Best in the series yet-if not the best of all time

This game is incredibly fun. Normally the vs. games like this lack replay value and get boring quickly. But not this one. In total you have 56 charecters, and can have three on three battles. This game takes fighting games to new levels. If you own a dreamcast and don't have this game, you need to get it-bottom line.

With Tekken Tag Tournament dominating the arcades, jaded arcade goers such as myself craved something new and refreshing. That avenue of refreshment came in the form of Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes. This game is insane to say the least!

Three on Three Tag Team matches + 56 playable characters + 3D backgrounds + excellent jazz music = pure delight. Given all the elements of the game, the action is lightning quick and will sometimes leave you asking "What the heck just happened?" The combos are fun and easy to do, so nearly anyone can pick this game up and become good in short while. The sound quality in this game is just excellent. Character voices and the background music are crisp and clear. The great jazzy soundtrack is welcome change from the tired remixed scores from previous Vs. games and it combines well with the action on screen. The character animations are also superb and smooth. Even better are the stunning 3D backgrounds, contrary to popular belief, the 2D characters are not anomalous in their new environment, in fact they enhance their appearance.

The only minor problem about this game is the fact that it caters to cheap players. A single button can annoyingly send out an assist partner for duration of the game and two buttons can initiate a single, double, or even triple Hyper Combo on your opponenet! Beginning players usually get massacred by advanced ones. Some rounds last only thrity seconds (or less!). So be wary.

All in all, MVC2 is an awesome game with ENDLESS REPLAY VALUE. Just watching the game is a treat in itself. If don't mind the game's mild "cheapness", then this is the ultimate fighting game for you.

An absolutely FLAWLESS game! MUST-BUY!

This game is PURE perfection. I never really enjoyed the Street Fighter games that much before because i had no skill in it and I was always being whooped. But when i played Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter on an arcade machine, I fell in love with the Vs. series. Even though MSH vs. SF was the worst one, i was hooked. I rented X-men vs. Street Fighter for the PSX and then bought MSH vs. SF. Needless to say, I spent hours and hours on it. But there were major flaws in the game. For one thing, there was a small roster. And all the "secret characters" were basically clones of the other characters with different color pallettes... And due to the Playstation's memory limitations, there was an EXTREMELY limited tag mode with. And there was alot of slow down in the game also. But MvC2 changed all that. After the moment of playing it at the arcade, I knew i needed the game. I bought it for the Dreamcast a few days after it came out and I'm so happy with it. Gone are the 2d backgrounds and there are 3D backgrounds that work out very nicely. Every character is incredibly detailed with fluid animation. No slow down here. And instead of 2 on 2, there's now 3 on 3! It's absolutely amazing. You can pull of those 3-digit combos with ease. Finally, there is a whopping 56 characters in the roster. Fifty-six! 32 of which you unlock i believe through a point and store system. But stop reading this review! BUY THIS GAME NOW!

My friend has this game as an import this is one of the greatest games ever made by capcom. You could pick all of the same players if you have all the 52 players. There is so many combos you could do that it might take you about 1 year or more to master the air combos. If you haven't played this game you got to check it out.

I keep telling people I'm not a fan of fighting games. However, the Dreamcast keeps making a liar out of me with some of the best fighting games, and i keep buying them. I doubt there is a fighting game that is better at combining all the factors that go into a great game. The game s very easy to learn, as most of the combos are pretty easy to master; almost pick up and play. However, the stratgey involved in pulling these moves and when to let loose with a combo adds a lot of depth. It gets deeper when you add all the characters that need to be unlocked. There is a total of 56 characters! Thus replay value is a forgone conclusion. The graphics are phenomenal. The 2D characters are place atop 3D back grounds. This is a fighting game for fans of the genre as well those that aren't.

The best refined Marvel vs Capcom engine yet!

Fast sprites all jumping into your retina and plowing your brain with ultra technicolor, this game rocks at parties and when your bored. Just plain fun, although not as refined and strategy dependant as Street Fighter Alpha 3. The game is worth owning if your a fan of 2D fighters.

Can't say enough about this game

I like the entire vs. series from Capcom. What a concept! Now we have a sequel that gives you a 3 character tag team with even more bells and whistles. Very flashy game and you could never get bored with so many characters to choose from. This game has fun written all over it. Forget what you read about 3D fighting and graphics. I always thought people played video games for fun and if fun is what you want, go out and buy this game.

Thia game was great! With 56 characters and even more crazy moves and nice backround graphics this has to be one of th best games on the market to day! My personal favorites are Ryu, Wolverine, Cable, Spider Man, and Guile. Before you buy this make sure to get a VMU. I had to save up my money again after buying this game to get a VMU because without it you will not beable to get hidden characters/Levels etc...Buy this game and have a good time with it!!!!!!!!

BUTTON MASHERS NEED NOT APPLY

For a time, I had had it with fighting games. Far too many battles were won by luck. Button mashing was the only technique that a player needed to achieve a favorable outcome. True, I was once a button masher myself, but those dark days were over and I lusted for a fighting game with zest, pep, and no button mashing. Then along came a glorious game entitled "Marvel vs. Capcom 2" (re: no button mashing in my house). What sets this game apart from other lack-luster, button mashing infested games is that one cannot win by simply randomly mashing buttons (i.e. "Button mashing"). After purchasing this game, I invited over a friend of mine who was a notorious button masher. Time after time, fight after fight, that pompus button masher was annihilated by my non-button mashing style. While standing victorious above my conquered foe, I laughed, and it was a sweet laugh, filled with the satisfaction of knowing the filthy button mashing had been purged from our great earth. To sum up: NO BUTTON MASHING IN THIS GAME, non-button mashers will love, button mashers will bellow the tortured bellows of defeat forevermore.

The best fighting game of our time

This game is awesome! It has like 56 characters in it to play from, insane graphics, an 3d worlds. This blows the doors off of SSB on N64 and is better than SSBM on GC. This is the only fighting game you need(except Marvel Vs. Capcom 1).
