Tekken 1, 2 and 3 put together with a 2000 paint-job.

I believe that Tekken has always been one of the best fighting series on any platform and that Namco (the publisher & developer) makes some of the best games around including Ridge Racer, Soul Caliber and Time Crisis series. Tekken Tag Tournament (TTT) is the combination of all 3 Tekken games with a nice look.

The game starts out with a very nice CG (computer generated) intro. Namco has some of the world's best CG animators and you can see that in a lot of Namco's games like R4. Just like you were first blown away by the powerful Tekken 3 intro, you'll get the same effect by this one.

The gameplay remains the same as in Tekken 3, except for some new moves. The main feature in TTT is that there is now a 'tag' option. You pick your two characters and then you tag in and out while fighting your other 2 opponents. It's really nice because you can perform double-combos with the two characters together. In total, there are over 30 characters to choose from. They are all gathered from the series' 3 games. Each has their own, unique 3 to 2 types of clothing, and LOTS of moves and combos to be creative with. The graphics are what you'd expect from PlayStation2. But this is only the beginning. I'm sure Tekken 4 will be much better. The backgrounds are very nice with moving people and objects like flangs and plants. There is even an area where you fight on grass and you can step on it and see the effect of how it's smashed.

Overall, Tekken Tag Tournamet is only a sort of a 'preview' of what we can expect from PlayStation2 and Namco in the years to come.

This game kick butt. My friend bought an imported ps2. The game runs so smoothly and with super awesome graphy. The most amazing thing is that the tag team option, you can fight with friend together against pc. You definitly need to try this game.

Good, but PS2 is capable of alot more.

My friends dad is in the video game industry so i get to play a american ps2 everytime i go over to his house. Out of his 3 American games he owns this is definatly my favorite. The gameplays smooth with a good framerate. There's 30+ guys for variety. And the tag modes pretty cool. My complaints though come from the capabilitys of a PS2. First it has a seperate procesor for graphics sound and of course a main procesor. The majority of games set for the launch aren't using all 3. Next it supports 4 types of media: Old playstaion games (about 650 mbs) PS2 CD-ROM games (a little more then PSX 700 mbs) PS2 DVD games (3200 mbs) and the huge double layered PS2 DVD games (6400 mbs.) And they also color coded them so you could know if the game you got was on a regular disk (black is PSX, Blue is CD-Rom, and Silver, which everygame should be is Either DVD.) Hmmmm if TTT was on a larger disk there might be beter graphics more moves maybee 70 characters more detailed levels etc. And they would still have room to spare. Soul Calibur which is one year older and on a much weaker system beats TTT majorly on the graphics. Im hopeing Tekken 4 will be alot better then this. I also cant wait till my friend can get something like grand tourism 2000 or metal gear solid 2. Finally if you wana see screen shots of TTT (or anyother PS2 game) IGN has about 40 high res shots. (I cant give u the exact url but its the same as aol's just instead of aol its ign.

Disappointment

I have the import version of this game.

It is exactly like Tekken 3. There are literally no new characters, no CG endings whatsoever, the graphics aren't even that much better when you see it in motion. The backgrounds are so bad they look 2D, and the grass that was touted to "swing in the wind" on Eddy Gordo's stage look flat and motionless, like the trees in Mario 64.

As for the "tag" feature, it is implemented in a horrible fashion. Unlike every other tag game, in this one the first character that dies, the WHOLE MATCH is over. Your second character doesn't jump in. It is absurd!

The game is simply outdated, the motion capture looks stiff, the control system is clunky, and it brings nothing new to the genre...and to add insult to injury, Namco declined to add even half of the options they included in their Dreamcast port of Soul Calibur.

Get Dead Or Alive 2: Hardcore instead, or Soul Calibur on Dreamcast

This game is one you must get

This game is an excelent game for thoose who love fighting games, even thoose who don't. It's got a large variety of players, awsome moves and special cinematix for each, and smooth looking graphics. This is one of thoose games that you must get along with the platform because this game will give you and your friends hours and hours of fun. I very much subjest you buy this game.

Simply, Tekken Tag Tournament is the best game so far for the Playstation 2. I've played it a million times. Sure some people say it's just like Tekken 3, 2 words.... It's NOT. With returning characters from Tekken 2 and Tekken 3, I think game will go to the top!

What are you confusing about?

I would actually choose 99 stars out of 100 stars for this game. You know what, I've seen Teken Tag Tournament on PS2 before, it has a very smooth movement and the Graphic is more than awesome you could possibly imagine! and please Do not compare with the arcade version, PS2 version is far better!

Let me ask you a question, Can you find any better fighting games like Tekken Tag Tournament? Virtua Fighter is even no compare at all!

Tekken, king of fighting games.

Any serious gamer will agree that Tekken is one of the most advanced and fun fighting games around. It has survived through 4 versions and managed to not stagnate like many others have. Mortal Kombat for example. The game combines characters from all three tekkens and still retains playabilty. This is because all of the characters have been upgraded and they all have new moves.

As for the graphics. We all know that the ps2 is a graphics machine. And TTT is no exception. As far as I'm concerned, TTT on the ps2 looks better than any game in the arcade, PC, or dreamcast to date.

If you want a game that won't collect dust on your entertainment center after 10 hours of gameplay, then I highly recommend you look into this game. I've been playing it since it came out, and I will continue to play it until the next version of tekken is released.

What a dissapointment!!!

The first thing that will pop into your mind when you first see the game is "No way is this next generation, is it???"

Take Tekken 3, give it slightly better graphics, add a lame tag mode, make it look jaggy as hell and you have TTT.

Blech

I think antonpd should shut up
