolutely Criminal

Dreamcatcher and Bradley seriously lack any shade of integrity to release this "Collector's Edition" as a only-in-retail-box condition. Any casual observer could tell that to not provide this content as a patch is a slap in the face of the consumer. That said, reviews still show that even the improvements they've made in this "1.5 verision" are buggy and unpredictable.

As someone who pre-purchsed the original Dungeon Lords, I was already burned by this company once, and will NOT do it again. Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me.

Why should I be expected to pay ANOTHER $40 for *gasp* --- furniture in the cities! This game will likely go down in history as the most infamous sham on game players worldwide. Please, please, refrain from buying this title. It COULD have been good, but, alas, it is not.

Collectors Edition ?

... add a bit more content and charge $40 ????
I didn't see an expansion pack.
I didn't see a DL2.
Talk about arrogance !
For goodwill purposes to those of us who purchased DL(.. I bought it twice), you would think the extra content would have been included in DL.
Don't buy this game = it just reinforces the notion that game companies can put out garbage and still make money
We buyers have to draw the line somewhere.
Buy DL, patch it to 1.4 with the whopping 139mb patch ... heck, buy it used; teach them a lesson ... especially after this arrogant decision

Dungeon Lords Collector's Edition is a waste of money. You will not enjoy it. You will feel robbed and you will be angry enough to write warnings such as this. Please, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME!

Monkey developers, terrible game? What explains this?

How could this game be release yet again with so many bugs? Has anyone from Dreamcatcher actually played it? Something is wrong here... I waited until they could fix it (i.e. Collectors edition), hoping for the decent RPG it could of been, and this is their best? Someone has to lose a job here, because this is a complete failure. The physics are off, the game crashes, and locks up! The sound effects are terrible, the game play is clumsy. Don't buy this game, no matter what edition. Punish them please, avoid future titles, they must never attempt this again. Note to Heuristic Park/Developers: find another career. To everyone else: this is not worth your money. God awful trash.

this game is a whole lot better. the first dungeon lords was way screwed up. i mean , REALLY screwed up. like, in the great tower, i was at the top and the elevator has a bug so i had to reset my file and there were many more bugs also. but this game isent any different exept for they fixed most of the bugs and most of the levels are fixed. like, in #1, there would be huge hotels and yet there was not one piece of furniture in it and there would be fireplaces to change time and yet there was no fire in it.DO NOT GO OUT AND BUY #1! this game is the same exept they added more levels and fixed every thing that they were supposed to do in the original dungeon lords. definatly recomended.

Play patched original version -- why pay for the CE?

I got the original a year ago. I played it when patch 1.4 came out. It was a lot of fun. But based on the descriptions of the CE at various forums, there's NO REASON TO BUY THE CE. The additions are few treasure chests and some small quest enhancements. Save money and buy the original, then go get the patch on the Game Banshee website.
