Final Fantasy Tactics is a really fun game. You can get really cool jobs such as a Ninja,Oracle,or a Knight. My favorite job is
the Mediator because you can ask random fighters to join your team! This game is way better than FFTA.On this game you don't have any STUPID judges to give you yellow or red cards. And you
can't go to jail! But the only bad thing about this game is that
your units can die.So you really want to be careful. On top of that everything else is really good like the music it really goes
with the game! And what's really cool is that you can get Cloud on your team! Here's how [Note you must be on chapter four for this to work].And have Mustadio in your party too.Ok First go to
the bar in Zeltennia Castle located in the Northeast part of the
map. Then listen to the rumor of the cursed island,Nelveska. When
you go back to the World Map,you should see a path extended to the island to the North. You won't be able to enter it yet.Go to
Trade City Zarghidos and buy a flower from Aeris.Next go to Goug
Machine City with Mustadio in your party. He and Basrodio should
discover a ball-shaped machine. Then go to the bar in Goland Coal
City and listen to the Ghost of Colliery rumor. There should be a
reward posted. After that go to Lesalia Imperial Capital. When you
talk with Beowulf, choose the second answer and he should join your party along with his Holy Dragon.Go to Goland Coal City,
which should now be an orange dot,and there will be three battles
you'll have to face in the underground floors of Colliery. Now,
when the fourth battle begins, you will need to protect the Holy
Dragon. At the end of the battle,Band will join your party and you
will recieve the Zodiac Stone from Beowulf.Go back to Goug. When
you enter the town,Basrodio and Mustadio will turn into a robot
and join yor party.Go to the Nelvaska Temple. You'll fight a robot
and you'll get another Zodiac Stone and the Holy Dragon will
transform into the Dragoneer.Go to Goug again and the strange
machine should be working now with the Zodiac Stone.Cloud will
appear and he'll take off for now.Fight your brother Dycedarg and
the monster he transforms into, Adramelk.Go back to Zarghidas
Trade City.Your goal will be to protect Cloud who is unarmed.
Cloud will join your party after the victory.Go to the active
volcano at Bervenia and keep Walking back and fourth until you
get into battle. In this battle, have someone with the Move: Item
Find skill.Have the person climb the highest rock tower in the
battlefield.Must possess a level 3 jump or higher. You will recieve the Materia Blade that will allow Cloud to use his Limit
Breaks from FF7.That's it have fun!

This is quite possibly the best video game ever conceived. You have to keep an open mind of course in terms of the graphics, but that shouldn't matter if you really like a good video game with a great story line and excellent fighting/fun. If you have a Playstation 1 or 2 I suggest you buy this game immediately, you would be surprised at how much fun it is.

Best PS1 Game Ever

Quite simply, this is the best game on the original Playstation. Although, it appeals more to fans of Shining Force & Tactics Ogre moreso than fans of Final Fantasy.

I think that this game needs an official sequel.

The classes that you can use are (excluding "special" classes such as Engineer or Holy Knight [one of my favorites]) Squire, Chemist, Knight, Archer, Priest, Wizard, Summoner, Ninja, Geomancer, Mediator, Mime, Calculator, Dancer, Samurai, Bard, Time Mage and Monk. If I didn't get them all, feel free to add! Remember, I only listed the MAIN classes, not the special ones.

The gameplay is a very strong point in the game. You fight monsters, humans or a mixture of both on a field of squares that you move from one to the next. It's somewhat time consuming going through the menus to battle, but really, if you're into strategy RPGs, you're used to this. I will mention one thing: I've found myself falling asleep to this game because the battles were slow. Not that this should detract you from buying this excellent game.

The story is seriously the strongest point in the game. You are in a huge place called Ivalice and you travel from town to town occasional going to waterfalls or swamps and what not. Ramza is the main character and he experiences betrayal, meeting new friends and fighting for what's right.

The sound isn't bad. The main music in battles against monsters (which can happen in between towns on the map) is OK, but you might get sick of it after a while. But some of it is pretty good. Not great, but good. Just don't expect it to blow you away.

I think I've touched on the main points. Once again, if I'm missing a class, feel free to tell me.

8.5/10= 4 stars and then some

This is a very good strategic RPG. I am not a very avid video game player, but I do consider myself an experienced gamer, having played a variety of very good games, with all different categories, and I think I'm a good enough gamer to give an accurate review and opinion. This game is very good, with a lot of skill and strategy involved. It might not have very good graphics, but if you like the classic tactical RPG, with the world map and encounters/engagements (not walk around and press x to shoot), then this is a very enjoyable game for you. Also, GET FF TACTICS ADVANCE FOR GBA!!! IT'S A GODSEND!!!! SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOD!!! Also, please do not look at my review for kingdom hearts II (also a great game).

More Frustrating Than Fun

I have been an avid video RPGer ever since the original Dragon Warrior was introduced to the U.S. on the 8-bit NES. Since then I have purchased and played just about every video RPG game (traditional, strategical, action-adventure) to make it's way onto the 16-bit, PS1, and now PS2. That's ALOT of games. Each game has it's pros & cons. Strategical games such as FF Tactics are usually very dificult and take a tremendous amount of time and effort to complete. One of the most popular strategical games to be introduced to a video game platform was Ogre Battle (16-bit NES). Like FF Tactics, the battles tended to be long and difficult to complete. But the hardest part of that game was trying to balance out your status with the public. If you won too many battles, then the public feared you, and you would thus lose their faith. If you lost too many battles, the public would not respect you, thus you would lose their faith. I eventually made my way towards completing this game, and I never thought that I would ever encounter a more tediously difficult game again. Well I was wrong! This one takes the cake, folks. It's a fantastic concept, with a very nice story, acceptable graphics (taking into account the time in which it was introduced), and can be enjoyable at times. But just because my squad leader may be at level 31 does not mean that every other character in my squad is at that level as well. Only in the 2nd chapter, I would walk into battles with some VERY prepared characters ranging in levels from 16-28. But because my main character had a level of 31, all of my enemies would be at level 31 and higher. Let's just say that I have done my fair share of soft resets. Sometimes it could take me as long as one hour to complete one fight (after reseting 2-4 times during that span)! Long story short, this was the VERY FIRST game that I gave up on in all the years that I have been playing video RPGs. I figure that a game should be fun and enjoyable. There have been many games that have ticked me off, forcing me to throw profane words at the TV screen. But overall, I have enjoyed playing each and every single one of them. That is until I played FF Tactics. Bottom line: the creators of this game were smokin' some serious stuff when they put this one together!

I never did get to far playing this game. I just don't get the hang of it. So I quit this game soon after I started. I like a game I can get somewhere with. I guess I didn't understand what it was all about when I bought it. Somebody else might do alright with it, but not me.

Overhyped.

Few things (except maybe the movie Titanic) more define the term "overhyped" than Final Fantasy Tactics. Don't get me wrong, it'd an okay game. I'd take it over most games anyday. However, since it's an RPG that didn't get millions poured into advertising like the numbered Final Fantasies, it's left in a category with few competitors. Most of which I'm sad to say, blow FFT anyway. Lunar: Silver Star Story, Lunar: Eternal Blue, Xenogears, ect. run circles around it while walking on their heads. All 3 I mentioned above deserve 6 stars on a scale of 1 to 5, so definitely try them if you ever get the chance. One of FFT's biggest enemies is the fact that many long-term RPG fans make it out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's not. It IS better than a few of the named FFs (8 rings a bell... God that was awful..) but it's hardly as good as they make it out to be. It's greatest pro is that it requires more thinking than most games. It's fairly difficult at times, but it's a challenge for the brain not the thumbs. On the other side of the coin, I cannot describe to you how annoying it is to work up a character so that've mastered many classes only to have to choose between them and a storyline character that gets special commands but doesn't have the mastered classes in your party. This often leads to hours of horrible repetitiveness trying to re-master the classes on your new character. Furthermore, near the end of the game you get a storyline character that destroys any semblence of challenge in the game. He comes with the Excalibur, a powerful sword that gives constant haste to its wielder, and the spell 'Night Sword' that drains a large amount of HP from the enemy to you with NO wait and NO mp cost. It also has some somewhat disturbing relgious messages in it. Squaresoft makes no attempt to hide their apparent contempt for pretty much the entire Christian religion. I could go on further, but I'd be spoiling parts of the storyline. Just do yourself one favor; if you get this game, don't let the hype get you up thinking it's the greatest game ever made.
