this is an horrible example of a video game. it absolutely does no justice to the medal of honor series. the games suffers from llllooonnnggg loading times, ridiculous mouse lag, and it takes just about a whole clip to kill the enemy. its obvious ea games only released this game to make money off of the medal of honor name. by the way does anybody else get the "cd skipping" glitch too. just about every 10 minutes of playtime the game locks up and the sound just keeps skipping. i always have to completely restart my game. dont waste your money there are better games out there

More of the same...except...

Pacific Assault is more expansion pack than new game. The opening sequence at Pearl Harbor is excellent. Afterwards, the action is similar to previous MOH's. The reason? Most of the development crew moved on to create the far superior Call of Duty. And the new A.I. they tout? It's a load... enemies are more effective in groups, but the action ends up the same old thing. Unless you are passionate about the MOH series, save this for a $20 pick-up.

Medal of Honor.finally the way it was meant to be played.

This game really is fun. it is not as scripted as call of duty. but it is fun. i felt like I was there. the graphics are just awsome if not better than call of duty. i have a Amd anthlon 64. 5900 xt nvida with 512 ddr 3200 ram..this game ran fine with a bit of adjustment. like most new games now days. there are a lot of reviews that dont make sense to me. the game is really involved. No health packs to pick up or water bottles. you actually have to call over the medic.plus great plane crashes while your fighting..this game delivers. you wont be wasting your money..

NOT Win98-WinMe Compatible!!!!!!

This game continues in a similar vein to the previous MOH titles, with a few enhancements. In Pacific Assault, the player gets the chance to fly aircraft from that theater. The Director's Edition requires a DVD player and is compatible ONLY with Win2000 & WinXP. The publisher told me that they do have plans to release a Win98/Me compatible version, but they don't have a specific date as to when it will be released.

A M.O.H. fan, but this was a let down in a way...

I've always been a Metal of Honor fan, still am even though this game did not live up to what I really though it would live up to. I do agree the load time is alittle long, but it seems to load fairly well on my Dell 8200, with a P4 at 2.60Ghz and 1gig of RDRAM PC800, and a Radeon 9800 All in wonder card. The framerates were pretty good on my PC setup aswell.

To make this a short review, I honestly could not get into the gamestory or plot like I did when I played earlier M.O.H. games.

I'm still a M.O.H. fan, but I guess this game plays and looks more like a Vietcong game than a WW2 game, but hey the really fault in the jungles like this in the Pacific in WW2.

It's worth buying and playing, but don't expect something like M.O.H.:Allied Assault.

something missing

This game is about WW 2 in the pacific as the title indicates. In this game you follow your character from Pearl Harbor to the southern most point on the Japanese Islands. The major downpoint of this game is that you are more watching a Movie instead of actually playing a video game. Although you get some good playing time in, it isn't completely worth having to watch the videos inbetween playing time

Decent, but not the best

Though lots of this game is pretty historically accurate, there are parts where it goes a bit too far, like in the airplane mission as others have mentioned. They wouldn't transport marines in Dauntlesses, nor would a marine with little or no flying experience be able to fly one.
The most annoying part about that misison also was the aspect of having to use your mouse to control the plane, it's incredibly hard. (I never did finish that mission, I got too frustrated and skipped it)
Gameplay for me was extremely slow. People moved really slowly, reloading took a long time, etc. Also, it took nearly a ridiculous amount of shots to bring the Japanese down. I mean, you hit a guy 15 times with a BAR he's not getting up and still firing at you. Some of the missions seem to last for hours, and you have to wait a ridiculous amount of time every time it loads after you die, or it switches levels, or whatnot, making it rather frustrating.

However, I do like the medic aspect of it (it's a bit more realistic...you don't get instant heal packs in the middle of battle) and the Pearl Harbor mission I really enjoyed (though parts seemed a bit unrealistic, but my knowledge of everything that happened that day isn't perfect).

Overall, this is a decent game, but it's far from perfect.

Good but needed polishing badly

First off the cinematics and sounds of this game are simply awesome a perfect 10 they run like a movie however gameplay is where this game sinks in its grade as it is flawed noticeably bad. Youll be playing and notice a lot of "slowdown" as if theres somehing wrong with the physics of the game and the movement of your character seems off like hes dragging a bit, quite a bit. This is still a fun game but a little bit of a disappointment that with such a good story and cinematics nothing could be done to polish the player movements up a bit. To its benefit, for some reason or another, this almost gives the gameplay a realistic type feel sometimes making you feel like you are a part of the action. You would have to play it to see what I mean. Overall this game has flaws and does not run as smooth as Allied Assault or Call of Duty but it is still an engaging game that will be seen as a gritty fight while your playing it. If you can find the game for around 20 bucks or less I would say it is worth checkin out for sure if your a fan of WW2 shooters.

As real as real can get and then some...

This game is so friggin unbelievable... I downloaded the free demo from EA Games and I just love this. I have to buy the director's edition when I get money. Historically very accurate as to what the battles were really like in the pacific back in the 40's. My grandpa fought against the japs and after playing this game, I have so much more respect for him now than I ever did before not only for what he did for our country with protecting our way of life but also for the intensity and willpower to survive something so brutal and awful. This game has probably close to 50 different weapons. BAR, the M1A1, .50 caliber machine guns, grenades, and so much more...

After seeing what my grandpa went through in the pacific, this game was a very shocking reality about how violent and graphic warfare really is. When the japs came at my character across the airfield with about 50 guys drawing samurai swords, and bayonets attached to their rifles I was like, "oh f***"! I jumped on the .50 caliber and took them all out. If you buy this game, or even just like to play first person shooter games, you will not be disappointed at all... It is worth every penny spent

Not Bad - But not Great either

I LOVED COD and MOH Allied Assault. I played COD first, then MOH Pacific before playing MOD Allied Assault. I am going to list the negatives first then the positives last.

Like another review I read - the Tarawa level IS meant to kill you. To be honest, I used the "god" mode cheat to get through it and was amazed. I figured I would have had to spend 20-40 hours - loading and reloading the game after being killed to have gotten it on my own. It felt like an arcade game at this point. I didn't use any cheats on any other level but I just didn't have time (after 2 hours of play) to keep trying to get from the landing spot past the pier!

You do need a good computer or you will spend as much time reloading after you die as you do playing. I started on a 1.6 gig 512 mb ram PC and it convinced me it was time to build a new one! Finished it on an AMD dual-core 5200 with 2 gb ram and a Gigabyte 7600vt video card. Load times and game play are not an issue now.

Didn't like the 'jungle borders' - you know - the boundaries that keep you 'in' the game, not wandering away into oblivion. Sometimes I thought I was on the path and ended up stuck in the scenery or crawling aimlessly away in the wrong direction.

Very frustrating when you go down - even with no Japanese soldiers near you and your squad firing right by your side, a Japanese soldier walks over and either shoots, stabs, or rifle butts you to death as the scene quickly fades away.

Having said that, many levels are nice. I like the medic and the squad you work with. Certain levels were very good - I actually LIKED shooting down the planes bombing the hangers at Henderson Field AFTER I read the walkthrough and figured out where the planes were coming in and where I needed to shoot.

This game is worth buying/playing if you are into WW2 games. I don't like the arcade type games and this had that kind of feel at times but others were realistic. Final thoughts - learn how to use cheat codes and use the "god" mode (you can walk through anything with this - but I don't like calling it "god" mode) and work quickly through the levels you don't like - don't waste your time if you aren't having fun right.
