Vive ' le France and vive le resistance!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 5 / 5

No Jimmy Patterson in this game instead you are Manon, a young french girl recruited into the french resistance after her brother is killed by the nazis. The game play is more realistic in this second installment remember how the nazis would practically stand still and let you shoot them in the first one not in this one they actually use squad manuvers and practice suppressing fire and cross fire tactics you feel like your up against real thinking soliders instead of walking targets at the gun range. The story line is as good as the first, and at the end of the game you might even run into an old buddy from the first installment. It will leave you wanting for a third version of the game heres a few suggestions maybe a Pacific theatre version or even one letting you play as the germans.

Impressive Prequel to a Classic World War II Game

Medal of Honor Underground is the 2nd game in the Medal of Honor series. Just like its predecessor, this game has very simple controls and is very simple to play, also just like the first game, this game has a 1st person view.

The game is actually the prequel in the Medal of Honor story. In the first game, before every mission, there was a hand written breifing written by another OSS agent. She was former French Resistance member named Manon. She often told you little hints about her OSS life before she met Lt. Jimmy Patterson.

This game tells the story of how Manon joined the OSS and some of the missions she was sent on. After the death of her brother, Manon joins the OSS and is sent on various missions in World War II. As in the first game, the Nazis are the enemy. There are 7 missions and 24 levels. You will be sent to places in Europe and North Africa. There are more weapons in this game. New to Medal of Honor is team up(fellow agents fight with you, drive you to safety, and crack safes). The Nazis are even more vicious, because they drive tanks, half-tracks, and motorcycles, there is even a Nazi SS castle in Germany with a couple of enemies dressed as knights with swords. If you get a medal on all 7 missions, you get a bonus level called"Panzerknacker Unleashed". It's a pretty cool mission. I'm not going to tell you about that, you will just have to find that out for yourself.

This game is just as good as the first. The music is excellent and the sound effects are impressive. But just like the first game, the graphics are a little bad. The reason of this is because it is played on the Playstation One System. But this game has what it takes to be named greatest hits on the Playstation One System. (Note: Medal of Honor also was named a greatest hit)

I played the originial and this is even better. It has even more weapons, heightened enemy AI, AI buddies, and as with the originial, outstanding realism and sound. The enemies will use motorcycles, half-tracks, and tanks to their advantage. The sound is absolutly amazing and the levels are layed out very well. The graphics aren't the best you'd expect in an almost perfect game, but they still look great. I highly suggest you buy this game. ...

Much better than the first

I just finished the game and it is AMAZING! Out of the twenty-something missions there are about five in which you get to fight alongside partners which is extremely entertaining! There is a level in which you fight people from a motorbike and the last three levels of the game are really awesome; there is a level from the first game and the kind of bad guys you encounter...! It is much harder than the first and the levels are very well made, with the environments being fully destroyable! Buy this game for all the surprises in the end and for the amazing multiplayer levels present.

Still a good game but some flaws take away a star

If you read my review on the original, you will recall I said it was "the greatest video game I've ever played." This is a good game too, but unfortunately I didn't feel it lived up to the original, and in fact, I found a few flaws, that took away from my enjoyment.

It's pretty much the same format and control scheme as the original, which makes it a very enjoyable game, very easy to learn. Unfortunately for me, this game seems to be quite a bit harder and in the later (bonus) missions, it becomes frustratingly difficult to the point of where I finally gave up without finishing it. I do not agree with the thinking of a lot of game designers who think if you just make a game harder, that will make it more enjoyable.

I was very disappointed when I got to the "bonus" missions. One of the strengths of Medal of Honor is that you are engaging real enemies, i.e. Nazi soldiers (no monsters, aliens, etc). Well in the final missions of Underground, you encounter exploding robots and dogs who drive halftracks, carry machine guns, and bazookas. Totally ridiculous and a total departure from the overall historical context of the game.

Finally I found a few bugs. Enemies that had been defeated came back to life, objectives that were cleared, were suddenly uncleared, enemies with Xray vision and worse, "x-ray bullets", and enemies who literally appeared right before your eyes.

Overall it's a fun game, I'm glad I bought it, but I'm disappointed in it and would be a little skeptical if there is ever another sequel.

Quite possible the best 1st Person shooter....ever.

The original Medal of Honor set new grounds for 1st Person Shooters on the Playstation, a genre almost completely dominated by the N64. It was a game about historically based warfare, and it had the best game play anyone could ask for. Continuing with its remarkable reputation, MOH makes a come back with the prequel, Medal of Honor Underground. Personally, this is one of my favorite games (taking the spotlight even from the original Medal of Honor). Enemy AI is as close to perfect as they can come, with enemies hiding behind corners, jumping from ledges or over walls, shooting from roof tops, ducking behind crates or barrels, etc. It really seems like they're fighting for their lives. The weopons, again, are historically acurate, ranging from crossbow to Petrol Bombs, from mounted rifles to side car shoot outs. It's all here! Get ready to be sent around the world, from Africa, to the heart of Germany. I even found just earning French medals, after completing every level perfectly of course, would have made the game fun even without these great additions. The only real draw back from this edition is that its controls are exactly like the original's, and enemies tend to have perfect aim just a little too much. But even then, I'm just being picky.

The story in this version, is you're placed in the shoes of a French Resistance member fighting to liberate your contry from the chaos of the German onslaught. Your leaders have sold out your country, sacrificing your futures and lives.

So what would you do - Surrender, Collaborate, or Resist?

perfect

This is such a great game. Being a female French underground person. It feels good to gun down a nazi. To help the Allies gain farther in the war. What else could give you a better feeling? Just go out and buy the game!

I first got medal of honor about a month ago, and it was pretty good..then I realized the little flaws such as when Manon jumps she doesn't groan or nothing or when she walks you don't hear footsteps. Those two gripes don't effect the gameplay but EA should be smart enough to include realism.Other then that the soundtrack is great I swear it has audio from those fateful times..the gunshots are authentic and the enemies grunts and groans add some entertainment..I just love showing guards fake identification and shooting them in the head when they turn around. Another gripe I have is sometimes simple tasks are difficult such as walking through doorways or past large objects such as tanks after they are destroyed.Another problem with the game is that it is brutally linear it tells you when to hit the action button and stuff. The graphics are pretty good..for the Ps1 which is not saying much.It has its flaws but it is still one of the best first person shooters for the Ps1 it is a good game for a war buff or someone who wants a decent shooting game..
