Build zoo of your dreams, repeat... repeat... repeat...

Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection lets you build any kind of zoo possible. You can put anything from dolphins to big foot in your zoo. However, you will often find yourself unable to get your zoo any bigger or better forcing you to just sit there and watch it run itself. At this point, I usually block off the exit and let all the animals out of their exhibits. Your guests rarely ever go to the back of the zoo because they get tired and turn around. The back is also where you usually have all of the best animals because you can only get them when your zoo gets very successful, after you've filled up the front of the zoo. Making and maintaining exhibits is also frustrating. The animals will not be happy unless they have the perfect amount of everything in their exhibit. The big dinosaurs are also a huge pain. They run around in their exhibit until they crush a shrub. Then they get angry about how messy the exhiibit is because of the smashed shrub and they try to break out of their exhibit. You have to go clean up the shrub and replace only to have it crushed again. This is a great game, but it can be frustrating and doesn't have as much replay value as I would have liked.

This is SUPER COOL

My friend and I love animals. She was hooked on Zoo Tycoon and soon gave me the game as well. It's a great game that lets you learn more about animals. It isn't hard to understand how to play the game and you can play Free-form so you won't run out of money. There are webstites (like www.zootycoon.com for instance) that give you tips and help for your zoo. You can experiment by mixing various animals in a single exhibit. Keep the animals happy, and they will entertain and delight your guests. This easy-to-learn gameplay creates a funfilled game that puts you in the fun right away.

This review is from my 11 year old son ...

It's a lot of fun. It gets you ready for life with currency and all that stuff. You never know what's going to happen, your animals might get blocked out so you can't buy any more. It makes you have to think and solve problems.

Love this game

My 10 year old daughter loves it. It requires planning and thought, an understanding of budget and consequence of choice (you can produce a lousy zoo you know). So as a Mom I love it too. This one came with 2 expansion packs and has allowed her hours of fun.

What a Deal!

I've played Zoo Tycoon for years now, and still love it. This package is an amazing value - the original game plus the two expansions PLUS the downloads from Microsoft! And all in only 2 discs! My kids enjoy this game as well. The clincher for me is I've recently bought Zoo Tycoon 2, and having played that for a few months I find myself longing to play my Zoo Tycoon 1 game. Not that 2 is bad, but the scope of the Collection is so much larger with all the marine animals, shows, etc. The only drawback to the game at all is the challenge of making each exhibit perfect for the animal, and I highly recommend finding a downloadable guide or buying the written guide to help you mix your terrains.

Zoo Tycoon is as much fun as I have heard -- challenging and even frustrating, but extremely rewarding! My kids are learning cause & effect of their actions. My husband loves it and will spend hours planning his MegaZoo.

We got Zoo Tycoon for our 8 and 10 yr old girls, who love animals and have been very pleased. The youngest loves the animals and learned much. The oldest likes controling the world and I have become a player on the economics front.

Lots of intangibles being taught to unsuspecting kids. Kindness, care for animals. Costs and project management. Economics, marketing. Awesome.

Great game, but save for at least reading age

I love this game. My son loves this game. He is just too young for it. I wish it said that it was for eight and up, so I would have waited a few years. It involves too much reading for him, but he always wants to play. We just have to play it together for now to help him with the reading.
