I've heard a lot of people say "this game could be great if the camera wasn't so dumb." Well, I bought the game to see for myself, and let me tell you, it takes time to adjust to it. And like most games with an advanced combat system, you can't just expect to pick up a controller and be an expert. You need to get used to the camera, which is different than any other game I've played. But give it about half an hour and you can do some really cool things with it.

So if you're like I was, wondering whether to get it, here's my advice: If you want a game like Quake, only starring Spiderman, where you press 2 or 3 buttons ad nauseum, don't get this. If you want something different, something that with some really unique moves (I *love* jumping on thugs' shoulders and pummeling them in the face!), then this game is your cup of soup.

And it's not perfect. On a scale of 10 I'd give it a 9.2. The enemies look like they came out of the Clone Wars, it's pretty easy to get double teamed, and you unfortunately can't go all the way down to the streets. (but in the game's defense, do you know how much of a memory hog it would be if you were able to walk on the street amongst the people?)

Among the great things are the Bruce Campbell voiceovers (he's a riot), the graphics (absolutely mindboggling, especially the details of the building reflections and the water, which is worth the price of admission alone), and the complete immersion into the life of Spidey. You don't PLAY Spider-Man. You ARE Spider-Man. It also rules because there are a TON of things to unlock, hidden areas, moves to master, and different outfits to try. It's not your typical game and it doesn't try to be. It is completely immersive, despite the time needed to get used to everything. You can't go wrong. And while you're at it get Jedi Outcast, too, because that game rules as well!

Very Refreshing! BUY IT!

WOW! what can I say, Activision and Grey Matter (the folks who brought Return To Castle Wolfenstein) did another great job. This version of Spiderman goes well beyond any other attempts at a game about the Amazing Spiderman. The gameplay is very dynamic, the graphics are superb. I often find myself just moving the game's camera view around to look at Spidey's details and just how cool he looks. The controls take some effort to master and remeber- there are a lot! But I think that's a part of what makes this game so fun. Spidey has many many differnt attacks, moves and ways to travel. It's very cool to be able to crawl over anything, the enviornments are totally accessible, and objects can be picked up and used against enemies. Overall, the game is great, and Spidey fans will fall in love, and newcomers will surely be impressed as well.

In order to play this game, you must have a TNL (transformation and lighting) capable 3D card (for your computer). You may have the demo, which works correctly on your PC, and think that the full game must work too. You're probably wrong, like I was. So when I bought this game, I installed it and tried to open it. An error message told me that my computer video card doesn't work with this game. I HIGHLY recommend that before you buy it, check and make sure that your video card will work with the game. <...I had an Intel card which didn't work. But I want to play the game so much that I'm willing to buy a supported 3D card. ...

For a Spider-Man game, this is as close to what I'd envisioned as I think a modern-day programmer can create without access to a Cray computer. It wasn't "perfect" though.

First of all, sound and graphics - fantastic. Great soundtrack that doesn't constantly repeat/drone on and highly detailed graphics and character movements. If you've seen the cartoon or the comic book, you'll be happy with the acrobatics that Spider-Man shows in this game.

Playability. When you get down to it, this is an arcade-style game with a few add-ins. Most of the game is combat or web-swinging. The combat is done with combos (ala Tekken, etc) which you earn as you progress in the game (the theory being that Peter Parker is learning to use his abilities as time goes on). The web-swinging is pretty great and the movement possibilities with the standard and "zip" web lines are near endless. This is in no sense a role-playing game and the game itself is very linear - you don't make any real choices in the game except to continue with the plotline. So if you are terrible at those combat games at the arcade, you may fall short in the combat scenes in this one...so get used to pressing those punch, kick, jump, and web buttons.

Game plusses.
- If you've ever dreamed of swinging along with Spidey, this is your game - fantasy fulfillment at its best.
- The price is also right...
- Movement is realistic and the combat combos are precious.
- If you've seen the movie, with only a few exceptions, the actors reprise their speaking-roles as the characters in the game.
- The cut-scenes are utterly FANTASTIC (one of the things I look for in games) - very high quality and near-cinematic. And the cut-scene portrayal of spider-sense is great - a good interpretation.
- An added bonus is that they incorporated the infamous Spider-Man heckling techniques against the bad guys into the game. It's great stuff.

Game minuses.
- The game has two general modes - web-swinging and in-building. When you're web-swinging you are swinging through buildings and can't get close to the ground, so everything happens on the rooftops. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't zip down and hang from a streetlamp, for instance. When you're in in-building mode, you're in that building and won't suddenly transition (in the same level) to swinging around after something/somebody.
- Game control is also a problem. I found that just using a keyboard was a little arduous with all the button combinations. Right now I'm using keyboard/Sidewinder Strategic Commander and that generally does the trick and the game supports the more popular game controllers.
- Saves only happen at the end of a scene, so if you get yourself killed you're out of luck and have to do the whole thing over which can be a bit arduous if you've done it for the tenth plus time.
- I was a little disappointed that there isn't more "crime fighting" in the game. Yes, you take on the general bad guys and the more famous Spider-Man nemesi, but every now and again while I'm swinging I'd like to stop a mugging or a gang attack or something rather than going along with the plotline. A "crime fighting mode" would have been a neat addition to the game - just swinging around and stopping general crime like Spidey himself.

Overall, I'd recommend this game to any Spider-Man fan or superhero fanatic. Activision and Gray Matter did an excellent job on this one!

A fun and entertaining webfeast for Spidey fans of all ages!

"Spider-Man: The movie" is so much fun! The animation and 3D images are awesome! Forget other Spidey games...this one tops the charts! There's more combat moves. More acrobatics! More web-slinging! And especially, more of that delicious, state-of-the-art 3D, baby! The game's graphics are so rich, it actually looks and sounds like our wonderful New York City! Even Spidey and The Green Goblin are voiced by no other then...*drum beats*...Tobey Maguire and Wiillem Dafoe! Darn smart, huh? Oh! And did I mention that you can use other characters besides Spidey himself? You can! Isn't that pure genius? You can use characters like Shocker, Captain Stacey, Mary Jane, the Green Goblin and much more. How, do you ask? Just go to the specials menu, select "Cheats", then type in - What? You think I'm going to tell you everything? Stop being so lazy and search for it on the net, for crying out loud! The game rocks. It has everything a good game should have: Great graphics, great sound, great story, great soundtrack, great entertainment, I mean - this is neat stuff! Thumbs up for the geniuses at Activision!

Spider-Man, Spider-Man, You Absolutely Rock, Spider-Man! And I mean ROCK!

What can I say. This is one of the best games I have ever played. The graphics are wonderful, there are many cool villains, like Shocker, Vulture, Scorpion, and Green Goblin. Plus, I haven't even completed the game yet, so I'm betting there are more cool baddies to fight with. Also, the gameplay is terrific, and there are many funny and/or cool quotes, like: "You need to learn a lesson, web head! And Shocker's school of rock is now open!", "Hey Vulture, didn't your mother ever teach you that stealing is wrong?" and "Save it, ugly! The last thing I wanna do is side with a psychopath like you!" On top of all that, the game is CHALLENGING! The Spider- Man 2 game was good, don't get me wrong, but it was a mite too easy. This game gives you a run for your money and is WAY better than the still cool Spider-Man 2 game. You even can use combos with punches and kicks, and you also have some webbing all the time, be it a little or a full gauge. All in all, this game is wonderful and superb, and I recommend it to all who have any sort of liking for superheroes whatsoever at all.

Seems a lifetime to make.

This game is so awesome and yet it seems it would take forever to make. Because you can play as three different thugs, Shocker, Scientist, Harry the Green Goblin and more. It seems impossible to make. The razor-bat level is the biggest problem for the people whom made it. This game is awesome but hard to make. Buy it and see for yourselves.

3D Accelerator Card Required but a great game.

I finally bought a 3D Acceleration Card and installed it. This is a great game. You can play as the Green Goblin. You have to beat the game on Hero to unlock it in the Specials menu in the secret store. To unlock it easily Start a NEw Game on Hero. Quit to menu then enter the code ARACHNID in the cheats menu in the specials menu. Then select the level COCLUSION. Now you'll have the Green Goblin feature unlock in the secret store. Type in the code CHILLOUT in order to have unlimited use of the glider's weapons without the glider overheating. This is a great game and it's a must ahve for all Spider-Man fans.

Spider Man's best yet

Much improved from the last game, this is great! There are so many secret areas to find and combos to try out and enemies to beat. I love this game, I think Activision did a great job on improving it.
