The best DDR game ever!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 0 / 0
Date: July 02, 2007

When I got this game, I was so excited playing it! It has many great songs and is much like the PS2 DDR games. The song wheel on there is basically a recoloring of the DDRMAX song wheel on the PS2. This revolutionized the DDR nation by playing online, downloadable song packs, and more.

Anyway, the songs on here are good, but most of the unlockable songs are great to play. The sound is good, and so are the graphics. The edit mode lets you customize the steps to a certain song. Also, you can do Challenge mode to do challenges on a certain song. This is the one of the two versions of DDR Ultramix (Along with Ultramix 2) to be unlocked through play. All the others (UM 3 & 4) unlock the song through Quest Mode.

The Review

Gameplay 9/10
Graphics 8/10
Sound 10/10

Overall 9/10

My mom bought this game for me awhile ago and I was really excited about it. I had been playing on my friend's DDR game for awhile and I really liked hers. So this game was fun, but it was nothing compared to my friend's. You have to earn your new songs and the songs get old after a long time. It's cool when you get a new song, but otherwise this game isn't anything special.

it a good game but...

It's good but it doesn't have a beginner mode. Intermediate is way to fast for a beginner.

I bought this game for my daughter for her 13th birthday. The minute she opened it, she and five of her friends put it together immediately. This was the easiest birthday party I have ever hosted! They LOVED it! My daughter plays with it so often that she has 'aced' many of the songs at the beginner level and is now tackling some of the more difficult arrangements. But, not only does she enjoy this game, my 10 year old son, his friends, my husband, and even I use it often. This game is not only fun and challenging, but best of all, GREAT EXERCISE! We LOVE it!

This is the first DDR game released for the Xbox. Good game. Gots good songs on it, good style with it. For 19.99, thats a killer price for this game. I got it for 39.99 :-( . But yea this games definately a good DDR game. You can unlock new songs and features the more you play and the better you get at it. I recommend this game to new players and expirienced ones.

5 stars?

why are there so many 5 star ratings for this game? come on people lets give some honest and unbiased reviews about this game because other people besides ddr fanatics will be reading these reviews. this game is 3 stars for fun because the first 2 times you play the game its fun to make fun of such a ridiculous game. do not buy this unless you are one of the above ddr fanatics. gets boring in less than 30 minutes of playing unless you are drinking, and in that case you have better things to do then play ddr, and there is no replay value whatsoever. unless you are incredibly gifted the steps and the beats are way too hard to get down anyways. do not buy this for your own good.

This is a good game! All the songs are good, but they needed more faster one. It seemed like it was for noobies most likely. Ultramix 2 had all the faster games. But this game is DEF worth 20.00 bucks no doubt

If you already got a pad, and an xbox. Buy this, you wont be dissapointed!!

We started with Ultra Mix 2 and were really quite disappointed in the sound quality of Ultra Mix.

The game I purchased, DDR Ultramax, has been an excellent purchase. The used game arrived in great condition and works perfectly.

This version was my introduction to DDR.

I will not compare to any playstation or arcade version of DDR, since I do not play or own any of those. I bought this because I love to dance.

I think that the rhythms and beats are very catchy and the steps are designed well with the music. I even enjoy the cheesy (but catchy) lyrics in many of the songs (can anybody tell me why we build Castles in the Sky?) The songs seem to be representative of popular music genres and the given artists are clever imposters. It is amusing to try and guess at what popular song or artist each song is trying to imitate. (For example they have an artist named "Thuggie D" that sound suspiciously similar to "Heavy D") I downloaded new songs from XBox live and I am pleased with those. I was able to use those downloaded songs in the next version of DDR for Xbox which I recently bought.

I enjoy the variety of styles from hip-hop, latin, disco, R&B, jazz, world beats, sugary up-beat Japanese techno. etc. There is enough of a selection that I don't really get bored repeating the songs.

I will say that I don't like some of the really darker monotonous techno beats, like Paul Oakenfeld. Sadly Oakenfeld is a "real" artist on the playlist and his songs are some of the least entertaining in the game.

I have been able to master many of the songs up to level 3, but it was challenging to get there, and after a year of playing this game, there still remain a few songs that continue to elude me.
