SFC for TNG

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 0 / 0

Interplay's SFC series arrives in the TNG era. All of the major ships from the TNG era are represented. The "scripted" campaign involves the Klingon's, Romulan's, and the Federation. In conquer mode, (I think), you can also play as the borg and go assimilating. I found this to be a fun game with realistic Trek weapons and decent graphics. Some missions are very easy, but once you get into playing and customizing your ship, you can play this game for hours and not want to stop.

how the mighty have fallen...short.

the first Elite Force was ground breaking and a good FPS for its time (2000 a.d.) but this game just stinks. it fell short of every expactation i had. first off the game is too short. only 10-11 missions, i finished in 2 days. second, this game IS NOT Star Trek, its just another monster fighting FPS...soooooo dissapointing. i wanna fight Borg, Romulans, cardassians and other Alpha quadrent foes...not monsters...if i wanted monsters id pick up Doom. the one thing that was okay in the game were the weapon choices and the fact it takes place in the alpha quadrent on the Enterprise. dont waste your money like i did, im 50$ out.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

How in the world can anyone justify $144.00 for any one game. Especially one that came out that many years ago. I WAS going to buy Armada 2 but after seeing the price.............there is NO WAY on god's green earth I would ever pay that much for a pc game.............It's no wonder Piracy has become the problem it is. I'll settle for the first armada thank you very much, I've seen it for 5 bucks at the game store down the street.

WAIT!!! Don't buy from here

Don't pay these "posers" the $100 for this $30 game. Copy and paste this URL and pay $6.95 (1 month of unlimited downloads) and get the game for free! http://free-game-downloads.mosw.com/abandonware/pc/strategy_games/games_so_sy/star_trek_starfleet_command_3.html

Watch out! Amazon is mixing reviews for all the Trek games together.

SFC3 is widely acknowledged as the best of the Trek games, though an argument could be made for Bridge Commander if you prefer a more "on the bridge" experience than a strategy game.

Unfortunately, the game's rating is being dragged down by being mixed with the reviews for many other Trek games. Amazon has them all linked for some bizarre reason.

For the love of god, do NOT buy the Star Trek Action Pack or half the games within from the scammers here on Amazon. I bought this lovely pack in a Wal-Mart for $40 back in 2003! Do not be taken in by these greedy fools here trying to sell you 4 [..] games, which are all [...] if not more and definitely not worth a new game's price or more. You can buy them all separately at any retailer for significantly less than this single pack would cost. Shame on all of you resellers ripping people off to the extreme!

This is a very cool game. I only have one problem with it. I can play it on the computer by myself but have yet been able to figure out how to connect to my brothers computer and play against him. We worked for hours trying to connect.

I still play this

I love this game and it has gone on every PC I've upgraded to. (It works fine on 2k & XP.)

However, if you are looking for a flight sim this will not be for you as the "feel" models more on old ships-of-the-line that fired then spent some time maneuvering for the next shot. (Things are not quite that simple since there are things such as transporter bombs & drones requiring a decision on whether to fire everything or not.)

For those coming from a Starfleet Battles boardgame background, there will be some things to get used to, (probably the most important being it's RTS) but otherwise it's very faithful.

Those coming from a purely Trekker background should be the type to make allowances: This game is based off an alternate-universe Star Trek without license from Paramount for the majority (all?) of the old-series ST movies, so there's lots of creative licensing with things such as races, background, and ship systems.

The support for this game is still very active and some surfing on the net will bring up everything from alternate weapon bitmaps to models of hundreds (thousands) of ships from various sources and TV/movies series. Playing lots of such custom monster behemoths with large, detailed bitmaps and drones and fighters can quickly demand a faster machine. For example, my current 3ghz Celeron will stutter a second of two when a Death Star goes up in flames. (It should be noted that playing the game as-is will not stutter any but a serious ancient machine.) Get the update! Bugs are not fun.

This game gets four stars because the same-ol' monsters and "unknown aliens" that show up in the single-player campaign get seriously old. Otherwise, this is an incredible game.

Well Crafted Game

As a life-long gamer and Star Trek fan, let me tell you that Elite Force II is the greatest Star Trek game to date, followed closely by its predecessor, Elite Force. In Elite Force II you continue as Alex or Alexandra Monroe and lead the Hazard Team through missions that are too dangerous for normal away teams. Though the game starts out on the USS Voyager, in continuation from the first Elite Force, you are soon transferred to the USS Enterprise-E where you get to stroll about this incredibly advanced ship in all of its glory. With a good graphics card, Elite Force II provides astonishingly well rendered graphics true to the Star Trek universe in every detail. All of the weaponry and computer systems in this game are more advanced than those from the previous Elite Force and show the evolution of the game with the real life franchise. One of my favorite features of Elite Force II is the ingenious integration of the tricorder to fix computer systems, reroute power, and scan for life signs and structural integrity weaknesses. This adds to the level of realism and truly makes you feel like you are a Starfleet officer. The missions are both fun and challenging and provide a first hand look into the universe of Star Trek. I highly recommend this game to both gamers and Star Trek fans alike - you won't be disappointed.

Better then SFC and SFC2 combined!!!!

I love this game. Now, I'v got starfleet command 1 and starfleet command 2 and I have to say that this is far better then both combined. One of the things that got me realy mad was that in starfleet command 1 and 2 you had to purchase a new ship because it had better weaponry or better shields. Well now in starfleet command 3 you don't have to worry about that. All you have to do now is buy a ship and upgrade the ships armorments, shields, and various other systems.

Another thing I like about this game is that you get to create a customized ship. You can make a ship in any configuration as you wish.

The campaign modes are also reasionably challengeing with different types of missions that have to be preformed.

Various mods can be downloaded to this game. You can download these mods on various cites, it shouldn't be to hard to find any. My personal favorite is the Generation(s) at war Mod. This mod includes ships from STARFLEET COMMAND 1 AND 2!!!!!!!!. Not only that but ships that weren't even in any SFC game or star trek series. Like the Excalibar class Challenger class, freedom class and at least 150 more ships.

With all the different new features in this game I would say that it surpasses most star trek games. If you are a true star trek fan this is a game you must buy.
