Awesome Game!

This game is just fun and as close to real hunting as any game has come soo far. It does require a little patience just like real hunting but the payoff when you finish the hunt gives you gratitude and accomplishment. The graphics are descent and respectable 8.5/10. The sounds of the game are wonderful and very realistic probably its best attribute 10/10. The gameplay may seem a little slow to very impatient people but this is a very very fun game mixed with using strategy, patience, stalking, and the action of the chase and kill. The deer act just like they do in real life so the AI is good. funfactor 9/10. You get to drive boats, atvs, snowmobiles you get to hunt in plenty of different locations for all diferent types of North American deer(whitetail, blacktail, mule, axis) In my opinion this is easily the best hunting game out on any console I have tried them all. For those who want to hear about the cons of the game there are a few but not many and they dont alter your fun with the game that much. Some of the problems ae not being able to take much equipment with you in your backpack for a hunt, not being able to ride your vehicle very far before having to go on foot, and sometimes having deer get spooked out and running a little prematurely when you are quite a great distance away.

But thats it and the positives and fun of this game far outweigh the negatives. Its way better and more realistic than cabela's big game hunter 2005 and the price is the same at $30. So if ya wanna give it a chance, buy or rent it and enjoy!

The wonderous scenery and sounds of nature give the game a realistic effect. However I find the game controls to be poorly programmed and frustrating at times. The game allows you to carry with you a few items that you may need for the hunt. They should have designed the controls where you could toggle through your belongings to find the proper piece of equipment you want to use without having to press a long series of buttons to find it and return to your gun site.

Here's an example of the awkward game play:

Say for instance I'm bow hunting and want to look through my binaculars. It requires me to press a button, then toggle through until it is highlighted, then pull the trigger button to bring it to my face. Then press the trigger to remove it from my face. Then press a button to then be able to toggle through my belongings again to find my bow. Then press a button to raise the bow. Then pull the left trigger to pull back the bow only to find the buck walking right next to you but then you don't have the ability to quickly turn and shoot. By the time you turn around, the deer is long gone.

Another faulty game control issue is that I cannot reprogram the up and down to work the way I want. It when I pull the thumb button back, I think the person should look upwards. Instead it is the opposite. I had to retrain my mind to fit the game. Most games allow you to change these options.

Activision should take some cues from games like Halo or Ghost Recon on how to develop their controls.

Choosing my gun and packing my equipment is confusing and not logical. Often I spend 5 minutes packing what I think is needed only to find out that I have to go back and repack because certain States have different requirements. They should provide you with these requirements before you spend so much time packing.

At times I find the bullet camera a bit annoying.
For instance if I shoot an arrow towards a far off mountain, the arrow travels miles and miles. I must admit I enjoy the arial view of the scenery. But not very realistic...

Anyhow, this game is not the best video game out there.
But it appears to be the best HUNTING game available.

I just hope they make some improvements where needed for the future editions.

I'd also like to see them come out with a turkey hunt and bird hunting game to help satisfy my hunting jones...

If Activision was smart they would also find sponsors to sign with them. Allow me to virtualize the various manufacturers like Benelli, Berretta, Winchester, Remmington, Browning, Mossberg, and all the others.

Deer Hunt 2005 season is so cool because you get so many weapons. You can get shotguns, rifles, and snipers. Also you can drive cars, forwheelers, and snowmobiles. The graphics are amazing and is exactly like a real deer hunt. Buy this game.
