Gauntlet legends review

This game is awesome. The controls are pretty easy to learn and the game play is slow enough to let you focus but its fast enough to keep you concentrated. Also the enemies and power-ups are really cool. The bosses are neat too all having their own special attacks. You can find certain items in the levels that will help you beat the bosses a lot more quickly. Believe me I tried to beat the bosses without certain things you pick up in the levels in nooks and crannies(example:the ice ax of Untar)and it was alot harder! I would have had to be at least at level 30 to just be able to contend with the first boss. The level growing also makes it fun. Finding the powerups and using them is cool too. Good luck!!!

Go Gauntlet!

This game is the best I've ever played for the N64. The graphics aren't the best, but the game is awesome. It's very long, but it doesn't get boring, because there are so many things to do. About every 5 or 6 levels, you fight a boss, and you can buy power-ups in the store to use in any level, or sell them to buy other things. You can gain levels, and you can buy extra status in the store, also. If you are age 11+ I definitely would consider this game, even though the storyline is a little violent, there is no gore.

Let me give you some of the main points of why it's good. I am a person who believes in a good rpg/action game. It must have lots of magic, interesting spells, lots of action, challenge, secrets, massive levels, some incredible monsters, ability to carry items and use them when you need them, Turbo attacks, ability to have and raise attributes such as strength, speed.. etc... and most of all Multiplayer capability. (When was the last time you found a game which could have 4 player simutaneously playing in the same rpg/action game? What? That old X-men? That was nice game but that game was only pure action, no levels, no items, no attributes!) I found all the things I have listed in Gauntlet Legends. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was because of the repetitive music and some of the mind-boggling puzzles. One thing I never managed to recieve in the game was the Markman's Javalin in the Ice levels. I never found a way to get it. Although I did get everything else. One last thing was there was not much of a point after reaching level 99 and beating the game. You get so powerful, there's no point in playing the game anymore. You would think it would be fun to bring your level 99 character to play with a bunch of friends, but all you do is let them do all the killing to grab the exp and you just occasionaly lead them and stomp a few bosses. But the trip from start to end is quite a few hours. Personally, it took me 20 hours to finish the game by myself and enjoyed my nice level 99 character who can do serious harm with his interesting array of items he picked up when he beat Skorne the first time. Other than those "not so good" comments, the game was incredible breakthrough for the N64 Console, I never thought a game like that would ever come out but I am grateful that it did.

Arcade version is a LOT better...

I played Gauntlet Legends for N64 back when it came out about 3 months ago. It was just eh. I would have given it 3 stars. After playing the arcade version, I thought different of it. The arcade game was perfect. Probably because I had quarters at stake though. It also had FMVs and the graphics looked a heck of a lot better. I understand the N64 can't support FMVs, but that's not that important. The graphics are just okay in the N64 version. If you love the game and want it now, get the N64 version. If you like the FMVs and superb graphics, wait till the Playstation version comes out.

One of the Best

Guantlet Legends is one of the best games put out by N64 in my opinion. Its has OK graphics but thats made up for in shear coolness. Buy it if you can, very good game.

A Blast

This game is so much fun! It is great for both one person and up to four people! The game it self is very challenging from the begining up to the very end! With so many levels, this game is on a level of its own! I would highly recomend this game to other fans of games like Zelda.

Not horrible, not too good either

I got this game as a Hanukkah present without ever having heard of it or its predecessors. Once you're right down to it, it's not a bad game. The graphics are pretty mediocre, but the sound isn't as bad as everyone says it is. I kind of like the music, repetitive as it is, cos it's good at setting the mood. The sound effects are mind-numbingly repetitive, but the character's short bits of dialogue are hysterical: wait'll you hear the Archer when she gets a bite to eat, you'll see why I think it's so funny. Anyway, the gameplay itself is quite tedious. Every level is exactly the same as the one before it, except it's got a different background/trail, and the enemies are sometimes different, but basically variations of the same few monsters you encounter in the beginning. The game gets really boring and frustrating after awhile, and mine has some kind of bug in it, so I can't even beat it. But if you're into that kind of mindless run/slash kind of gameplay mechanics, then you will absolutely love this game.

Play Control Great!

This has great play control and is the best along with the ones I mentioned in RayMan 2. You can choose what you want to be and 5 charicters from that. You can name it to.
