This Game Rules All PS2 Games!!!!!!!

This game is a blast! Everybody who's played it knows the storyline so i'll skip that. The verses mode rocks with four players and there are TONS of characters. The bouncer is more of a playable movie than an RPG. You can twist up the story a ton by play as different characters for every fight. And the real fun fun of the game is getting your best character up to the "S" level so you can kick your friends butts. There is only one thing i would change about this truly awesome game. I wish there was a two player Co-Op story mode.

This would be great, but...

This is an excellent looking game, probably the best looking game on the PS2 right now. But there is one major flaw to this game, Its way to short! If you skip all the cinematics then you could probably beat it in less than an hour. But it has tons of replay value and the cinematics are unbelivable! If you like fighting games and good graphics buy this game.

The Bouncer is GREAT set aside from...

The Bouncer is definetely one of the best games I've ever played, period. One minus of this game in a word is SHORT, very short. Game's great and all but I beat this game in like 1 hour! I mean, I'm not that great at video games and still, I beat it in an hour. When I saw the reviewers say "Time To Beat: 1-2 hours", I figured they're experts and there's no way I could beat it as fast as them, but I did. Another minus is in some battles, the camera angles aren't very good, but that shouldn't keep you away from this game. Now for the good part. The storyline was incredible as expected and the graphics I couldn't say enough about! Controls are simple and a really fun game to play too! Also, the versus and survival modes can keep you busy for a while. It's cool how you can battle your friend's characters and stuff. All in all, this game is GREAT and I'd give it a 5 out of 5 if it wasn't so short. They'd made it a bit longer, this game wouold've got 9.5's from everyone, not 8's or even lower. I think this game is underrated by critics and is better than the bad reviews about it. You should rent this game before you buy it or if you liked other squaresoft fighting games like EHRGEIZ, or Tobal you'll LOVE this game just like I did! Great job Squaresoft!!

Apparently I've underestimated you...

The Bouncer is your typical Squaresoft game, which means you'll get awesome graphics, a cool storyline, interesting characters, and a lot of emotion. The best way to describe this game is that it's a brawling martial arts form of a Final Fantasy game.
The graphics are top notch, with fluid and smooth animation, along with well made transitions and character models (the in-game graphics often are more awe inspiring than the FMV due to the high level of character detail).
The control scheme is simple and easily learned, but can cause some confusion and difficulty when facing off against a multitude of opponents. My main complaint with the controls is that ALL of the specials are far too easy to do.
The music is overall pretty good. It could've been better, but it's passable, and helps build things up. The only problem with the music is that sometimes is sounds as if it came out of a B-movie.
The English dubb is okay. If you're a fan of the anime scene, you'll recognize some of the voice-talents. The voice-actor for Sion Bharzhad seemed as if he was forcing some of the emotion in order to be dramatic (this is NOT good. As with film, emotion needs to come naturally to seem realistic). I prefer the Japanese voice-over simply because the voices are cooler.
The key feature of this game is its story-mode, which has the three heros going toe to toe against the Mikado corporation, being led by the vengeful Duragaun Cross Mikado, who is not only an intelligent leader, but a powerful fighter. As the story unfolds, the character backgrounds and their emotions, such as how they are and what makes them tick, becomes known. As with the majority of SquareSoft games, the player will quickly feel as if he/she personally knows the characters. The character designs are amazing, with their appearance vividly portraying their personalities.
The story mode is also the best point of the game because, while it may be short compared to an RPG, you can play through it multiple times, and easily accumilate over seven hours of playtime, and still be finding new cut-scenes and character info.
My final problem, supprisingly, is with the story-mode. Several parts of the story are unclear and require thinking to figure out (if you wish to fully understand the game). Some parts of the story may be confusing and leave some people going "what?" But that's okay. Generally, when a person reads info about a game or glances at the back of the box, they will know if the game is one in which they will like.
If you're looking for a challenging game with a great story that doesn't grow old too quickly, give this game a try. And for everyone who has a PS2, please, at least rent it once! It's worth it.

I Like it

I like this game just for the fact that you CAN beat it in less than an hour.I don't have much time to play video games, and when i do find time it's only about for an hour or so.Why is everyone complaining that it's too short? How long does it take to beat a Street Fighter game? or a Mortal Kombat game? or any fighting game for that matter? About a half an hour? Granted you only have 3 characters to choose from, but you also have the survival mode which gives you about 15,and the Vs mode, but you need the multi-tap for that.If you have a dual-shock 2 controller it's pressure sensitive, which means, the harder you hit the buttons, the harder your character hits. The replay value is great, cuz of the extra game, which allows you to keep all your stats and special skills from the previous game,You can just keep playing the extra game over and over until all your characters are maxed out with all their special moves. The graphics are really good and so is the story, and the FMV sequences are like watching an anime movie.Personally i think this game is worth getting for the replay value and the graphics. But if you spend a LOT of time playing video games it's worth just a rental.

Good graphics, downhill from there

As previously stated, the graphics in this game are awesome and remind me why I bought a PS2 in the first place. Unfortunately, that is almost all this title has going for it. One aspect of this game that really annoyed me was the fact that you were forced to follow the correct path. If you walked past the door you were supposed to take, you were pulled through. There was no mystique or difficulty in this game. After a few tries I got the fighting method down to a science. Block when the opponent is attacking and attack when he relents. The graphics in the movies are very sharp, but there are far too many movies. This game takes no real skill to beat. You don't need a guidebook to beat it, unlike Resident Evil although that is a bad comparison. One interesting feature of the game is the fact that you get to constantly change characters. If the fighting was more similar to Tekken this game would be worth the 50 bucks I spent on it. So if you want a game that will last awhile and is consistently challenging, do not buy this. If, however, you want a game that demonstrates how superior the graphics are on PS2, then pick this game up immediately

The Bouncer-The Facts of The Game

OK, people nag the short games. "They don't last long enough" or "They don't get any harder as you go along". One: It lasts a LONG time on your third or fourth time you play Story, because you have to face a much harder, tatooed Dauragon, and with having already fought him twice without regaining health, that's hard. Two: The enemys get harder each time you beat it. So it DOES get harder. Does ANYONE pay attention to the story's actual meaning? Do you even remember which one is Volt, which is Sion, and which is Kou?

Story mode is by far the best story I've heard of in a game. It starts with Mikado Special Forces (led by Mugetsu) capturing Sion's girlfriend Dominique. You go through some fourteen levels, a few of which are one-player (not active character select [meaning who you picked earlier is who you are for the short while]) like level 9, when ou split up. I took Kou through this first, and you have to match the enemy's signals (i.e. if they do the square motion, you have to press square.). If you don't you fight. Then I took Sion. He looks on a computer, and finds out that an old friend of his, Kaldea Orchid (the black panther), is a bionoid and was expiremented on when she was younger. Then he finds out that Dominique is a project, but to get further info he needs a password, and MSFs and MSF elites turn up.

Anyway, you finnaly battle your way past Volt's old "friend" Echidna twice, Dauragon a minimum of three, sometimes four, and Mugetsu three times. Congrats, you've beaten the game. The question is, though, are you ranked S?

If not, go through it again. Do it until all your characters are S (including those you unlock in Story Mode [they go up each time you beat it. I.E. They go from A-S in one story.]) That's what I did anyway.

I hate people nagging the short games.

See Ya.

tha best

ONE OF THE BEST GAMES IVE EVER PLAYED

Ill start off like this, i would buy this game even if there was just cinemas and no gameplay at all. You can chose from the characters (with about 5 to unlock). Each bouncer has his own indepth story line and attitude.

Like i said, the cinemas are the best ive ever seen, and the fights are awesome! You choose 1 character and the computer takes over the other two using some of the best AI ive ever seen. You can even do team up moves. The whole game is like playing a movie. A GREAT MOVIE.

Some people say the game is too short, it is pretty short ( my first completion time was "1 hour and 30 min") but the replay value is very very high. Think about a fighting game. You dont just play it once, you play it over and over again. Thats what THE BOUNCER is like.

All in all this is one of the best games ive ever played. GET IT you wont be disapointed!

The biggest waste of Money

For all the hype, you would have hoped it would have come at least close to being fun. Instead I beat the game in under an hour, most of the hour I spent watching stupid cut scenes. I bought a game not a bad movie, I could have beat it using only one button too. I don't like spending $50 on something that doesn't even last an hour. The replay is horrible, you fight the same people, you just get to see a different charater say different lines. It was still the same story. And are you kidding me with the 2 player section. I can't believe I wasted the minute to even load it up. I should have saved my money, taken $2 and bought Double Dragon and watched a really bad guy saves girl movie inbetween boards. Squaresoft should appolagize for releasing a game so poorly written. I want my money back!!
