This game is incredible!

This game is nearly perfect in every way. From its huge lineup of fighters (a whopping 56 total) to its extremely addictive gameplay, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 gets my vote for greatest fighting game of all time. First, the gameplay. Many people say that it is "over the top" or "button mashing". Sure, you can play that way. But once you learn the fighting style (which is not button mashing), you will always win against a button masher, and the game will be more fun. There are also many advanced techniques to learn (snap back, variable combination, tech hits, and other moves with baffling names) that will greatly affect the way you play. And its just amazing how much stuff can happen at once on screen. The gameplay is lightning fast, and it is pretty cool to watch, even if you can't keep up with the action.

As for graphics, I don't know if they can get any better. The characters were meant to be animated 2-D, and I have no problem with that. But the best part of the graphics is the awesome 3-D backgrounds. They look so good that you would think they are ultra- detailed 2-D, but they are not!

The characters have their own sounds which for the most part I like (although "optic blast" and a few others can get on your nerves), but the music is so-so. It really doesn't fit the game I think.

The controller setup is perfect. People criticize the dreamcast controller as "awkward", but I love it and I think it goes perfectly with this game, with the two trigger buttons acting as the partner buttons. Overall, this is the kind of game that is hard to put down, especially with two players. A little bit more modes of play would have been nice, but you just won't care. Attention: All fighting game fans MUST own this game!

sweet game

This game is awsome. I love the way you can do all 3 of your guy's hyper combos by pressing L and R. Cable is so sweet. all you dod with him is press Y with him and he fires his gun. All the moves are pretty ezy in this game once you figure them out. It is a challenge to get all 56 characters cause you only start out his 30 or so and its great how there is a training mode where you can figure out all the secret characters hyper combos. I dont get how wolverine is a secret character and normal charater though. I think its a glitch. OVerall, this game is a good buy and its really a fun multiplayer game becasuse of all the action

A masterpiece in fighting game history!

This is a great fighting game, it will take some while to adapt to it but it's worth it. To unlock secret characters you must play either, Arcade Mode, Score Attack Mode or Training Mode, although training does not give you much points. If you are a beginner in this game the first characters you buy will cost 800 points or less, then the price starts to go up and up, In the Secret Factor mode where you buy the characters, colors or stages there are three sections to buy from, first section is colors to buy, which also includes levels at some point in the future, the next section in cheap characters, the third section contains expensive characters to buy. I am great at this game, I have not gotten all the characters but this is the thing, once you become good at it, it gets boring trying to collect money because it takes very long to win one match in this game and there are 7 levels including the last boss Abyss who has three forms, total of 8 levels. After all that you just don't feel like doing it all again, sometimes you have to beat the game once, and then beat at least 2 levels to have enough to buy a character that cost 2000 or more points. Here are some pointers in the game, # 1 Abyss' hardest form is his first one, yes you might not think so but it's true, the second form is the easiest when your using Iron Man, just keep away from him because he only stays inone place, and keep on doing Unibeam and when you have special do Proton Cannon, it's not smart to combine 3 specials because you should save it for his last form.
The best combination of characters to use to beat Abyss' last form is B.B.Hood, because her special is strong and takes up alot of the screen, Iron Man for his Proton Cannon, third could either be Mega Man or Blackheart. One of the strongest if not the strongest triple team special in the game is Iron Man, B.B.Hood and War Machine, don't believe me check for yourself. The strongest specials in the game are owned by Shuma Gorath, Blackheart(If done correctly and standing in the right place), and last but not least a tie between B.B.Hood and Iron Man, I could be wrong but as far as I know it's correct. For those who odn't know how to do a triple team special you must have 3 on your special meter, then tap and hold the top trigger butons and the last thing you have to make sure is to get you opponent in it! I really reccomend this game to people who love fighting games and fighting games with extremely high combos,if im no mistakened you start off with 24 characters and make your way up to buy the others. This is a really great game

This is the greatest fighting game ever. it has 56 fighters total,24 to start with and 32 to unlock. you get 5 levels. there is also a store to buy this stuff. you buy the stuff buy the points you earn. the things that you can buy are 32 fighters,7 more levels and 56 costumes. this is a great game. the only bad things about this game is you cant play as the boss and its a little confusing but it is a 5 star game.

One of, if not the, best 2-D fighters ever

The original Marvel VS Capcom showed promise, but Marvel VS Capcom 2 is absolutely hands down one of, if not the, best 2-D fighter ever made, and behind Soul Calibur and Dead or Alive 2 the best fighter on the Dreamcast. Containing 56 fighters from the Marvel comics universe (including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Iron Man, and Cable) and the Capcom universe (Ryu, Felicia, Mega Man, Jill Valentine, and Captain Commando), and a plethora of possible combos and tag team variations, Marvel VS Capcom 2 takes Capcom's outline of tag fighters and up's the ante in virtually every way possible. Unlike some of the Street Fighter games and even the first Marvel VS Capcom, you can't just button mash your way through the game. Learning the various special moves, timing, and techniques for tag team pummeling will prove essential if you hope to get anywhere in the game. The 2-D fighters are superbly animated, while the 3-D backgrounds look great as well. There is hardly a single flaw in Marvel VS Capcom 2, which is one of the reasons why this game is so hard to find (if you ever find this game and you still own a Dreamcast, pick this up, you won't regret it). All in all, for those few Dreamcast owners out there, this is an absolute must have.

This game knocks any other fighting game out the water. This is the first game that gives you 56 characters, 3 on 3 tag teams, and combos that go to a possible 300+. If you play this game, it will amaze you with its awesome 3d backgrounds. Stick with the arcade for now and when this game comes out, buy it immedeately or you will be missing out on THE best fighting game out there today.

Marvel V.s Capcom is the dreadest game after the first Marvel vs Capcom. There are endless possibilities cool combos and stuff.
I've played with nerly every game you can think of, but my best team might be Guile,CharlieWith over 56 pleyers to play with, who can blame me? This is a must get for all true believers!

P.S I also like to play with Hayato, and Silver Samurai (did I spell it right?) and Venom not to mention Wolverine! So this is beyond repair over and [...]

56 Fighters, yaah...only around 15 are actually good

Marvel vs Capcom 2 is a huge game! It has 56 fighters but sadly a lot were fill-ins (can anyone say Serve-Bot). I expected better than to throw exact ports of old characters, what kills the 56 character draw is the fact that many were ported over AS IS with NO GRAPHIICAL IMPROVEMENTS and with NO NEW MOVES (Iron Man, Morrigan, Thanos etc.).

Some characters in MVC2 are rad like Guile, Captain Commando and the Resident evil girl but the others are mostly plain and dead. My biggest gripe is that characters such as Thor, Daredevil or Mr Fantastic are absent but cheap ports such as Thanos (who looks UGLY as well as Morrigan) are there. WHO CARES we want real fighters not add-ins!! MVC2 has sweet graphics, cool backrounds, fast action but too much cheap play. The partners who help are just abused and when they are I abuse them to the extent that when it is their turn to fight they have little energy.

The action gets old when you realise that only a handful of the 56 are actually playable and can compete in this game (beat the game on level 8 with a party of Serve Bot, Roll and Dan, I dare ya).

Overall I wanted deep 2D fighter with class but got a 2D fighter with too much reharshes. Its fun for a while but you'll move on. I recommend Power Stone 2

It's An Addictive Gem Dad and Mom!

Capcom is the absolute real deal when it comes to strikingly awesome Fighters. Capcom achieves what the company does best, spawn excellent fighting games. From their longest-running franchise, Street Fighter, to the ongoing Vs. series, Capcom has truly outshone themselves with Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, a beautiful trophy of 2D fighting. This addictive gem is the next level of 2D fighters. Just for Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is a real reason for a Dreamcast. Once purchased, I was welcomed in 2D fighting paradise. The latest installment has a maximum of 56 fighters total! Combat is just as fierce and lighting fast with much more animation. Old-school combatants as with new comers, like the amazing Cable from the Marvel Universe, are back and flashier than ever. Super combos penetrate the screen with pure richness! Those captivating grunts and taunts we've grown to love are back. And instead of the original two fighters at the player's disposal, there now is three! And man, stop me from licking the television set, the graphics are as sweet as candy! It has 3D backgrounds with our 2D heroes battling in dazzling animation. No game has captured the feel of a comic book like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 has. 2D fighting has encountered its next stage of evolution. The 3 on 3 fighting deserves praise for its insanity. This is a real slab of supreme 2D mayhem Even more addictive than the original. And please refrain from becoming a druggie.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 The Best!

When I first played this game on an arcade, I wouldn't want to get off of it! No matter how much money I had to spend! the graphics and gameplay are awesome! All of my favorite characters are in the game including Akuma, Ryu, Megaman and more! There are 56 playable charcters! 3 on 3 tag team action, what more could you ask for! This game is the Bomb and I suggest to people who haven't played it.......should!
