Blown away by this game

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 4

Not sure if people have given this game a chance since it was overshadowed by Zelda at launch, but with the component cables displaying 480p, this game is amazing. The graphics are beautiful and the control is unprecedented. In addiion the sense of speed rivals and may even surpass Burnout. Hopefully more people give it a try.

Excite Truck is "next-gen" gaming material....

I have only played this game for what 20 minutes and in the first 5 fell in love w/the game.I liked the stage where you can get on to the Great Wall of China(I think thats what it is).And my dad played this and for 4 minutes and gave the wii a 8/10!He said it could go up if he played more. The controls are so easy and fun!!!I highly recommend this to any wii gamer or person who is getting a wii.

Embodies what the Wii is supposed to represent -- FUN!

Although it make take a little while to get used to the controls (especially seasoned gamers), this game is one of the best games on the Wii and epitomizes what the Wii is supposed to be -- emphasizing fun over everything else. The greatest thing about this game is that it levels the playing field between casual and "hardcore" gamers. Because there are so many ways to gain stars (winning the race only gives you a measly 15 points against another player) I am a casual gamer who prefers less involving games to play in my free time, and I found myself regularly beating very experienced gamers.

Complaints: The manual leaves much to be desired and doesn't explain gameplay very well. I really wish there were more environments (those that are included are AWESOME though). And despite the amount of replayability on this game, I pretty much exhausted all of the unlockables in less than a week.

Extremly Addicting! Reviewed by Tyler and Everett

Excite Truck is an extremly fast paced and intense racing game for the Wii console that brings you one step further into the action by using the Wii Remote as a steering wheel. Unlike most racing games, not just coming in first place wins because you recieve points for completing certain actions, such as smashing opponents hard enough to send them flying and you also recieve points for daring manuevers like driving between and near trees.

Learning to drive using the Wii Remote can be difficult at first until you learn to master the "tilt" control of the Wiimote.

Tyler:
Graphics - Not exceptional however you don't really notice the graphics when you're racing because you are very involved in the game.
Music - This game allows you to access music that you have stored on the SD card you can put in the Wii, and use your songs during the races. I love to hear my favorite music during the races.
Controls - Tricky to learn at first but then it becomes almost intuitive.
Overall - A must-have quintisential game for the Wii!!

Everett:
Graphics - Could be better, you don't pay very much attention to them.
Music - Without an SD card the music is lame and repetitive, but with an SD card, it is just as good as your music is.
Controls - Unique and confusing at first, but once it "clicks" you don't need to think about them.
Overall - A must-have "eXciting" racing game for the Wii!

My Kids and Grandkids Love It !!

I'll keep this short. Read the other reviews for the details of the game.
My kids (in their 40's) and grandkids (teenagers) love it. I bought it "used" from an Amazon supplier and it quickly arrived in perfect condition. Did I make a mistake??
I was a little unsure if the kids would really have fun with this game since it's a bit on the crazy side and certainly not anything that could happen in real life. Let's face it, speeding trucks just don't float through the air and smash into trees with wild abandon..
Well, I've been kicked off the HDTV and it's been taken over by EXCITE TRUCK! The kids and grandkids are mad over it. they absolutely love it.
Another Wii hit!
"Nuff said, I guess"

Very fun but flawed in a few ways.

Excite Truck is built on a great concept. Tiltling the remote like a steering wheel to blast your way through enviroments pulling off awesome stunts and soaring trough the air at enourmous hights delivers a fun and action packed expirience. However, Excite Truck isn't able to live up to it's full potential simply because thier isn't enough content. With only 6 places to race, the game doesn't have much variety and can get old. Also the multiplayer is totaly underwhelming. Since only two players can take part, the racing isn't nearly as intense or fun as the single player mode. Still, Excite Truck is still worth a purchase if you own a Wii just because it's REALLY fun to play.

Fun... and Addicting!

This game is a lot of fun. As I was going through the mandatory tutorials at the beginning of the game I was a bit skeptical, but it had me hooked after the first couple races. The steering system (tilting the controller side to side) seemed gimmicky at first, but once I got used to it, I realized that it actually draws you into the game even more.

The scoring system for this game is a little unorthodox, so if you're looking for a straightforward racing game, this is not for you. You get some points for finishing in first place (or any other place except last), but in order to win you have to earn other points throughout the course by doing things like jumping through rings, doing tricks in the air, smashing up the other trucks, driving really close to trees without hitting them, etc. You even get a point for a spectacularly good crash. :) You can even win the course after coming in last place, if you got enough points in other ways.

One other thing to note about this game is that once you receive an "S" grade (the highest award) on each course, you unlock "Super Excite" mode with a bunch more races, and you also unlock the possibility for many more trucks. In my opinion there are a few too many trucks to choose from (they all have slightly different speed/air/handling/etc attributes), especially once you get to Super Excite mode, but that is a minor nitpick, and some people may actually enjoy having that many options.

I highly recommend this game, it is fun, addicting, and has a lot of replay value to keep you entertained for a long time.

Great Launch Title

I held off on getting this game at launch, preferring to spend my money on Zelda and Rayman. I'm sorry I held off so long. Don't get me wrong, Twilight Princess and Raving Rabbids are both great games which I have no regrets of buying, but I definitely waited far too long to pick up Excite Truck.

Strategy plays so much more a part of Excite Truck as opposed to conventional racing games. To pass a level you have to earn enough "Star Points." You earn points based on what place you finish the race, your air time on jumps, drift length, and crashing into other cars. Heck, you earn a point every time you run into a tree. Your job is find the right balance between racking up points throughout the level while still placing high enough to net you enough points.
There is a good balance between the different types of trucks. None of them feel more powerful than another, but there are plenty of times where one type of truck just won't cut it for the type of level.

The controls are incredibly intuitive. In other racing games, you might turn the entire remote when you need to take a sharp turn. Now it actually helps. It might take you awhile to get used to not having to press a button to turn, as I found myself on several occasions hitting my turbo boost and wondering why I wasn't turning, but after a few tracks I was more than accustomed to the new control scheme.

My only issue with Excite Truck would be the limited tricks. When you're in the air, the only trick you can add to your air time is a spin. I would have loved to have a Tony Hawk-esque list of moves I could pull off while I'm waiting for my truck to touch down.

In closing, Excite Truck is definitely a load of fun, with edge of your seat white knuckled fun. To see all of the courses won't take you long, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be buckling down and shooting for 'S' ranks on all of the courses. And THEN it's a matter of tackling "Super Excite" mode and unlocking all of the trucks.

I luv it!

This game is completely cool. The controls are really easy to use and they have a tutorial to teach you everything you need to know. While being totally fun it can also be challenging at the same tme. It was totally worth the $50 and more! I you ever decide to buy a Wii this is one of the games you should definately buy. It can live up to the great Wii name and is just as good as Wii Sports!

Our first purchased Wii game beyond the sports game. Easy to get started but lots of challenge for more experienced gamers. Neat way to use the controller and it is quite easy to become comfortable. Scenery is great and varied. If you like driving games GET IT!
