Very unusual video game

I've played some weird games before, but this one really takes it. Like other reviewers, I must concur that "mama" is almost completely unintelligible. At first my wife and I thought she was actually speaking Japanese, but it turns out it's just English in a very thick accent. The music to the game is so annoying I just know it's going to pop up in a dream at some point. The game itself is far more difficult than others will lead you to believe and has you twisting, tilting, stirring and doing just about everything else with the Wii remote. Many of the challenges don't seem to be graded fairly and the scoring system makes no sense at all. In addition, you'd think they'd come up with a more exotic or interesting American dish than "popcorn", come on, our cuisine isn't that insipid. All in all, the game is great for a rental and a ton of laughs, rent it when you have company over and it's a real hoot, just don't spend $50 on it unless you really want to perfect the video game method of cracking eggs and using a rolling pin.

More frustrating than fun.

I was excited when we got a Wii because I am not a big gamer (my husband is the gamer in the house), but the games looked really fun and I was looking forward to some games that I could play for a change. Cooking Mama was one I was hoping to get my hands on. Hubby finally brings it home one night and we throw it in while the kids are asleep. Trying to figure out what Mama wants you to do is a hassle. The screen will display instructions before each event, yet the controls are off or something because we both had a lot of trouble accomplishing the goals. Then you've got Mama yapping on about "dude not mine" or whatever it is she is rambling... it's so hard to tell because it sounds like a japanese woman speaking english but trying to throw in another accent. I see from these reviews that a lot of others have complaints about understanding Mama. (wish I could toggle her off--lol) I can't bring myself to play more than a few recipes and I want to shut the game off. I think this game is for people who don't know a thing about cooking because I could go to the kitchen and cook a 3 course meal a lot easier than cooking w/ Mama. I wish I had saved my money... this game is just not fun to me...

Waste of Time & Money

I love to cook and thought that this game would be like "Iron Chef". I was totally disappointed! The graphics are good. The commentating is completely annoying and in non-sensical Japanglish. I feel like I wasted $50 on this game.

I loved this game on the DS. I pre-ordered it for the Wii. I was very excited. It was a total let down. The controls are weak and slow. I just finished Zelda, I know how precise the controls can be. And it was not very fun. I am returning it on Monday for what ever insult of a trade in EBX gives me.

Family Fun

This game is fun and easy enough for anyone to use. I've had family members from 50 to 4 play this game and they all laugh and tell me how much they love it. Of course this isn't your average video game - it doesn't have any blood and gore, no RPG aspects, but it's still so much fun! It sounds like a silly concept because you could always go to the kitchen and cook a meal, but for parents who don't want their kids around heat or families that just want to have a good time and not worry about points and HP, then this is the game for you!

Control issues

I like the game, but on the Wii, it's a little difficult. The Wii controls take some getting used to, and there are some parts that are very tedious and difficult, such as peeling veggies. The voice overs are kind of odd sounding because they're not spoken by a native speaker of English.

The game is cute and fun though. So if you like the Cooking Mama series buy this, but you should be skilled with the Wii mote.

Lots of fun for me and my friend!

I am a 17 year old girl, and I truly enjoy this game. There are myriad different recipes, so the game does not get boring (I still haven't made all of the meals yet)! Me and my friends (yes, even my male friends...) love this game, and we have a great amount of fun, laughing the entire time.

I would recommend this game, especially to see all the cool function of the wiimote.

You feel a great sense of accomplishment after making a really difficult recipe, such as Borscht or Lasagna!

I love this game!

Cooking fun for girls...and boys too!

This is a must own for anyone with the Wii! I had my two teenage nieces over for a weekend during the NYE holiday and they wanted to play my Wii for the first time. Well, around Thanksgiving I got one my nieces (the 16 year old) the Cooking Mama for DS. She liked the DS version so much that she wanted to rent the Wii version for them to play. They played into the wee hours of the night! I had my stepsons (10yrs and 4yrs old) over for the next weekend. I still had rental time on Cooking Mama and they said they'd try it. I went to watch a DVD and kept hearing what appeared to be yelling from the boys. I ran to room to see they were cheering each other on to hurry and finish tasks required by the game. They were playing against each other but would help each other so they'd both finish and get a reward. The game even gets you feeling like you've cooked something. Hahaha! Get this game!

Great game!

I cooked everyday and I think before I purchase this game: Do I want to cook even when I try to relax and playing some vedio game? It turns out this game is so much fun! I am amazed that one wii remote can do so much different things. I even learn a lot of dishes (of course, not the detail receipe)and have a rough idea how these dishes are made. I recommand this to everybody who likes to cook!!
