I have spent many happy nights playing this game. It doesn't get old and new situations are always entertaining you. But, as the reviews for this game have proved, not ALL people enjoy this game.
It is one of those games that people either love or hate.
But if you read the reviews customers have given this game, you can see most bad reviews were based upon the game not working on their computer
My number one advice to you? CHECK OUT THE COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS BEFORE PURCHASING. This game has some odd requirements that your computer may or may not have.

However, if this game does work on your computer, you probably won't be disappointed--I sure wasn't.
It is great fun building the hotel with the furniture and building designs and watching your costumers. Improving your hotel never gets boring.
SO now, I am going to chart it out very simply for you-

**WHY YOU SHOULD BUY THIS GAME**

*Graphics are fairly good
*It never gets boring and is always fun to build the hotel with the various options it has and furniture it offers.
*Watching the people interact in the hotel environment is fascinating.
*There are several levels that give you a goal to complete.

**WHY YOU SHOULDN'T BUY THIS GAME**

*It doesn't work on everyone's computer, but if you are smart enough to check out the system requirements, chances are, it will work on your computer.

*You are not into simulation games...If you like the sims, you'll probably like this game as well. It is almost like "THE SIMS" except you are fulfilling goals, building a hotel, and magaging it..

To conclude, if it works on your computer and you like simulation games, BUY THIS GAME. You won't be disappointed!

Not like The Sims...not supposed to be

Being a huge fan of simulation games, I picked up a used copy of Hotel Giant with low expectations. I used to play Sim Tower years ago, and expected this game to be sort of like that, but with just the hotel elements (and better graphics, of course).

My used copy didn't come with a manual, so I installed and ran the game, hoping I could figure everything out. The tutorial to the game was excellent. I learned everything I needed to know about building my hotel quickly with a hands-on approach and without having to read a drawn-out manual.

After the tutorial, I played a few of the scenarios and met my goals easily. Then I decided to go on my own and build in a hotel of my choice. Designing the guest rooms in the hotel is the best part of the game, in my opinion. You can create one room and then use it over and over, or you can make every room different. You can look up what kind of rooms your potential guests are looking for and cater to their needs in order to get more people into your hotel. And if a guest staying in your hotel thinks they aren't getting their money's worth, they will tell you what they think needs improving.

One aspect of the game that I really enjoy is the different camera-angles you can view your hotel in. You can follow your guests around, seeing the hotel from their own eyes, or you can view it from a more Sims-like perspective.

While this game will keep you entertained for hours on end, I think that there is some room for improvement, or at least, expansion. You don't get to interact with the staff very much, other than managing their salary and choosing what their uniforms look like. There's no housekeeping or room service, and I think that a gift shop would also make a nice addition, as well as help you make more money (which I am finally doing after building my third hotel).

While many people like to compare this to the Sims, I do not. The two games have completely different objectives. In the Sims, you mainly control the lives of people. In Hotel Giant, the focus is on designing and maintaining a hotel that is profitable. Overall, I do highly recommend this game to people who love simulation games, as I do.

You do not know what you are getting into...

In this game u choose the location for your hotel, then u choose the style of your hotel, next u furnish your hotel, and then u manage your hotel until u get bored.... Furnishing your hotel is pretty fun because u have so many choices...but managing it is a completely different story. After u open your hotel u have to wait half an hour, and then, and only then, will customers come. (Even if u advertise!)A few will come and look at your hotel. If they don't "like" your hotel they will leave. If they do "like" your hotel they will check in. All the customers do is watch TV, work out, read, etc. Unless u enjoy watching these things it gets very boring very soon. (It does even if u do enjoy watching these things.) In order to make your hotel "good", u (Supposedly...) have to peek into your cutomers' thoughts and evaluate their idiotic complaints. (Such as: "My room needs more lighting" or "The bar does not have reservation desk" etc.)Then u "fix" the hotel, and so on and so on until u get bored....(Like I mentioned above.) Another thing is that when the music changes the WHOLE GAME FREEZES FOR FIVE SECONDS! Here's the bad part, the music changes every thirty seconds! This gets soooooo annoying! Here are the pros and cons of the game:

PROS: Building and furnishing hotel is fun

CONS: Everything else is not

Summary:
This whole game is one big mistake. If u like tycoons, you're better off staying with RCT or some other one.

Thanks for reading this! (Or at least skimming thru it.)

Great Tycoon Game!

This game is awesome, you can build your own hotels of any sort (B&B, Resort, Urban, Suburban, etc.) to your special needs. You can make any type of hotel ammenity you can think of from pools, to computer rooms. The best part is you can spy on your guests, find out their needs and compliaints, and fulfill them to your own desire. This is definitely like the Sims in many ways, but different too. You will not get bored with this game, it constantly keeps you occupied with new challenges. A recommended game to all consumers, young and old.

It Could Be Worth Your Money, But It's Not.

This game has the potential to be good but it falls short in so many ways. I wish I would have read more reviews before I purchased it. Even reading the box cover had me convinced I was getting a great game but I was fooled because I had way too many problems while playing.
1. It takes too long to load up.
2. The more stuff you add to your hotel the slower the game plays.
3. Then it freezes up the computer for no reason.
4. You have to save every five minutes so you don't lose your progress.
5. Sometimes the game just reboots on its own.
6. Too much time is spent bulding the hotel, than is spent trying to manage it.
7. This is what I hated most. You have to pass all of the game tutorials before you get access to all objects needed to be the best Hotel Manager.
My advise is this, if you want this game then buy it used. Don't waste your money.

An Average Game

I am a huge fan of SIM games, I have played pretty much every single one I could find. I thought the idea behind Hotel Giant was fun, so I got it and checked it out.

Personally, I found it very boring. You spend a LOT of time putting together rooms. It is time consuming and monotonous. For those who LOVE building their homes in the Sims, this would probably be fun for you! I found it fun for the first few hours.. but then I was so bored I had to force myself to finish and get to the fun stuff!

The game did have its good points though. The graphics are fairly good for a sim/tycoon style game and there are a LOT of item options you can choose from when desiging your rooms. Also, once you design one hotel room - you can reuse the same design over and over to get rid of some of the monotony involved in building so many rooms. Once you finally get out of pause mode from building, it is very fun to watch your guests (once they actually arrive!).

The staff controls are minimal at best .. you can't do much more than change salaries and outfits. You also can't hire maids (what kind of hotel has no housekeeping??). I would have liked more control here and more interactions.

In Sim/Tycoon style games I get more enjoyment out of managing all the little things than I do from designing, so this game wasn't great for me. For those who really love the design aspect, it would be MUCH more appropriate!

Watch out. Do not install the DirectX8.1 that comes with the game. It crashed my system BAD. I had lock-up and could not get to my Desktop. Other than that, after re-building my system - I found the game to be great. Almost worth the system crash.

Or you could watch grass grow...

I thought the idea of the game sounded fun, but it turns out it's not that interesting, long term, to sit around and watch hotel guests! I like the idea of building and running something, but I found "Tropico" (where you set up a tropical island and run it) much more fun because there is so much to do! (Setting up agriculture, industries, housing, entertainment, bribing enemies, firing workers, bulldozing tenements....) I even enjoyed Zoo Tycoon much more, since building a zoo and watching the animals is more fun than watching hotels guests. This game just doesn't live up to its potential!

Give it a chance!!

I don't know why people are complaining about 'Hotel Giant' in the previous reviews. I think the graphics are a step up compared to most strategy games. They are similar to the Sims, only you can zoom in and rotate freely! And can you 'walk around' in the Sims...?
People have complained about it being too difficult to make money - I disagree - but surely the whole point in a management game isn't to rake in money easily- it's supposed to have a challenging element.

GOOD SIM GAME IF YOU LIKE DESIGNING & MANAGING

In this game you design the interior of your hotel and run it. My sister had origionally purchased this game, but was diasappointed when she saw that you couldn't design the outside of your hotel, so I played it, and liked it. This game is not GREAT, though, like Blitzkrieg (awesome game). It is kind of akward, because the items you can place in your hotel are all different sizes, and the things you really need to put in your rooms, like baggage tables etc., are very small. This makes your hotel look weird, almost too big. The items also don't match sometimes, but you get over it. This game can be very time consuming but enjoyable. The graphics, in my opinion, are better than the Sims, and the objects are very realistic. I would only buy this game if you want to spend a lot of time designing your hotel, and not that much running it. Overall, 4 stars. Or, out of ten, 7.4
Hope this review helped!
