a true masterpiece

A hero who receives no recognition of his good deeds branded as an anarchist and a blasphemer. The "Hero" who manipulates those in power and uses the man who fights for justice? sounds like a good movie... well it's Final Fantasy Tactics a masterpiece produced by Squaresoft. The game features 20 hours of mandatory gameplay(for those who have to beat the game in record time)but those of us who must conquer the game and all of it's secrets such as getting Cloud from FFVII you will play at least 60 hours in attaining all the secrets in this game. You can custmonize your characters with Job Classes leadin to an almost infinite of possiblilites of the classes of the hero or any other character. Most importantly the story/plot deserves the credit of a best selling novel. Enter Ramza the youngest son in the noble Beoulve family, who fights for justice, while his best friend Delita takes the glory for his deeds. The story is shrouded with political conspiracies to match those in Tom Clancy novel. This game also revolutionizes the stragey rpg for all you thinkers out there. This quite possibly is the greatest game in existience on the PS too bad a sequel has yet to be spawned of this game.

A first glimpse this at this game, and one might get pretentious and assume that because of the 2D effects, and the unorthodox Final Fantasy gameplay, that this game is a waste of time. But look again my friend and you will notice that this is an extremely challenging and most of all FUN game. The story is about a rebellion against the royal family. This story is hereafter referred to as "The Zodiac Brave Story". The story begins by telling you that there is a hero who rescued the princess from an untimely death and is a wonderful hero and person by far, Delita. When in truth the legend is incorrect and the person behind all of the "heroship" is truly Ramza Beoulve(the character you play). The game plays out the story of this intriguing and interesting legend. Gameplay is set on a battlefield and is played much like chess. There are different job classes and different abilities learned by each job class. Classes include Squires, Knights, Archers, Mediators, Summoners, Black Mages, etc. You meet many different characters, and a secret character reappears midway through the game. By performing a series of steps you can achieve Cloud from FF7. All in all, this game is great and extremely comparable to the other Squaresoft masterpieces. BUY IT!

Absolutely one of the best PS one RPGs created by Squaresoft, Final Fantasy Tactics takes the series in a new direction. With the battle system at the forefront of the game, it makes you think strategically about each and every encounter, including the random ones. The story is very deep as well, with many characters, both lovable and hateful. For anyone looking to try something a little different, I recommend FF Tactics. It may take a little getting used to, but I guarantee you'll fall for it in no time!

Final Fantasy Tactics is for people who have lots of time and dedication for a good RPG. This game can be over 200 hours long so dont think it's short because it's one disk. Excellent battle system and overall a must have for anyone who plays Final Fantasy games.

Old Game Same Amount of Playing Time

Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the only games in the series where you control your own characters to fight with, and your own destiny. While the graphics are of a down fall, the games sets it self up to benefit the gamer. The ability to be a master in every job signifintly makes it easier to beat the game. Some jobs are better than others. I prefer Monks, knights, and Lancers. There are five chapters to the game, and while you advance the story you will want to level up fast to hurry up and speed thrpugh the game to see its ending. Even though you can not interact with the ending after the credits what happens will not surprise anybody at all. The game should take about 40 hours of playing time and is pretty good compared to most of the games in the series.
To close I would like to say I will definetly get FF Tactics Advance for the GBA.

FFT is a masterpiece. There is hardly any word I can find to describe it. There is no game quite like it. The game play is very additive and the cool job classes made it even more attactive. The job classes and job abilities made the game more interesting by giving players the power to set their characters' abilities and stats, either a sword-wielding mage or a gun-holding swordman, it's totally up to the player. The battle system is awesome and it brings more depth to the game. Furthermore, the game have a very high replay value and I had replayed it for 20 times. I'm praying for a remake of this great game or a new one on PS2 or PS3 that have the same battle system and more job class. Personally this game is one of my all time favouites... What made it even more cool was the ability to get and use Cloud from FF7 in the later part of the game. To me this is one of the greatest game squaresoft ever made, second only to FF7....

Complex Story, Poor Translation, And Loads Of Fun, Oh My!

This game is possible one of the most fun RPGs I've ever played. It's battle system is second to none, and the incredibly annoying task of building levels is reduced to a pleasant chore. The storyline is immmensly complex (I still don't have a clue what happened), which can shy away the younger and the dumber.

One of it's few flaws is the shoddy translation job. Most of it is adequete, but there are parts that make an already complicated story impossible to figure out.

Character development wasn't the focus, and it didn't need to be. The only person that became well developed was Ramza, the main character. However, Tactics did not ignore it's other colorful characters, including the ever useless Malak and Rafa and the insanely powerful T.G. Cid.

This game is hard. Very hard. If you don't think, you die very fast and very painfully. In the beginning, you WILL die a lot. If you save in the wrong spot, you might have to restart. But eventually as your characters learn more, get better equipment, and add new and more flexable characters to your army, it becomes much less of a hassle. TG Cid alone makes the last boss a joke. But, you can choose not to use or recruit the slew of available cast members, including the powerful Cid, the super-weak twins Malak and Rafa, the noble Agrias, the young engineer Mustadio, a dazed and confused Cloud, a robot who doesn't have a clue and even chocobos and other beasts. You meet them in your travels, they are there for the taking. You can eventually remove all of those "generic" soldiers who mean nothing to the story.

The job system is VERY innovative. Based on the one used in Final Fantasy V, you can train your soldiers in many different classes, such as knight, chemist, archer, lancer, samurai, mime, just to name a few. And the skill system allows you to pair a previously learned skill from a job not being used. Ever wanted a monk who can summon beasts, or a ninja who can control time magic?

There were planty of good secrets. A secret dungeon, special characters, Zodiac stones, rare weapons, and a cameo appearance by Cloud and Aeris (from FFVII) make the thirty to seventy hours of gameplay well worth it.

The music is some spots was boring, but in battles it was beyond spectacular. Most of the non combat music was put in the appropriate context, adding great ambiance.

This game is definately worth the money you'll pay for it!

The Greatest Creation Known To Man

Now i man sound a bit over zealous here. But this game is a masterpiece of epic proportions. Never have I spent more time playing a game, and i know hundreds of others who played it just as long. And the best part, its still just as fun now as at the start.

However, the important part of really understanding this game is getting through the begginging. Many people play a game for 5 minutes and get bored cause they, frankly, are idiots with no patience. If you can simply give this game 10-30 minutes of your time and really try to understand the interworkings of the brillant battle system and the plot to the game, you will likely be just as hooked as i was.

I am sure there are thousands of people kissing squares diamond boot for re-releasing this brillant game. And you know what, you should be.

If you want a game that you may end up putting 1000+ hours in and have fun the whole time while thinking (key, if you don't like thinking, don't even try it), this is the perfect game for you.

Now i return to FFT, and in a few years i may emmerge back once again, with all lv 99 chars leveled up and down to max speed hp and attack power, if you have played the game you know what i am talking about.

Final Fantasy Tactics - The best Fantasy Yet.

Final Fantasy Tactics - a chess-like strategic breakthrough from the ever powerful Square company. With a near endless supply of unique jobs, you play the Role of Ramza, and with a team of up to 30 characters, you travel a five-chaptered story. This game is very, very worthwhile, and since it has been re-released, is now available once again! I have a friend who has beaten this game and he tells me that it [FFT] is very interesting and fun. I am almost through the 3rd chapter, and so far... I agree.
