A lot of excitement

I was pretty hooked on Excite Truck the first time I played it. A lot of fun. Would have been perfect if there were more depth, rather than simply increasing difficulty as you move up the level. But it's definitely hard to put down once you get started on it!

EDGE of your seat ACTION!!!

The Wii is my first console after a long time. Truly amazing. I actually bought it because of EXcite Truck. I played this game at GameSTop and fell in love with it. SIMPLY amazing game.

Progression through the game unlocks cars. Gameplay is somewhat similar to the old nintendo favorite excitebike but raised to the "X" level.

This game takes great advantage of the Wii controllers..

GO AHEAD, grab a copy!!

Great game that brings out the kid in all of us!

I would recommend this game to everyone. Especially boys age 5-100!! Add your own MP3s to the SD Card and use them while you race to make the tracks more personal to your taste.

Losing sleep over this game!!!

Excite truck is an absolute blast. I bought it for my kids (7,5) last christmas and it's still our most popular game. The jumps, the spins, the crashes... you literally find yourself cracking up during game play. Two-player is great but I usually wait for my kids to fall asleep and then try to achieve the multitude of awards under single player. It's through single player that you are able to unlock bigger and badder trucks to race. Do yourself a favor, if you are just buying yourself the wii console and want to purchase a few games with it, make sure this game is one of them.

fun for Mom

We have had this game for about a year. It is a lot of fun for this 43 year old Mom. I don't usually play console games because my button pushing coordination level is about 0. This game, like other wii games, has limited button pushing and more closely RESEMBLES actual driving. The turning of the wii remote is a bit different than turning a steering wheel but can be mastered . It is incredibly fun and addictive. It is also extremely gratifying to occasionally beat my "gamer" son. Your advantage: practice at night a few times when he has to go to bed!

a great game

i first played this game at eb games when the wii first got released. i was hooked the second i played it at the kiosk. from then i knew that this would be one of the first games i would buy when i got a wii. i got my wii yesterday and since i have spent most of the time on my wii playing this game. this game reminds me alot of ssx or ssx tricky (the fast paced snowboard race game) but with trucks. some might complain that this isnt real but i think doing spins and stunts in the trucks is amazingly fun and jumping hundreds of feet in the air and landing perfect to get a boost is fun. i highly recomend this game for any one it is great for all ages and satisfies your need for something fast paced and fun

Not a racing game

I got Excite Truck for Christmas, and I was pretty glad. I hadn't asked for it, but I like racing games, generally. Reading the box, it looked pretty fun, and so I began the game. After figuring out the name entry process (you need to hold the controller sideways) I began a forced tutorial. It was a bit of a pain, but I finally unlocked the races. So I jumped to them right away, figuring the rest of the tutorial wouldn't be needed.

But Excite Truck, as it turns out, is not a racing game. It can help to finish first, but what you really need to do is manage to get a certain amount of "stars", acquired by such amazing feats as crashing, running into trees, and turning. I was pretty confused; the box says nothing about this and calls it a racing game. I don't like the game's alternative. Driving games are supposed about reaching point A a certain number of times: it keeps your concentration going. Having to do tricks makes you constantly worry if you are going you have "enough" to get a good rating on the race. This is not a good thing.

So where's the "Excite"? In the controls, sadly. The Wii remote is used very poorly in Excite Truck. You hold it horizontally, and move it like a steering wheel. Unfortunately, the kind of steering wheels the developers had in mind seem to be very erratic. Turning is a game of chance: you will either not move at all, or you will make WAY too sharp a turn. Perhaps the only saving grace of this game are the graphics: they are beautiful, and everything is wonderfully textured. But if you're looking for a fun game, this is not the game you are looking for. Stay away!

Decent use of the Wii controller, but gets old fast

OK I admit I'm not a big fan of racing games. I liked Burnout 2 on the Xbox, but that was mostly because of its crash mode. How much fun can you have driving in circles over and over again? Yeah the courses change and there is the competition aspect, but really in the end you are just sitting there holding down the accelerator button and tilting the controller. There's no real strategy, suspense, or thinking. Oh and the physics are weak. Explain to me how a car can turn in mid air with no wheels touching the ground? This may be fun for parties for about 5 minutes at most.

Beware this game

If you got a Wii for Christmas with only the included Wii sports or with the Wii Play package, Excite Truck could create household issues. The bottom line is that this game is lots of fun. In fact, it's a whole lot more fun than the basic Wii games, which will mean that your kids won't really find the basic Wii games to be all that interesting anymore. They'll just want to race. That may be just fine with you. But if you got the Wii because you wanted a video game that was more active and less like a traditional arcade game, this may defeat the purpose.

On the other hand, the game is a blast . . . .

I've played better "racing" games

The control scheme is great, but the game gets old. Once you have earned all the trucks, there's really nothing to hold your interest. This is not a game that I wanted to keep coming back to.
Maybe they'll port Burnout to the Wii - that would be fun!
